LG fans, do you feel betrayed by the V30 rumors?

No more LG phones for me.

LG G4 - Dual SIM - Boot loop.
LG V10 - Dual SIM - Stuck on LG logo
LG V10 - Both original LG spare batteries bloated.
LG V10 - Slow down and stuttering in general.
LG V10 - Terrible battery life - Snapdragon SoC to blame here.

I paid full price for these phones and accessories. They should stick to making OLED monitors and washing machines.

A blog post is all I could do.

Happy being back with Samsung S8 Dual SIM.

I think RomeSC "hit the nail on the head"
I came from the Note series because of the Note 5's step backwards. I REALLY like the ruggedness, removable battery, expanded memory and screen of the V series.
If I lose 2 of those things for my next upgrade, then it's back to the Note series ??????

Just yesterday I had my phone stuck, locked up, due to new app. It would not shut down or reset..... No problem, I pulled the battery. Re-started and removed the offending app and Life is Good. I hope LG knows of that feature.

Lateck,

Even phones with sealed batteries have hardware key reset sequences issue a hard power reset... usually a combination of power and volume buttons. They are keyed into low-level hardware calls so they will work even if the phone is locked up... the only time I've come across/seen phones that didn't not respond, they were toast to begin with.

The V20 came back very strong. The G6 did as well. Not all manufactures are perfect, they all had their share of short comings. V20 is my first LG phone and the best phone I've owned overall. Not better than Samsung hardware, but still wins in my book. FYI the G4/V10 suffered manufacturing defect with the processor that caused it to overheat and damage the phone. Issue is now fixed.

Can't argue. But removing the battery is very easy to remember :-)

It costs $85 for ours, but without the repair, it would’ve been $50.

Probably a little more had it been a flagship.

Also depends on the phone. Have you seen how complicated the S7 and S8 is? Everything is jammed packed in a small and slim phone. If you pry it open, don't expect the paint finish to look perfect. There's also a risk of cracking the delicate display.

Exactly. What if the battery is smoking and heating up? Nothing you can do but run away. Removable battery? Quickly take it out. When phone is water damaged, you'll see the battery smoke.

you can just keep using the V20 too.

I am unfortunately. Kinda like iPhone users holding back on getting the iPhone 7 or newer, so sad for them, some of them really liked Apple and the headphone jack. What a punch to the gut for the fans and supporters. I'm pretty sure my next phone may be a OnePlus.

My dad uses one of the newer Samsungs with the glass back.

It's not easy, but it's also not impossible.

I will disagree with you one one point. If you are willing to use last year's phone, the waiting game is great! The prices drop and modern phones are good for far past 2 years.

Don't forget that will also allow you review the negative and positive attributes from a consumer aspect and a better opportunity to see if any bugs develop.

V30 is dropping shortly, what might disappoint you?

Of course, not everyone will be 100% happy with the decisions from manufactures (S8 and curved edges, FPS placement, iPhone 7 and headphone jack removal). What will disappoint you from the V30 IF they decide to add/remove these features/physical attributes?

Re: V30 is dropping shortly, what might disappoint you?

We're at that stage where smartphone manufactures are no longer adding any "gimmicky" features, and actually removing a lot of features. I'm no longer mad about the sealed battery, IR blaster removal, and glass back because they already did it and there's nothing I can do. What may disappoint me are the curved edges; we as consumers love accessories and want to keep our $800 phones in good condition. Curved screens has always been difficult to install aftermarket screen protectors and cases. With the new Gorilla Glass 5, they don't address the issue with scratched screens, actually ignored what we have been seeing with the new installment. Curved glass that's easy to scratch? I will most likely sleep on the V30 like I did with the regular Galaxy S6 and S7 (glad I did). The Galaxy S8 Active is looking very attractive right now (I owned the S6 & S7 Actives and loved it except for the sealed battery). That 4000mAh battery on the S8 Active is my only hope.

Lack of removable battery. Lack of IR blaster. Lack of second screen. Lack of innovation other than being a bigger G6.

From what I've been reading and what's rumored, nothing at all. Sealed battery and all. The V30 looks like the complete phone amd more to me. Only thing that can disappoint is if the don't deliver on hyped features like Steady Record 2.0 on the V20. A total failure and LG never took the initiative to improve this software feature with software updates. Also they need to launch the phone soon after the announcement and not that crap they pulled last year with the mysterious launch date and price well after the announcement.

I keep my old phones. I either give them to friends or repurpose their use. I have a Note 4 that can go forever because it has a removable battery. I have a Note 5 and unless I pay for a replacement battery it will die on me.

I'm sick and tired of people who chirp that they get a new phone every 3 days so the sealed battery is meaningless to the populace at large.

Your friend might not know that he bought a phone with a replaceable battery. But he or she is certainly going to care when the battery destructs.

I think its a step up over the G6 having an OLED display but that's probably about it. It will probably also have more RAM and a larger battery. But you're right about the other missing features that made the V10 & V20 unique. I will probably end up getting the Note 8 if they do away with the 2nd screen as that was one of my favorite features of the previous models.

I would not actually prefer an OLED display because all the Samsung phones I've had suffered from burn in. The main things I would want in a V30 if I could dream would be to keep all current features with the following improvements :

- 4k 60fps video recording

- 3x optical zoom and matching resolution wide angle rear cameras

- implement high fidelity audio processing for Bluetooth

- IP68 water resistance

- Wireless charging

I think the bigger G6 part isn't giving credit to the features the V30 is supposed to have. Yes we're losing some features but for one I think the V30 renders just ooze gorgeous(albeit Samsung-like) design. Also the camera, audio and video features of the V30 are supposed to be absolutely ridiculous for a phone. That's what will set it apart. I happen to love OLED displays as well so that's a win for me. If they choose to keep at least the IR blaster that will be the icing and candles on the cake for me.
