Moto X 2014 Orders delayed?

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

CRAZY SHEET! I've ordered mine ON LAUNCH DAY (09/16), pure edition, exact same configs (except for the greeting), and my Est. delivery date: 10/13. What the FAQ? '-'

My guess is that Initially Motorola gave themselves a large window to get the order completed. Now they have a better idea of the timeframe they need to get orders fulfilled, they can give a shorter and more accurate delivery date. I assume, and hope, that you will be receiving your phone before your original estimated delivery date and before the orders placed after yours.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

Ditto. I ordered a navy blue back, black front 32GB model yesterday and my estimated delivery is October 9th. I suspect that you guys who are in the queue ahead of me will receive yours first (depending on availability of materials for your specific build), and the original delivery estimate was conservative at first, and is now more refined. Again, with so many build options, it's hard to say for sure, but I suspect you'll be pleasantly surprised by when you get it. After all, your original estimated delivery is the date after which you would start complaining about not receiving your phone when promised. You won't be complaining if it shows up two weeks early...

And I would love to consider the Droid Turbo, but I'm not on Verizon- AT&T has me grandfathered in on unlimited data at a reasonable rate before they upped the charges, so I am not going to change carriers, which made my decision easy.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

I checked out as a guest also and called to have them try to link the order to my page and they said they couldn't. I complained and they gave me 50 bucks in credit. not a bad gig.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

Is there a way to track the status of your order with just the order number? I didn't log in when creating the order because it kept trying to get me to sign up for Google+. I reached out to Motorola to try and tie the order to my actual account, but they didn't really help. They sent me a link that doesn't work.

I did the same thing yesterday but only got $25 in credit. But I've received no notice about how I'm supposed to access this credit. Did they send you an email or something?

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

The worse thing about all of this IMHO is that they've taken my money and will have it for a month (or more) before I receive my product. Very poorly handled all around. I've had MANY smartphones over the years: Apple, Palm, Sony, Samsung, Nokia, HTC, even other Motorolas, but this latest go-round has really left a sour taste in my mouth.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

So I did get a surprise package from motorola today and I was so excited, as my mom brought it to me and I told her dont throw the box at me but she did lol. Upon opening it I only the got the 360 from the order I placed. So Moto X is still MIA lol. Something to play with until I get it, atleast its not a damn gear watch that you can only use with samsung phones.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

Ordered Pre Edition on the 16th (first preorder day) 32GB Black Front and regular black back and dark grey trim.
Just received a shipping notice tonight. Should have it 10/2, this Thursday.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

It seems Moto has some supply issues or they 'pre-configured' some combinations for quick shipping. I ordered a black/black/grey VZW 32GB on Friday at 06:00 ET and it arrived today at 12:00. 2 day delivery is almost too quick (not that I'm complaining), considering it was 2-day shipping and FedEx even sat on the delivery for a day at the local distro facility (it was 15 minutes away from me on Sunday night).

I have to believe Moto had pre-built combinations they predicted would be popular and this would explain why orders placed later are shipping sooner. I highly doubt it's a pure 'build-to-order' operation, it'd be a bit foolish to handle fulfillment that way on a high volume 'custom' product.

This guy gets it.

I got my 360 today (ordered on the 16th) and currently tinkering with it connected to my Nexus 7 since I currently use an iPhone. Still checking my order status, Fedex (though since I shipped it to the office, I don't think I'll get any info there), and this thread obsessively. When you consider dst3r's theory of more unique combinations taking longer, it's pretty cool to know that my device will be all that more distinct but I can still feel that 'I WANT IT NOW!' feeling in the back of my head.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

32gb Pure Purple/Black/Orange ordered on 9/26 with delivery est. of 10/8. Just logged into my Moto acc. and it was shipped today and will be delivered Thur. I did NOT receive anything about the shipment I was just lucky and logged into my acc.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

(I hope you excuse me for some english mistakes. I'm still getting used to it, I have been in the US for a bit more than a month, now. And if you don't want to read all the email, just go down and see the last part)
So I reached out motorola, through their website, and tried the online support via chat.
Here goes the transcript of the conversation:

