List of nexus 7 2013 problems

Thanks! No problems since I did the factory reset. I also has not prompted me to upgrade the software. Luckily I had not installed anything on it yet.

I retuned mine to Best Buy today. The screen is beautiful, but things just work real screwy. I found no way to get push notifications for my other mailboxes that I have filters setup for. The native music app and or clock gives no ability to set a sleep timer. Many apps seem to like to go back and fourth out of landscape mode. I could go on and on. I just decided I would return and wait in an iPad mini with retina.

I think if I had never had the iPad experience I wouldn't be so picky about it, but honestly for me user experience wise with apps the iPad is still the better choice. Granted specs wise you got to give the nod to the New Nexus 7.

The new nexus 7 has a screen PPI of 323. IPad (with retina) has a PPI of around 290. Both are 1080p Full HD but nexus 7 has a higher pixel density. IPad mini (with retina) would be around $400 when nexus 7 is around $250. Nexus 7 has wireless charging. Nexus 7 has micro usb, which many devices use, unlike lightning cable (which is better then micro usb but there are more micro usb cables than lightning yet.)
Edit.: Ipad 4 has 1gb of RAM. Nexus 7 2 has 2gb of RAM.

Thank you Captain Specs. I'm sure he'll change his mind about his experience with Android after you blew him away with those specs.

You cannot actual tell the difference in terms of iPad retina and Nexus 7. I did the side by side comparison. Price wise Apple is more expensive but what it delivers in experience and ecosystem for many make the premium price worth it. How many vehicles and accessories will the Nexus plug into natively? Amazing how many accessory makers jumped quick to make lightening connector devices. Speakers on the Nexus 7 is not as loud or clear at high volume as iPad mini Much more screen too even if it's not as crisp. I could give you a running list if why the iPad is a better user experience even priced higher. Clearly you think specs makes the device and that is what the Nexus 7 has in the current iPad Mini but used experience is still lagging behind period! You get what you pay for!

Is the ADS-B receiver only for planes? What I found via google was $600-700 for the receiver :-O

Garmin GDL-39. It is indeed pricey, but it gives us free traffic and weather. The only other option is XM satellite, which is subscription based.

The GDL-39 paid for itself after 11 months.

I don't use accessories. I use my tablet like a tablet not a smart phone. So for me, specs matter more. Like 2gb of RAM for my apps. And i know what you mean but its funny how specs don't make the device (as in they don't mean you should buy it or not) but technically they do (specs MAKE the device). And use headphone for the speakers.

Specs don't make the device, QUALITY makes the device. I pay for the features, but I expect quality at ALL prices. I may buy something for it's specs, but if they don't work right, I'm either going to return it, or not buy from them again.

Some 'features' of the N7 are really 'bugging me. (Pun intended)
Maps 7.0.2 - Just sucks up and down and really useless without a data connection.
Slimport adaptor for HDMI output. - $30-$60 for a clunky adaptor cable.
GPS signal lock problems
Multi touch freakout/ grounding BS

I didnt mean specs make the device as in they make a device Good, I mean they actually make the device. As in they create the device.

I was surprised that clunky adapter is more complex than I expected. It actually has a dedicated processor in there to handle HDCP decryption and encryption as well as rearranging the mydp-style multiplexed audio to produce something your TV understands, all done in that little box. At first I thought it was just some dumb cable reconfiguring some output pins.

Anyone else having problems with the volume and power buttons? They seem to have become a bit indented (best way to describe it) they still work but I'm wondering if this will become an issue later on to the point were I won't be able to turn it on and/or raise/lower the volume. I bought the tablet at launch.

On the first day, I could charge wirelessly with a Qi device. Then yesterday, it stopped accepting a charge using the Qi device. Google hasn't been much help thus far.

This is my first Android device, and although I was originally impressed, I'm starting to lose confidence. If I can't solve this problem soon, I'll return it to Best Buy. This will be disappointing since I liked the form factor.

How about not a problem with the device by itself, but is it too much to ask to get a charging cable that could reach the floor from a desk... ASUS was putting a 5 ft cable in the TF301 and TF701 transformers, why not these!

Only 15 minutes into the actual device, a lot of reboots, but so far so AWESOME!

Cheers!
I had to go out and get a USB extention to make the cord long enough. One of my pet peeves with most devices charging cords!

My first Androd device. Works well and fills in the app gapp from BlackBerry.

After 14 day, the device would not start. It got stuck at the plus screen. I exchanged it at Best Buy yesterday. Separately,Google support wouldn't help me over the phone because I didn't purchase the device from the PlayStore. This is ridiculous.

I bought my 2013 Nexus 7 from Google Play Store. This is my 1st tablet ever.Last night I was playing around with it and it rebooted twice by itself. My wife had the same problem. Is there any official fix for this? Looking through this thread, I get the impression that this kind of problem is an accepted thing in the Android universe. Do i Pads have the same level of problems?

NO WAY! I have a Samsung Note 2 as does my wife and never has either phone rebooted itself or displayed any strange behavior. (I got mine on launch day which was back in Sept 2012) I had a first gen N7--it was a piece of crap and I sold it last week. Android devices work unless you are unlucky enough to choose the wrong product. it's obvious that these Asus tablets aren't up to snuff.

How did you return it to BB after 14 days?

there is a known conflict with some keyboards.. provided you are rooted.. there is an easy fix just done by renaming one of the keyboard layout files... do search.. sorry.. can't get exact info for you
on that note... follow up from another post, turned off Bluetooth, GPS instantly works correctly, tells me it is a software conflict... Google, bang the rocks together guys

Wait, so you are saying that when you got your GPS dropped you just toggled off Bluetooth and it could reconnect without having to restart?

Just returned my device to Best Buy today. I spoke with Google last night and they wouldn't help much because it wasn't purchased through Google Play. They just told me to return it to Best Buy. Needless to say, I did not exchange it. I'm not impressed. I'll consider an iPad Mini instead if they come out with a Retina display.

My iPad 3 locks up occasionally. And the screen can be jerky at times. I believe Apple knew they underspeced the thing but wanted the Retina display out in the market. Unfortunately for us iPad 3 owners they brought a fixed replacement in 7 months and killed our resale value.

If the 2013 Nexus 7 causes Apple to bring out at a Retina mini next month, like they should have from day one, it will kill the current Mini's resale value.

My issues:

-top edge of screen near camera is brighter than the rest of the screen
-Speakers sound terrible under ~ 25% volume
-random shutdowns
-Asus wall charger hisses loudly when charging

I'm returning mins to BB today.
