[LINK][ROM] Liquid Thunderbread v2.6 (8/06/11)

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

I too am considering giving AOSP a try. Would you recommend this rom or perhaps CM7? Honestly I love sense and have never given AOSP any thought, but I am a little curious to be honest. Thanks

This is just my opinion...of course. I've used and installed Das BAMF 3.0 rc3 and rc4, CM7 rc1.1 and 1.2, INJ3CTTH3ORY V4.6 (DeSense), and finally found Liquid Thunderbread (LTB for short) when it was v2.2 and updated to v2.3 when it was released.

It's very clean... no Sense or other bloat, even though I do like parts of Sense. The download file is approx 68mb... compared to 290mb for Das BAMF rc4... much smaller. CM7 is a little bit bigger than LTB, and it requires you to also load the GAPPS file, which LTB does not (the Google apps are included on LTB)... so LTB is again smaller. CM7 also has ADW launcher as it's default launcher... you need a launcher on any ROM... Sense on Das BAMF, CM7 is ADW, and LTB has LauncherPro... I really like LauncherPro, but there is no reason you can't load ADW or Go Launcher EX if you want.

Right now I really do like LTB and don't see loading anything else... at least that is what I say right now... but I don't see anything else that will draw me away right now.

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

I did not use Titanium when I switched to this ROM... and the last time I flashed a ROM was going from v2.2 to v2.3, so I didn't wipe anything. I did however download and I'm using MyBackup Root now... I have backed up my apps and data on some specific apps, but I have not used it to restore anything yet... it does look a lot easier to use than Titanium.
I really want to try this ROM... I really don't like Launcher pro so I might just use ADW over top it since I don't know how to get rid of it... Right now I am flashing an older rom so I can get all my apps backed up and then restore them with thunder bread. I wish google would have transferred them for me like they normally do.. oh well...

Do you know if nav works with this ROM? any other issues or advice you can give to me

Navigation and GPS have worked great on this ROM... I have been using the 1.39.00.0627r radio since it was released and stripped out of the official Verizon OTA. The video fix I described above... and there are some issues with weather apps not locking onto your location, which has put me in some town called "Broken Bow", but I just search in the Location for my town and I have the local weather... I've turned Geolocation back on and it's work, but occasionally it will go back to Broken Bow... that's the only issues I know of.

I plan on read some more on RootzWiki this weekend... but I've not seen anything else... and as you can tell by my recent battery tests I'm very happy with that part of this ROM!!!

I am liking this ROM but I am having trouble getting the screen to turn on right away when I try to wake it up... Im not talking about a second or two... it takes like 5 seconds... is that normal

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

Sorry, I guess I did not state this, but it is on a Stock Battery!!!

Just before I went to bed I took one more screen shot before I connected it to power... almost 16 hours, and as you can tell I had some Angry Bird time (Rio):

That's freaking wicked dude!

I have never seen or heard of that.

no kidding.
me want!
It doesn't matter the ROM, they all eat my battery....
But I dig this one so I'm staying with it.
However, I'm at 3hrs and at 79%....
Battery use says 47% is android system.
Usually it's cell standby. Anyone got a take on that?
Also, could this just be my physical battery?
If I could get fatboy's stats with a new battery I'd buy one!

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

My battery is just a stock factory battery.

3 hours at 79% is pretty good.

With 47% being Android System... I have not seen Android System... I currently have Cell Standby, Display, Wi-Fi, Phone idle... and now a little Facebook because I just checked that. Do you have some apps that run in the background?

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

Yea the 'android system' makes me think there is something wanky going on.
The other day it said fish bowl was 44% and on reboot it said cell stanby was 44%
However, I can't remember what rom I was on :D
So I decided to reboot just now....still android system.....

Sounds kernel related...
t
Try a newer or older version.

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

OF COURSE.... I love this ROM but god!!! why cant i get any AOSP rom to work with NAV, that is the only problem I have.... dang man... I really liked this rom. any way to fix? and is db stripped 2.1 considered a sense rom?

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

ok, less than 24hr test and i love this rom and sorta hate it. battery still sucks for me, unplugged at 7:30ish and and now 3:30 and i have 15%
40% android
20$ cell
15% phone idle
8%wifi
7% voice
6% display, which is a LOT less than i have ever had
4%gps
2%beautiful widgets
2nd. earpiece volume is WAY down for some reason, even though its turned up all the way. its hard to hear anyone.
my verizon apk app . that i have stored on sd will not work saying will not work on this device.
on a positive note i downloaded the GPS STATUS app from the market and it calibrates the gps setting and now its locking onto my locations for the weather and location with the map.

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

You might get better battery with the lean kernel. I forgot I had it on this backup and I think its made a difference.

Sounds like my experience with CM7 rc1.2... I couldn't even get GoogleMaps to find my location let alone get Nav to work. That's why I switched to Liquid. Some have said something about flashing the something like Das BAMF, then flash this ROM, go back to Das BAMF get a GPS lock on, then back to this ROM. It sounds like a lot of work.

can you lead me on were and how to get this kernel? do you install it on the sd card and load it from recovery or boot?

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

I was also going to put a governor on but can't seem to find the files on that thread.
Anyone know?

Also I've been through all the launcher preferences and the liquid settings but can't find a setting that changes the orange outline in text boxes. Also the orange select arrow. I'm more of a blue or green guy.... :)

Are you getting an error message??? I'm sure you've cleared data and cache on the app already... and rebooted.
