Looks like our fearless leader got a response on the reboot issue from Verizon.

Mine reboots often with Pandora running, and sometimes with Google Maps. It never once rebooted before the OTA update, to my knowledge. Now it reboots quite a bit, sometimes 4 times a day. Oddly, the thunderbolt animation at boot up no longer includes sound. Not sure if that's by design or not.

I only had 1 reboot in a month before today. Today had 3 reboots so far. Once when using skype, twice when using slacker. I did a factory reset as well, and so far only 1 reboot when using slacker.

Mine has been rebooting a lot! It likes to reboot in the middle of phone calls, which is infuriating. This thing boots quicker than the Blackberry of old, but still takes a couple of minutes.

Hopefully the fix this ASAP. Doing a factory reset is a huge PITA. Getting all your free apps/sideloaded apps back on and setting up your shortcuts/widgets takes forever...

Oh yeah, and since the update my battery sucks balls. Some update...thanks VZW.

Mine has rebooted while browsing the market, listening to Pandora, and sending a message. There is not a particular trend to the reboots/random shut downs for me. Hope it's fixed soon.

i got the ota the morning it came out and I did not experience any reboot issue until today, while I was using Pandora. that was around noon today and I haven't had it happen again since. My battery life has improved no question. I was consistently getting about 25% battery drop for 75-90 minutes of awake time, and now I'm getting closer to 120 minutes or even more of awake time per 25% battery drop.

It would be nice if people who post about the reboots or battery issues would give a little more detail about the kinds or numbers of apps they have or are using during the reboot. Just out of curiosity if we can pinpoint some potential conflicts. I noticed someone else posted about the Pandora also.

Boots and ReBoots

Fir:mad:st time mine ever rebooted was last Thursday after loading the OTA and using Google Navigation while connected to a bluetooth handset. Second time was Friday morning right after I turned it back on after a night of charging while powered off. Called Verizon Friday, they had me do a factory reset. Third was a shutdown on Friday night while the device was lying face down on a table. Saturday I contacted HTC and provided them with lots of info, removed the battery to get the serial number. No Reboots or shutdowns again until about 1 hour ago, while navigating connected to bluetooth handset and trying to leave someone a VM, when the device shut down completely. I just spoke with HTC escalation, they wanted to know my locations for each event, they acknowledged that this is a big problem, they are trying to find the reason and will send an update out when they figure it out!

Rebooting

HTC called me back today. They are working on a fix. I had Verizon send me a new phone. It didn't have update installed. Have had no problems with it so far, knock on wood.

Wasn't a rebooting issue one of the things that delayed the Thunderbolt launch to begin with? Seem to remember blackmanx mentioning something about the phone and network not meshing or something.

Mine rebooted twice today once right when I hung up on a call and once about a second after I got a text

I got the OTA the first day out and had no reboots until yesterday, when I had three. Pulled the battery and it's been fine the last 24 hours. There was no pattern to the activities prior to the reboots - reading mail, playing a backgammon app, opening an app.

Just had first reboot ever and have owned this launch day. It happened during mid phone call...then a second time after i called back and hung up. After reboot....my battery widget went from about 40% to 23%. I initiated a Restart and battery bumped back up to 35%. The battery seemed to fall quickly there after though. :(

Apple iphones are loooking better every day. Tis a shame.

Just had my first reboot ever. I got the phone on launch day and never had any problems with it, not rooted. I decided for some reason just to check for a software update and the minute I hit the Check New my phone rebooted. Also, like someone else mentioned earlier my startup animation didn't have sound.

I'm not in a 4G area, and I am experiencing reboots. So I don't think it's just a 4G thing.

Some pure speculation: I wonder if it has to do with fast boot? It's the only setting that deals with turn offs/restarts.

I'm completely stock and have some games downloaded, but nothing dealing with phone settings.

I did a battery pull while the phone was on and pulled out the sim card. held down the power button for 15 seconds then put the battery and sim back in and turned it on. never reboot once since then
