Looks like we are starting to see why the Nexus 7 is so cheap

Hearing these problems so far about the Nexus 7 (screen not adhering, dead pixels, flickering/static) makes me nervous on what I'm going to receive. Turns out we're starting to see why its so cheap. Anyone else feeling nervous or even buyers remorse about their Nexus 7's?

Nope I'm always happy with what I get. If there's a problem I'll return it and get another one. But I feel no remorse or have even a second thought about getting it.

Please close this thread. Have you never heard of defective products? They happen for every major release of any product that can be defective. Only because you see a thread where a few people have defective units, doesn't mean overall the Nexus 7 is a pile of crap.

That is true and like always I hope I don't get a defective and I'm forced to wait longer :(

Ok, but all of these different defects? Come on now. I'm not saying it's a pile of crap. It's actually good to know that a lot of you are happy with your purchases!

All products that are mass produced have lemons occur in the production runs - even Apple stuff (like my Macbook Pro where the logic board was faulty resulting in the fans never going on because the temperature sensor was not sending accurate temps to the CPU - result was a laptop where the logic board eventually burned up and I got my hand burned to boot).

Just because it is new, does not mean it is good.

^^^^^^What i always say about any electronic device^^^^^

Ok, I was just worried because it was different kinds of defects.

I agree every time I see a new iPhone launched. However a $199 or $249 tablet that packs a serious punch in terms of hardware is "good"

Confirmation bias. At any given launch, you will likely see more posts about negative problems since those who have perfect devices have less of a reason to post about it.

Nowhere did I read the OP say the Nexus 7 was a "pile of crap." You think this thread should be closed yet the OP has legitimate concerns.....WOW!!!!

I think it's customary to hear a lot of horror stories about any new product launch from a relatively small, but loud minority of users who have problems with their devices. For every one problematic device there are countless trouble-free ones shipped. There will always be some issues at launch, the real thing to pay attention to is the way the problems are addressed by Google and other retailers. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

I haven't heard to many issues with the 7. There is no such thing as perfect product when you mass produce everything. There is always a few lemons.

The concerns are not legitimate, the issues the OP describes are not wide spread. So yes on that regards alone I want this thread closed. All he/she is trying to do is drum up a big frenzy.

As with any electronic some will have problems. Even the iPad had glass separation issues.

Agreed, this is a common occurrence. If you get a bum unit just return it.

Except only small number of people have it now because most of us were stupid and bought it from Google play. That ratio of people, those that have it vs. those having problems, is a little high. I mean there's almost no other threads other than either those people angry for the shipping fiasco or hardware problems!

Just Wow!

Sounds like the VP of Public Relations for Google. (or President of the Fanboy Society.

Instead of enforced silence, I prefer to hear other's views thank you very much. (kinda- sorta like why people decide to frequent a forum - duh.)

If you have a small sample size (only a few products in consumers hands so far) and you "may" and I do emphasize the word, "may" see emerging patterns of quality faults, guess what - that's potentially not good and it's at least interesting.

It's not like we have just a few few stray posters out of a million+ owners posting here.

The product is only in a very few hands so far and a few quality issues have been reported. I'm not ready to make a hasty assumption yet that the Nexus is a POC, but I sure am interested in the subject, so please stow the "it's all good, so silence the masses" dribble.

(as a side note - the Tab2 7.0 that I returned in order to switch to a Nexus had outstanding build quality and I don't recall seeing so much as a whimper about any defects in forums regarding that Tablet)
