I just read of an update making its way that is rumored to address a lot of the ui stutters... http://www.androidheadlines.com/20...html[ /URL] Anyone know anything about this?

It seems to be only for the interntaional version so far. In the US, the carriers will have to take LG's code, add their bloatware, test thoroughly to make sure the bloatware counteracts the improvements LG made, and then release it to us.

With my d855 SEA still no update - still have v10i. :(
Any news about that?

^^^What does it say in your Update Centre? Mine says I'm running latest software.

Heh....

We'll see. I'm hoping they improved the code a bit though. I mean, it didn't surprise me much that the UI had some hiccups here and there. Between the overhauled Optimus UI and the higher resolution, we were bound to have some spots where it kind of stutter-stepped. I have the ultimate control device to compare against as my wife has a Nexus 5... there are spots where the Nexus 5 was quicker and smoother to transition, but other times where the G3 breezed past.... which is basically just evidence that LG can do some optimization and improve them.

I mean, get ride of those UI hitches, and the thing would be damn near perfect.

The link says its this version which I've had for like two weeks

I got impatient.. I saw that cloudy supported the d851 and it also had the latest build, so I loaded it up.

Yep... That update is no joke. Huge improvements across the board. I lost Wi-Fi calling, but I'll give that up for a ROM that runs this well. I'll just deal with that until one of the T-Mobile native kits gets updated.

Really, it's like my phone finally coughed up whatever was stuck in its throat.

Is your g3 a sim free phone as i have the uk three version of the g3 and im still on v10j. Still tells me im up to date even though there is a newer version.

I have a T-Mobile US model... Those are at 10m stock. The latest, and last 4.4 based on the model number, is like 10XX I think.

Not sure why you haven't got the update. If you are unlocked, is expect that you would get the build before the OEM versions dropped.

Btw Cloudy supports every version, I believe. It uses the aroma installer to choose the model when you install it.

I got an 170mb+ update last week here in the UK, and haven't noticed any difference in performance at all. But then I'm not having any issues with the G3 anyway.

I just got the v10j update last week too! International sim free phone. I think we just have to wait for a little bit for v10l (is it that good?).

My uk g3 is has the three network boot animation so i guess u would call branded but as its a three phone it came out the box unlocked. Im in no rush as the v10j update i received a week or so ago made my phone run very quick and smooth but would be nice to see if the v10L makes it even better.. But saying that ive never had to wait very long in the past when it comes to 3 releasing updates

It may be a problem app causing the UI stuttering. I'm also on TMO - US and mine is as smooth as butter. No lag. No stutter.

Oh, it's there and its not a rouge app. Not saying it is bad or severe, but using one back to back with a Nexus 5 and the lack of overall smoothness sticks out. It's nothing fatal, mind you... LG just had some work to do to optimize the drivers, framework, etc... Keep in mind that not only did they completely overhaul the Optimus UI, they did it on a much higher resolution phone. Some issues with overall function would be expected.

Sweet.... there was a lot of teeth-gnashing that said that the hardware just couldn't keep up and it couldn't get out of its own way. I have to say that I wondered it they just pushed things out on the SD801 when they should have waited. Well, that's crap... it was just a software thing. I mean, where the side by side different was night and day, it now flows pretty well.... closer in agility to my Nexus 5 than what it was on earlier builds.

Again... to be expected... New phone, new hardware, new UI, new everything.

Hey Leo what is cloudy? I have a T-Mobile G3 and I'd like to download the update. Lack of wifi calling doesn't bother me, I already have it turned off lol

I just wrote a post about how I got rid of the lag on my AT&T G3 and my phone now smokes my brothers HTC One M8 in an AB comparison. Switching the runtime from Dalvik to ART cured everything and now I can't make my phone lag even if I tried to. It is an amazing difference really. No wonder ART will be the default runtime over Dalvik in Android 5.0 Lollipop.
