LG V20 - Camera shots! Show us your pictures

Ahh I see. Did you use some kind of nd filter as well? Usually I have to use at least an nd8 filter with a shutter speed that long to keep the highlights from blowing out.

I didn't use a filter but I am looking to buy some. I went to the darkest corner of the room and tried to block off the lights.

Would you look at that. It has its own wine rack.

("Wine rack" aside, this was one of the main selling points of the house I just bought. With 5 kids, one of the largest consumer refrigerators on the market is definitely a plus. Lol )

Wow. That is unbelievable detail in those shots. Much better than the reduced quality in Tapatalk app.

I am curious to see what a ND filter can do. Like you said, setting the shutter speed 30 sec is near impossible.

Well an ND filter would have the same effect as the conditions for these shots. None of the highlights are blown out. An ND filter will help when light sources are closer however especially depending on the strength of the filter. Keep shooting. I'd like to see more.

Spirographs are cool. What is the materials used to creat them? I'm guessing a 30 second shutter speed?

5-20 seconds, depending on the desired effect; the one that looks like a torus was 5 seconds. I'm kind of surprised you didn't know this technique already. Lol. If you look close at my last one, you would've seen a hint, so here's another clue to the setup. Straight out of camera, only edited to correct rotation.

I'm not much of a light painter as I am a long exposure for city scales type. But I am guessing that you enter the frame after you start the setup before exiting. The only light painting I've down was when I used a simple light, stood in one spot and drew a heart but I stayed in the frame so you can see me as well.

Ah ok. Well this time I'm not in the frame at all. The LED's are suspended from the ceiling in my basement with the camera directly under them. I turn whichever ones I want on, start them swinging, then start the exposure.

Because it's otherwise pitch black there, I can cup the lights to hide them so I can change which ones are on/off and change the swinging action. The torus one was simply me twisting the cords around, then letting it unwind in place for quick and tight rotations. That last one I posted of the green light and lit ceiling was utilizing the rear curtain flash.

New puppy! A husky/black lab mix to wear out our kids. Lol.