[TD="colspan: 2"][05:21:04 PM] Hi, my name is Rhodora. How may I help you?
[05:21:14 PM] Diego: Hi Rhodora!
[05:22:22 PM] Diego: I placed an order for the new Moto X at the day that pre-orders started. It was 09/16. My estimated delivery date, now, is for 10/13.
[05:23:09 PM] Diego: I just used the moto maker to build the exact same cell phone, with the same parts, colors, trim and memory... and it says est. date 10/09.
[05:23:49 PM] Rhodora: I see
[05:23:59 PM] Rhodora: How may I be of assistance for you today?
[05:23:58 PM] Diego: Also, originally, my order was scheduled to 09/26, but thanks to site overload, it took me 3 hours to finish the order and pay it...
[05:24:45 PM] Diego: So I'd like to know if there's any additional information wether my cellphone is actually being built, or if it's really going to take more than two weeks for it to arrive...
[05:25:08 PM] Rhodora: I'll be more than glad to check the order for you.
[05:25:14 PM] Diego: My online order status say 'not shipped' and the date is set to 10/13.
[05:26:03 PM] Diego: I'd like to know if you have any additional information about my order...
[05:27:07 PM] Rhodora: May I have your order number please?
[05:27:08 PM] Diego: Oh, and sorry if I'm sounding a bit stressed... it's just because my actual phone is totally dead, it won't even turn on...
[05:27:14 PM] Diego: Order number: (numbers removed)
[05:28:19 PM] Rhodora: Thanks
[05:28:47 PM] Rhodora: May I have you verify the name, email address and phone number listed on this order, please?
[05:30:13 PM] Diego: (data removed)
[05:30:17 PM] Diego: (data removed)
[05:30:26 PM] Diego: (data removed)
[05:30:33 PM] Rhodora: Thank you for verifying, Diego!
[05:31:08 PM] Rhodora: Your Moto X - Pure Edition with T-Mobile SIM 32GB with Non-Glare Film for Moto X (2nd Gen.) by Power Support order has been booked and confirmed.
[05:32:07 PM] Diego: And... what exactly does it means? Is it still being built or something like that?
[05:32:36 PM] Rhodora: Expected date of delivery would be on 10/13/2014
[05:33:06 PM] Rhodora: Yes, the status is already EXPORTED.
[05:33:19 PM] Rhodora: Meaning, we are still building the device for you.
[05:33:53 PM] Diego: Hm... nice. Not what I wanted, but more precise than simply 'not shipped'. :)
[05:34:50 PM] Rhodora: We will send you an email with the tracking number once we shipped the package to you, okay.
[05:35:28 PM] Rhodora: If you need any more information please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.
[05:35:37 PM] Diego: Ok, thank you!
[05:35:53 PM] Rhodora: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
[05:36:03 PM] Diego: No, thank you! You were very helpful. Thank you, and have a nice day
[05:36:07 PM] Rhodora: Here at Motorola, we are always looking to improve our customer support. If you have time, we also sent an email survey to rate the service I was able to provide you. I would greatly appreciate if you can fill that out. I hope I was able to help you with this. Thanks for choosing Motorola!
[05:36:12 PM] Rhodora: Same to you.

Sooo... it seems like my order is coming from another country (China, I'd bet on it). Maybe it could arrive in the next few days (in no more than a week, I suppose.)

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

Based on what I said before, I did some (theoretical) math:

1) I made another phone on moto maker, exactly equal to my actual order. Since the delivery date of the new one was around 10/09, seems like they would be sending it around 10/07.
2) Being so, I am assuming that most orders will be built within 2 days prior it's shipping. It would mean 10/05.
3) I'm supposing that they are sending (from China) ready-made moto X along with moto X parts, to assemble and keep the orders flowing while they wait for another parts shipment.
4) So the China import should arrive around 10/02 or 10/03 to allow the phones ordered now to be built on time...
5) Taking all in consideration, it may reduce 3 or 4 days of manufacturing, but add 1 or 2 for shipping sake... And give 5 days of Motorola's underpromise/overachieve policy.

Even though this all it's pure 'mocking draft', I'm expecting to have my M-X around 10/07, at max, thinking about two days of Border Protection, distribution work and shipping time. Maybe it's not the initial date that I wanted (09/29) but it's a bit better than the actual shipping date shown on Order Status (13/10).

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

Forgot to mention that if it really does take until 10/23 and the Droid Turbo is available by then I will def cancel this order for the Moto X. I heard the Turbo will have all the same Moto software features with a much better battery, camera, and processor and hopefully an SD card slot. Basically all of the shortcomings of this 2014 Moto X will be covered in Droid Turbo, with the cost being slightly higher and the footprint being larger (not sure it will be a 1-handed phone).

The only problem with the Droid Turbo will be that it does not get updated nearly as quickly as the Moto X on Verizon. That has been the case for the past year. When the Moto X gets Android L, the Droid will be waiting for most likely another few months. But hey, I could be wrong! Turbo seems like it'll be a great device...I just worry about it being left behind. Plus...it looks kinda ugly :P

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

I can't stress it enough. Create a profile on FedEx.com and THEY will tell you when it ships. They are very helpful that way. ;)

Thanks! Worked perfectly, no email from Motorola but did get one from FedEx using this method. Shipped today, delivery Friday...

Yea I just set this up today. Hoping it works! And hope I hear something soon. Ordered 9/26, 32 gb, black front, cognac back, silver trim.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

I just setup my FedEx Delivery Manager account and can vouch that there is delivery information listed, even though nothing was communicated (yet) from Motorola.

+1 for this method!

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

I ordered mine a few hours ago with a black face with bamboo back pure edition. It said 4 days until I placed the order and then it changed to delivery of 10/9. I already got the "we're building it" email. Hope I get it in 4 days instead of the current estimated date of 10/9.

Got fedex notice that my Moto X is being delivered on Friday 10/3. So ordered on Monday 9/29 and should get 4 days later. This was the pure edition with Bamboo/Black Front and Grey time.
