LG V20 - Camera shots! Show us your pictures

Same app. HDR+ off vs on. It's crazy.

I went to see the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train last night. Didn't take any pics, but I did get several videos. Again, I was very impressed at the quality of the recordings.

1080p 60fps of it entering the station.

Shot this one 1080p 30fps ISO 600 both to save space and to get a little better lighting. It's a little long at 12 minutes, but check out the digital zooming! I was about 50ft from the stage, and was able to see things better through my phone than without. Lol. Pardon the occasional camera shake and bad angles, as it's kind of hard to keep still in a crowd.

And the wrap up!

This possibly the luckiest shot I captured so far. My son was on the merry go round at the mall and I attempted several of those pan shots where you move with the subject to keep it in focus while everything else is blurred. Very hard to do especially with a smaller subject but I was so shocked when I actually pulled one off. Gotta love manual mode. I took it and edited the RAW file in Lightroom. I also did a slower shutter shot focusing on the rail while the ride was going. No edits on this one. Last pic in HDR+ of my baby girl who surprisingly elected to sit this one out.

None of them are showing up for me. :/

Oh wow. They show up on mine. I'll try again later.
I think it's the site going nutty again. When you first posted, only the first didn't show but the last two did. Now none of them do, and others around the forums are hit and miss.

I hate when that happens.

Wow. Good music and good quality here. And of course the audio is just beautiful. For even smoother videos shoot regularly but don't record in HiFi. Then take that video and run it through Google Photos stabilizer. It works wonders for smoothing out little shakes and jumps. Pretty impressive little feature.

Christmas photos with my kids and their cousin. Depth of field effect applied in Toolwiz Photos app.

The Google Pixel is thought by many to have the best camera of any phone and it's software is also well respected. Now I have the LG V20 and have found the auto settings to be pretty bad. You have to shoot manually for a good picture. Also the HDR function is not all it could be. I find the photos slightly veiled/soft and they look to be over processed in auto mode. While looking for tips, tricks and hacks for the V20 I ran across the ported version of the Pixel hardware for use on other android phones. This will run on almost any flagship phone since 2016 with the snapdragon 820,821, or 835 chipset.

Now your on your so own make your own decision as to whether to install. I have and there are no glitches I've seen so far and there is a marked improvement over the V20's standard software. The only thing I've found is I can't us the 2nd wide angle camera. No biggie I'll just use the V20's software for that.

Here's the link to read about it and download. https://thenextweb.com/gadgets/2017/09/08/hdr/

I think you're new here. Welcome. We discussed the Google Camera app a few posts above. Feel free to check it out. If you just need quick shots I highly recommend it. The app has even been updated to run faster since I installed it. It used to be kinda sluggish and the processing of HDR+ photos took forever but it's quite reasonable now.
