LG Viper roms?

He means Loki the boot.Img along with the aboot. Isn't the boot.img the kernel? It would have to be lokied if so.

If someone were to give me a sure fire way of testing the security error, I could do it right now.

You removed some Google System apps, as I understand.

just remove some google apps using a root uninstalling app. that and all lg apps. you will quickly find out if you get a security error. someone else collab with jager and confirm an app that generates a lg security error. make sure you use a non modified kernal to confirm a security flagging app and let jager know so he can test.

Alright, I'll try that out.

Btw guys it's a lot faster to communicate with irc, so connect if you want better collaboration.

I meant, useful info @ above posts',also meant how to loki the boot.img within a rom w/o status 7 error from twrp while flashing. Twrp shoots status 7 recovery recognizes when the rom is tampered with. 5-10 posts' a day is ridiculous, i agree @ josh. Time & place @ irc?

2014-04-25 16.23.37.png<--all apps after reboot, i dirty hacked the update.zip for zvk with no security error boot.img and erased practically ALL apps. it boots! im troubleshooting some technical difficulties atm. its an upgrade so you need zvi.

i will possibly need to re add some of the functions i deleted for gapps to work. maybe some input later? im off to work now.

as you saw, i was working on pushing stock ics apps into zvi. if i can get a clean already rooted zvk image (or twrp backup), i can easily make us a fairly AOSP stock image. will need to flash a custom kernel though. currently i was able to do what you did on stock zvi kernel, which is odd since it should have flagged me with a security error (jaeger couldnt get it to flag him either, though i am not sure if he was using the smartassV2 kernel which should have been a no security kernel)... the only modification i have done to mine before i started was a loki recovery. maybe thats enough to stop it? only way to know is to build a custom rom and flash. as for getting it to theme back to holo instead of white, idk about that unless we can modify the systemui.apk as replacing it has given me nothing but a crash. unsurprisingly, it isnt related to lg's security.

I also could use a list of what apps are critical to proper phone function (in the event someone is actually using the phone) so i can wipe out the rest.
For now, if its something i know is garbage, i will toss it. I will also look into rebuilding the systemui and settings to get us back to dark holo

anyone know off hand the play store apk/odex dependencies? i deleted everything google to test and readding minimal requirements is my goal.

@ed i was saying yesterday same thing "maybe thats enough to stop it"^ @loki @josh. im not sure if he understood how or or what i meant lol. anyhow, could be thinking of some ways to test. im currently working on the update.zip so not to worry about deleting apps at all. eraseing all unnecessary apps from punch. just booted and gapps works. i readded some google stuff, stock browser, and dl provider. also, you dont have to flash gapps when installing. if anyone wants to try it i will host, its 30-40mb lol.

I will test. is prerooted? no way to root zvk iirc.
personally im looking into using xposed for the themeing
by stock browser, you mean AOSP right?

btw, pop on IRC as its easier to communicate.

Oops, i thought i posted the root method, anyhow. Data may not work because i deleted some sprint stuff probably relative to it. I will host my .zip anyhow with that warnong on a new thread/guide how to dirty hack the update, so viper users can add/delete whatever.

Idk either, even after editing qcom.post.boot.sh setting v2 as default. Whatev, the v2.o in the out/cpufreq/ and the kcon @ default. Not stressin. @ nigel you think yer revised kernel tree is worth lokiing? I know cm10.1 branch is an option.

That kernel tree is just the stock ZVI kernel source. I only put it up there for GPLv3 purposes.

@brandon
not to worried about cell. as far as im concerned, i would prefer a rom stripped of all cellular services so long as gps, bluetooth, nfc, and wifi are functional. i was working with some theming engines, 2 of which are based on xposed framework. it appears lg has done a lot of "dirty" modifications themselves, as i can make most things AOSP dark holo, but other things remain light holo. i can change sertain settings icons like i can on an AOSP rom, but others remain. LG also used a special app to make a lockscreen, so i cannot get an AOSP lockscreen in order. if someone has ported it into an app itsself, i can try a push test, but so far, i can only find third party apps that imitate the lockscreen. I am eagerly looking forward to a working CM9 now myself. anything newer is just a bonus for me.

And btw brandon, it should be noted that loki'ing the boot.img is just extra safety and doesn't appear necessary from my experience. I have yet to trigger a security error stripping away any supposed "security check" apps.

btw, i just deodexed my system using android tuner free. system functions stable and fine. will double check to ensure it is deodexed.

@thenameisnigel
I'm not sure whats wrong with cwm but so far I have seen that if I place a ui_print("", key_queue[0]); at the beginning of ui_wait_key() in ui.c the menu navigation works fine, probably something with the way the key_queue array is working and key repeat.

It's a small thing but what I'm not sure is how this could be incorportated into the device tree.. BOARD_CUSTOM_RECOVERY_UI isn't available in cwm.

@jaeger: can you push a copy of teh CWM?

@brandon: I am porting your rom thread to androidforums
