[LINK][ROM]CM7 Thunderbolt.RC1.4 + 1.5.2 Updated 8/6/11

Re: [LINK][ROM] CM7 for Thunderbolt. RC1.4 Updated 7-29 11:20PM E

Mine worked for a while after this fix and then defaulted back to some place in Virginia this afternoon. I had to turn GPS on and let it update itself to fix the issue.
Any other ideas on this anyone?

Mine is working just fine... I would like to have you try something... turn on your GPS... go into one of your contacts that has an address... click on the Navigation arrow... should start your Navigation app and find your GPS location and tell you how to get to the contacts address... did it work???

There is a difference between GPS on Google Maps and Navigation... and I think the Weather apps use the one that Navigation uses... not the one Google Maps uses.

It's just a theory of mine.

Only thing I dislike so far about this rom is the wake up of the screen. It seems very dim and slow to wake and not fast like it once was. Other than that, I have been enjoying the Rom.

Which kernel are you using and do you have the Cyanogenmod setting - Screen on animation on or off?
Also, do you use widget locker at all? - widget locker has an automatic 5 second delay built into it between being able to turn screen on agian.. (ie... when you turn the screen off, it takes 5 seconds for widget locker to refresh, but after the 5 seconds is over, you can turn the screen on at any time again)

If you are using the stock baked in kernel, try and turn off the screen on animation, see if that helps.

if you want to you can try using one of Imosyen's kernels_[GB Kernel] leanKernel: minimalistic kernel (3.5.0GBtest 7/24/11, v3.5.8AOSP 7/24/11) - xda-developers - Download the AOSP lean kernel for this issue your having and it should fix it :)

according to the his change log v3.5.6 (7/22/11) - reverted workqueue backport while keeping all other backports in order to fix the screen wake lag issue,

this 3.5.8 kernel will have the same backports included into it :) let me know it it helps.. the more feedback I get the more I can help others

Found an interesting thread on RootzWiki talking about the [AOSP Bug Discussion] Network Location wierdness... mostly trying to figure out the issue because it does effect all AOSP ROMs... if you have a theory I'm sure they would like to hear from you.

I tried this today and the GPS will not lock on. It just says searching for GPS at the bottom of the screen and left it like that for about 5 minutes. Does the GPS feature work for everyone else? I'm using the latest Tiamat kernel.

My GPS works perfectly... and I am using the newest Tiamat 1.04...

here are some tips for you to get it working... let me know if you have tried any of these.
1. turn on GPS (under 'location and security" - select BOTH 'use wireless networks' and 'use GPS satellites'. then open the 'maps' app, menu and select GET DIRECTIONS. then enter in whatever end location you want and press the NAV icon (blue arrow). it 'should' open your nav app and work... if not, try this
2. leave GPS running on you phone and make a nandroid. after nandroid is done. restore one of you older nandroids that you know for a fact has working nav, when you restore it, turn on NAV and GPS. then go into ROMmanager and restore the nandroid you just made of this. that also, should allow you to use your nav and gps...

also, I use weatherbug and have to manually put in my location sometimes.... then for no reason, it will put me back in tennessee or somewhere crazy, and I have to go back and press menu -locations- and select the preset one that I made ealier...

I love this ROM but it does have its bug,, thnkfully I don't have many of them... I hope this helps, let me know

If ssethv's suggestion does not work... you might have to flash a Sense ROM... of course make a current backup, then flash a Sense ROM, get a Lock using your GPS and Navigation app, leaving that ON, start ROM Manger, again making a good backup, then flash back to your CM7 backup.

Lol... That was number 2 that I listed on the previous post ;-)

LOL... sorry, I must not have read it too closely... oh well, as long as they get the GPS to work.

This is very interesting though... my theory now is that this Navigation GPS is what is not working with these AOSP ROMs... most people look at their Google Maps and think GPS is working, but when in fact their Navigation GPS is not working... these two must have different API Interfaces... but I really have not gotten into programming on the Android, so I can not backup this theory.

My current gripe is that I cant use video calling for Gtalk or Skype. not sure if this is ROM related...

I guess it doesn't matter cuz I only use skype maybe once a week, I just really like this ROM, everything is working perfect for me. the theme I have Is amazing and my lockscreen (widget locker 2.1) is awesome... I cant leave ;)

I am new to CM7 coming over from BAMF 2.1 remix and I’m lovin the rom but having some problems. Does anyone else have the problem of the dock disappearing? This has happened a couple of times. Also the signal goes in and out a lot I didn’t have this problem on BAMF, is this normal?

Welcome to the world of No themes. Isnt it better??

Never had the dock disappear....did you do a full system wipe/cache/dalvik (3 times) before switching from Bamf?

I have experienced some signal problems as well. Usually this is only in reagards to locking onto a signal. Once Ive gotten a signal, everything works great. But the signal issue is common.

Did you do a data wipe, clear cache and clear Dalvik cache before flashing the new ROM???

for the dissapearing dock.... press you 'menu' soft button, then choose 'MORE' - adw settings... then choose ' General Behavior' -> 'gestures'...

then choose 'Swipe down actions' and select NONE (or you can read through them and select what you want)
Then choose 'Swipe Up Actions' and select NONE (or you can read through them and select what you want)

Now you wont have the ole dissapearing dock bar anymore :)

now that you know how to get to your ADW settings... I would explore them and see what you like or don't like... this is a VERY customizable ROM, thanks to ADW... let me know if this helps

ALSO,, try changing radio's... I have had the most success from MR2.5

I LOVE you guys. No joke, you make the best rom out there, but more than that, your support is amazing. I can't wait to see more updates. I was also wondering if there was a way to sync my facebook calendar with the native app? I know Sense does it, but I'd rather use CM over those ROMs anyday.

LOL... sorry, but most us are just here to help others... and use these ROMs... we are not the programmers. The Facebook app will not sync Facebook's Calendar... Sense must use a custom Sync to get this to work.

Running v3.5.8AOSP Kernel like recommended.
Animation off
No widget locker

If the phone is on and and use the power button to turn off the display then hit the power button to turn on the display it turns on dim for a few seconds before it goes to bright. (If I turn off auto brightness the issue seems to go away)

Other thing when using SMS - I will send a message to a friend but not exit SMS. He will send a message back and it does not automatically update on the screen I left up. I then exit out of the app then re-enter the app and the message is there.

Minor issues with the ROM but not enough for me to change, really like this rom.

Re: [LINK][ROM] CM7 for Thunderbolt. RC1.4 Updated 7-29 11:20PM E

do you have to have cm7 rc 1.3 in order to update to this one? i have flashed several roms so i do know what im doing and i tried flashing this earlier after wiping data/cache/davlik all 2 times each, then formatting the system and then when i installed it and clicked reboot the screen just stayed black for a couple mins, then it just brought me back to recovery so i just wiped everything again and flashed bamf3.0..

I can see by the other thread you started you fixed this issue... and just to answer your question in case someone sees this... you do NOT need CM7 rc1.3 to load rc1.4. Every ROM that is out, unless we are talking nightly builds (which I've never worked with), are what I'd call FULL ROMs. You don't need a previous version to load the ROM.

That being said, CM7 does need GAPPS to load the Market and any Google apps... and of course you need a Gingerbread Radio if you are coming from a Froyo ROM.
