Right now I'm running Nymerian's CyanogenMod version with OMFGBs kernel. I previously had stock CyanogenMod with the same kernel. I also have the leaked 2.5 radio. Both have given me tons of issues with 3G location, signal drops, and wifi drops.
Any recommendations on how to either fix the current rom or for a new rom/kernel combo?
Thanks!

I have tried every rom that you can name... Hands down the best rom in my opinion is bamf_forever_1.0.9! Everything absolutely works perfect for this rom I had no issues whatsoever with it. At least give it a try. You can find it over at the bamf forums :-)

also, I would suggest sticking with the stock kernel that comes with that rom. I have tried several different kernels, and the stock kernel build in is the best 1 yet

+1... I've not tried as many ROMs as ssethv, but I highly recommend BAMF Forever 1.0.9... an excellent Sense ROM.

As far as your 3G thing goes, that may not be a ROM/Kernel issue either. I've had less than great 3G performance over the last 2 weeks or so. Seems to be a network issue, may be isolated to particular areas of the country? 4G works fine, but the minute I drop my phone into 3G only mode, the data performance is just awful, and the signal drops off a lot.

I was less concerned about that since even on the stock out-of-box sense it had trouble holding a data connection. It was more the wifi inconsistency

I may go back to an AOSP, but I haven't had a Sense rom in a while so I'm interested

fatboy and ssethv, what kind of battery life and performance do you get on BAMF?

I get amazing battery life out of this sense ROM.... I used to ONLY use AOSP roms for the most part and since Bamf 1.0.9 I WILL NEVER go back... seriously EVERTHING works like it should...

Just imagine a debloated stock sense 3.0 ROM with some extra goodies.... it is the best ROM out right now. IMO... please give it a try,,, AND PLEASE READ EVERYTING FIRST. and as always, if you have any questions, thats what we are here for my friend... I have NO desire to even mess with AOSP roms anymore... to many problems ;) keep us filled in bro

Again, I have to agree with ssethv... excellent points... I had wanted to use AOSP ROMs because of their size and what I thought were the real Android experience... but this Sense ROM is really fantastic... I've had great battery life, as good if not better than any AOSP ROM. Everybody's battery experience is different... the best advice I can give is to know what your apps do and how often they sync is the best way to have good battery life.

I'll concur, the battery life on BAMF Forever has been great for me compared to other Sense ROMs I've run.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, but BAMF Forever is what the "official" Gingerbread update for the Thunderbolt should have been.

+1 to that!

I have tried:

Gingeritis
Liquid
Zeus
DroidTh3ory
BAMF Forever Cubed 1.0.7
BAMF Forever 1.0.7, 1.0.8 and now 1.0.9

I always switch back within a day to Forever 1.0.9. It is stable, it works, it is fast!

Sitting on this chair at home (I seldom move exceptnfor bathroom visits) I'm always on 4g. When I install a bamf rom I drop to 3g and seldom am on 4g. Any ideas why?

does this only happen on a bamf rom? If that is the case you may want to try a nother radio. But if not it could actually be in the area that you live in??? Can you give us some more information :-) I think I maybe able to help you with this, I just need some more information from you

I really hate to leave Cyanogen, I've had it since I rooted my Incredible 2 years ago but its not official for Thunderbolt yet, and it had a ridiculous amount of glitches (I had to factory reset my phone 4 times today because every time I tried to change my kernel it would go into a bootloop)

I'm excited to try out this rom!

EDIT: Flashed and made me love sense again...then I used TB to get my old apps back and everything crashed simultaneously...trying to fix that

So...
The Good:
Smooth as butter
great battery life
phone doesn't still think its in Alabama

The Bad:
No overclock
Sense

I just wish they'd release an official CyanogenMod for TBolt

With the htc kernel release and gb code release there will be fantastic custom roms available by the time I want to turn my tb in for the newest.and fastest available at that time.

I highly doubt there will ever be an official CM release for the BOLT... and honestly, I am way over CyanongemMod (just my opinion, please dont kill me ;) )

Trust me when I say this.... Me, fatboy, paintdrinkingpete have all been around the block a few times! When I told you on the last page the the best kernel to stay with is the stock one that was built into Forever ROM, that was done for a reason! Adrynaline is a GENIUS!!! he know exactly what he is doing.. i even said that I tried a few different kernels and none of them even compared to the stock one that he included. in fact, flashing diff kernels 'could' break certain funtionalities of an already perfect ROM ie... bluetooth, wifi (not saying it will but it could) .. also, there really is no reason to OC any rom (maybe a tablet for gaming) but not a ROM.... in my opinion. it just east battery and whats the point of OCing anyway? I can see OCing the low end if you have wake issues with your phone but just dont get why people OC on the high end. but now I am just ranting :)

to my next point :) Smooth as butter doesn't even come close to describing the FOREVER rom... IMO, it is the best ROM to hit the TBOLT yet. i said before that I used to like AOSP but something is ALWAYS not working right or who knows what may stop working with CM or other AOSP roms like it. In the last few years of flashing and flashing, I have actually noticed myself coming full circle.... I used to HATE sense with a passion, BUT now that Forever 1.0.9 is out and with all the awesome patches (fixes) for it, you cant get a better funtioning ROM... think about this for a second, OK, it is nearly a FULL sense 3 ROM with an amazing stock (built by ADR) kernel, and we get KILLER batter life.. the camera's work, mms works, GTalk works. you name it, and it works.

I promise you that If you stay with Bamf Forever 1.0.9 for just 2 weeks (hell make it one week) you will start to appreciate what sense truly is meant for! SEE, HTC ruined it becuase IMO of all the Bloatware that slowed up the phone...

I am running a themed version of 1.0.9 called Red Hot BAMF v1.1 by zhp pilot (straight from the oven) and it can be modded to have fancy transitions just like the CUBED ROM. I get even better batter life with this theme cuz of the color (color and brightness have an affect on battery life) here is the link to REDHOT if you want it...RedHotTheme 1.1. he also has a pink theme and is working on a Cyan and Green theme too... ZHP PILOT is extremely respected in the theming community and he leaves not one stone unturned.

If you have anymore questions please don't hesitate to ask.... if someone knows the answer, they will def be able to help... thats why this site is the BEST site for android user support!!!

thanks

seth

I'll definitely give it a shot for a while, no point switching from something that works for something that may not.
