LG G3 Overheating warning?

Re: Does the LG G3 Overheat?

Yes, and for this reason I will not purchase or waste my upgrade on this device. This is a very serious problem. I have seen a lot of complaints on XDA about this very same issue since reading them here. Plus, seeing it on an actual review scares the crap out of me. I understand trying to be the first out of the gate with the 2K display but not for these shortcomings--NO WAY. After seeing the display in person--finally---I can say that its off axis viewing is terrible and the screen does have a washed out look to it. I compared the display to the One M8, GS5 and the iPhone 5S and it was more washed out than all 3 of those phones.

In all honesty I here complaints about battery which has been fine for me.

Overheating again I shot in UHD and warm is all it got, no warnings or shutdowns.

Its No Amoled so why compare to the S5, the Htc yes and the iPhone no. It is poor off axis not for me personally and colours are bright and vibrant.

Each has there own opinion and I'm not disregarding yours, that how you see it and that is perfectly fine.

But having used the G3 for a week, it more than meets my expectations and well I like it.

No real complaints here.

Yesterday my LG g3 was on fire..not literally, but it was running extremely hot. I wasn't doing anything extreme. In fact, I had just snapped about five or so images...edited one in snapseed and another vsco cam. Then took a quick 30 sec video.... Phone was hot to the touch and got the temperature warning. I might be wrong, but I didn't consider that heavy usage.

No that's no heavy, I browse heavily, take photo's and watch video, even recorded a UHD video and let it run the allocated 5mins and it was just moderately warm.

Mine also got hot from moderate use but so did my s4. No warnings yet though!

How hot is too hot?
I just ran a video for about 15 minutes (Watch ESPN), and the temp shot up to 104 degrees pretty quickly.

Re: Does the LG G3 Overheat?

The overheating issue I am having is not a warning message that comes up it is a yellow line that starts to appear next to the home button when I start to use it for a while then goes away when I let it cool down. I guess I will be heading to At&t to exchange it since I have just had it a few days. Anyone else have this happen?

I have the g3 for a couple days now and its only a few mins ago ive notice that this phones gets hot quick. Especially when taking a video it stops the recording and gives you a pop up message that the phone has a very high temp.and it does...ive never seen any phone like this...this is kinda stupid..

I always give a new handset a minimum 12 hour charge (whilst switched off) on its first charge, whether it needs it or not. This (in my opinion) stretches the battery's legs after it been inactive for the last couple of months.

Not necessary for lithium-ion batteries, but if it makes you feel better go for it. Your charger will shut off after Stage 2 charging is complete (3-4 hours).

Mine got warm after simply sitting on the charger not being used last night. It didn't get too hot but it was noticeable.

Sent from my T-Mobile Carrier locked LG G3 without root or anything like that. :)
btw, I'm a girl.

Lots of first timers posting about this heat issue. I say exchange it. There are many here and xda who don't have that issue after minimal nor maximum use, so they could be faulty ones. Don't keep it and keep complaining, exchange it. Or return it like some lol

I have had my G3 since July 10. Last night I turned off wifi and watched a few videos on the network and the G3 did heat up noticeably. It got warmer than any device I have owned and this is a lot of them. I did not get a warning because I disabled that feature. The screen is not that much better to justify that much heat although I am not sure if it is the screen or the 801 processor. I am going to check out the S5, M8 forums to see if they also heat up. I have till Tuesday to return and probably will as of right now.

Well good luck with your next purchase, shame you haven't found the G3 to meet your needs and that your experiencing so many issues.

As for me not one issue now, runs smooth, no overheating and that is applicable to UHD video recording, not sure about gaming as I don't, video streaming fine without high temperature.

And for my eyes the screen is stunning.

Perhaps the Note 4 or Nexus 6 or Moto X+1 will be more to your liking :-)

Good luck again :-)

I game a lot during work. Lol. I leave the games running since I switch back to it and work so frequently, my Optimus g can get pretty warm.

Has anyone gamed for 2-3 hrs straight on the G3 yet?

Is it an issue if ambient temperature? Are the folks having the issue using the device in warm environments perhaps? A review pointed this as a potential concern.

Have heard one too many of this exact same story. Not everyone - not even most people - but some. Enough that I have decided not to recommend this phone for my wife. :-(

I streamed an episode of Walking Dead last night while laying in bed and had no heating issues at all. There top of the phone near the buttons was slightly warm, but that was it.

My G3 gets pretty warm at the top of the screen during video recording and taking lots of photos.

I was taking burst shots and started taking 4k video of a thunderstorm then the camera app closed and said it couldnt take anymore pictures/videos due to overheating and it was the only app open and my brightness was on 0%

Heard this from a review n its been happening to me where screen slightly adjust the brightness n dims often when it gets a little warm...
Our only minor grumble came when using the display in really bright conditions. Once the phone warms up, the display brightness drastically reduces to prevent overheating and becomes far less legible in bright, sunny conditions. After a few minutes, the brightness often dims even more although the indicated brightness percentage level doesn't change. This could be an unfortunate by-product of packing so many pixels into one screen, prompting militant power-saving measures from the LG G3.

I've had my g3 since the release date on the 11th, and hadn't really noticed any overheating issues. Within this past week however, after rooting it, I've noticed that the top of the phone is constantly warmer than normal, but the battery stays fine. The only message I get is when I try to turn the brightness to 100% on a video. I'm not sure if it being rooted has anything to do with the heat or lag I'm expecting. Anyone else?
