Pretty dramatic sunset last night

Spent a little time in D.C. this past Tuesday and snapped some nice pictures. It was almost the perfect day temperature wise and the sun was in and out behind the clouds.

Not bad for being zoomed in from where we were.

wide angle from the same spot.

Took a walk around a nice little pier and waterfall where I'll be doing a photo shoot next week. All in auto and no post processing.

Tried using manual focus with focus peaking. I'd say the results are quite good.

I was inspired by a recent article I saw of a photographer that photographs animals from under a glass table. I present, moth like thing on windshield. Lol

I'm not 100% thrilled with it. I had to get in close and use the fill flash to light up the under side. That gave it an ugly green tint, which I couldn't completely eliminate without messing up the background more. Also had to sharpen it a fair bit to bring out the hair detail. This one below was without flash and has better colors, but less under side detail.

Took some pretty crisp and beautiful 4k video inside the drive-thru car wash with my family. Mostly used manual focus with everthing else on auto and I really like the results. Shot at the highest bit rate. But 1.54gb for a 3 minute video can deplete your storage pretty quickly. I usually just go with FHD but I gotta say 4k is the real deal. Check ot out. https://youtu.be/Ai3gK7V8d1U

Since I worked today and off tomorrow, the Easter Bunny came tonight. So I decided to experiment! Taken in near total darkness and used a flashlight to initially light the stuff to focus in manual mode. Then I turned that off and set the exposure for about a second, and grabbed my DSLR's speedlite. While holding the phone and pressing the shutter with one hand, I quickly popped a flash with the speedlite using the test button with my other hand. This is the result.

I had to work it over a fair bit in Snapseed because I was hand holding everything and used the speedlite as a bounce flash. So it required some cropping and straightening due to not being able to see exactly what I was shooting in darkness, and do a fair bit of color correction thanks to the greenish wall paint. I'm still rather pleased with the outcome!

And Spring has officially sprung here. Playing around with the rule of thirds grid on the camera app, attempting to get the 2 flowers in opposing grid corners. Was pretty hard due to how windy it was today.

Nice experiment there. Its about time for me to do some long exposures again with the weather warming up now.

I'd like to, just no time to really set up. I was just doing that one spur of the moment. If I had more time, I would've mounted my phone on a tripod and held the flash in a better place.

Reminds me of a gas station chain around here that also uses triple foam soap like that. Everyone loves the kaleidoscope effect. Lol.
