Moto X 2014 Cases!

I'd just picked up clear back TPU case + screen protector + charger from Verizone store for my AT&T Moto X (2nd Gen). The bundle cost me $50 + tax. The case is awesome with clear and curved back, which fits perfectly with the phone. At the front, it gives a little lip to protect from surface scratching. TPU side is good enough for normal wear, not much grip though. TPU also covers buttons, but there's no texture for wake-up button.
Associate at store applied screen protector for me! You get 3 protectors, 2 cloths and 1 smoother card.
I'm satisfied with this protection for my phone so far and I'll highly recommend it to anyone else who's looking for similar kind of protection.

Regards,
Chinmay

P.S. I'll post pic.s later..
Is this it?

Since focusing on phone cases, I've noticed them more now when out in public and I've notice people dropping there phones. Like the other day I saw two girls talking than one of them drops their phone from normal level face down but thank goodness they had a case on and were frantically checking their phone to see if it was ok ROFL.

I ordered the basic black 32 gb pure edition because I knew I would always have a case on it. Based on some early recommendations here, I ordered a matte black Diztronic case ($9.99 at Amazon), which arrived before the phone did. The case works as it should -- cut-outs in all the right places and the buttons work well in it. There is a solid lip around the screen to protect it. The only thing I lose is the dimple on the back.

This may not be my forever case, but it will protect my phone until I find something I like better.

I didn't realize the Supcase was in stock again! Woot. Also, a question for any recent Supcase buyers, is the lip still kinda low on the case or did they raise it with the new batch so the speaker grill doesn't touch the table if you have it face-down on the table? Because while I don't put it face down that often, it's still something that ever so slightly concerns me.

The lip is pretty low on this case which is why I recommend a screen protector if you want piece of mind or if you tend to drop your phone. The lip of the case is just barely above the speaker grill.

However the grip with the case is really good so it shouldn't slip out of your hand.

I have not noticed any problems with that myself; I mainly use the speakerphone feature in the car. I too have read those comments, and some folks have had to make a small perforation to accommodate the mic. There are also comments that Cimo corrected this in newer cases, so I'm curious if your case will have a cutout for the mic. I ordered mine as soon as the new X came out, so if they have, I might just order a new one.

It does have a cutout for the mic.

The CIMO looks pretty good and it has all the cutouts for the 4 microphones, power button, etc? Do you think it would protect the phone in a fall. Thanks.

Honestly, I hope to never find out and can't say at this time. I really love the feel of this phone but am deathly afraid of damaging it.

I have the previous Cimo for the 2014 X (I have a new one on order - the one I have doesn't have the top mic cutout), and I actually dropped my phone the other day. It landed face down, after falling about 3 feet onto a tile floor. I got lucky and it's fine - not a scratch. I dropped my 2013 Moto X onto pavement once and it also had the Cimo back case on it. Again, I got lucky and no scratches. I think if the phone lands face down and not at a sharp angle, the Cimo gives the edges enough of a lip to protect it. It's no guarantee, of course, but it's better than no case at all, and the Cimo honestly doesn't add any bulk to the phone. Now if I can only find a tempered glass screen protector that fits...

has anyone cutout one of these CIMO cases to cerate a bumper? I think I'll try this as I don't like cases but the naked X2 is just too slippery & vulnerable.

I think I commented on a post of yours on g+. Haha. I have been looking at another Moto X 2014 with the purple speaker grilles and they are completely smooth. I have the Dark Metallic Grey and it is textured like the power button. It looks like this is why my speaker grille touches the table with the supcase when face down and why most people (with the non-textured grille) don't have an issue. Very frustrating as I really like the case. I'm using the Hula bumper right now, but the Supcase feels better in hand.

Supcase also make a ""Heavy Duty" version of this case. While the back is not clear (and, of course, the extra protection is more bulky), the lip is more pronounced (and it also has an integrated screen protector).

Just looking at it, I'm going to say "minimally", especially in the case of things like landing on the corner or the types of drops that do the most damage.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fine-looking TPU case. It'll protect a bit against minor drops causing dings in the aluminum, for sure, but it's thin TPU. Any impact is going to go straight through it and be transferred on to a slightly larger point on the phone, and most drops over a couple of feet are going to happen almost as if the case was not there.

I've always favored the hard-plastic-over-soft-rubber design, since that tends to absorb some of the impact, and also because any remaining impact tends to be spread out over a large area of the phone's case, minimizing the type of "point" impact that has a tendency to shatter screens.

My current case, which is another Amazon cheapo referenced above in the thread, doesn't have the hard plastic covering the rubber at the corners. I kinda wish it did.

I've got a Bear Motion slim case that I've been happy with so far.

As an update, I got my Supcase Frost clear/black and it's great. The shipping from Amazon was ULTRA FAST!!! The case has all the cutouts and its feels like it will withstand a fall. I also have a screen protector on which would on some added protection. The front lip barely covers the front part of the phone so I would recommend a screen protector. One thing I'm concerned about is the bumper covering the antenna affects the quality of the connection? Because it covers the metal part of the phone but that could be an issue with a case in general but so far it looks like it's doing fine.
