Let's guess how long our JB official OTA will take!

Verizon started testing JB two weeks ago. They didnt have JB til then. Im guessing we are getting the oTA update during September hopefully.

I emailed Verizon about Jelly Bean, knowing that they wouldn't give me the answer I wanted but just to see what they'd say. I mentioned that I got my Galaxy Nexus because I wanted updates first, etc etc. Here's their response...

"I know how hard it can be waiting for new software to come to your device. Especially if there are other phones out there with the software you are looking for. I am still waiting for Ice Cream Sandwich to come to my phone myself.

As far as a specific date of when Jelly Bean will be available for your device, I am sorry, but I do not have that information. When software is available for the device, you will be notified by your phone. Please know that we have no control over when the software becomes available for the devices. The software is written by the manufacturer (in this case Samsung) and Google.

I am very sorry that I am not able to provide you with the answer that you are looking for. If I had this information, I would surely give this to you. Thank you for being a valued Verizon Wireless customer. Have a great night."

So, like someone else said, it's just a circle of blame. Verizon says its Google, Google says its Verizon. Hopefully we get the update in the next few weeks!

I can't help but get the feeling that that email from Verizon is copy-pasted.

Of course it is. They have canned responses for everything.

my friend who is a developer brought up a good point to me. There are other countries that have 4G LTE and the nexus's in those countries have not gotten JB either. It is easy to blame VZW as holding it back but i think Google also focuses on the GSM phones first then releases the CDMA and 4G LTE later on. I know it is ridiculous because members in the community have already taken the GSM updates and got them working / running on the VZW G Nex but until i see CDMA / LTE nexuses on diff carriers getting the update and VZW not releasing it then it will be time to blame VZW

GSM World Coverage Map- GSM Country List by frequency bands

regardless of who is to blame, my next nexus phone will likely not be on VZW

I agree on this on the most current update 4.1. The fact is that cdma for jelly dont come into play for the VZW nexus because there using the same radios its mostly UI layout enhancement and nothing with qualcomm codes. The facts is that verizon is swamped with tests and need to either get all phones on the same page or staff more people in there departments for software testing. I for one hate it and everyday I learn more and more discouraging information and as a long term consumer of cell phones, I'm having a hard time swallowing this pill. I hope that things get better.

I got sick of waiting and unlocked/rooted last weekend. I installed vicious jelly bean. All together it took me 30 min tops. I couldn't be happier. Once the ota update is available I'll download it. But for now I'm enjoying project butter and Google now.

Chrome has been my main Android browser for a while. Chrome doesn't support flash. Doesn't bother me...

If you want stock jellybean on your nexus wait until the next nexus comes out. I'm betting that there will be another nexus on the market before verizon will send it out for the current nexus. The Verizon nexus isn't a nexus, if it was we would all have it by now. Unfortunately this is the price you pay when dealing with Verizon. This is why I'm gone the minute unlimited data is taken away....like a lot of people.

My guess would be that key lime pie will be announced before we see jelly bean for this phone. Hopefully I will be wrong though
