MR2 OTA Update (1.66.605.2) (Leak)

I have to send my bolt back in the next day to two. i'm really looking to see what happens over the next few days

I haven't rebooted, yet, since the second update. Just because you or "one person" is having a problem doesn't mean everyone else that had problems before are after the latest update.

The problem with that is, if there is one there will be more. It should fix ALL of them.

To be honest, mine seems a bit less than before. I'm gonna let it drain the battery and then give it a full charge and see how it goes after that.

I hope your experience is an anomaly. Back in the BB days, it often took a day or two after an upgrade for things to settle in. I don't have enough experience with Android to say whether or not that is the case here.

I'm hoping so too. That's why I'm going to give it a full battery drain to settle and see how it goes.

Make sure that if your Windows settings has "hide extensions for known file types" enabled that you didn't actually name the file "PG05IMG.zip.zip"

(FWIW, I still can't believe that's a default Windows setting)

I just messed with these settings a couple of months ago so I'm amazed that I did no think about that! HBOOT is automatically loading the file now that I solved that. I was naming it .zip when it was already a .zip file. So just as you said, it solved my problem.

Thank you!

I'm anxious to hear if battery life is improved at all with this update.

Just FYI but 2.3(Gingerbread) is the update which should up battery life due to better power management, not this update. That shouldn't be far away, though.

I understand that GB should definitely have a positive impact on battery. I noticed some improvement with the MR1 update. I was thinking along the lines of better, more consistent signal that I was reading about in the threads and I was hoping that better signal handling might translate into a positive impact on battery usage.

I'm not expecting miracles, just hoping for maybe another step in the right direction.

I've been wondering about that too. If it addresses the data-connectivity problems (not necessarily related to random reboots), I suppose it could reduce the amount of time that the phone is searching for a signal, which may in turn increase battery life, at least for those of us having data-connectivity problems. But, on the other hand, if it increases the power of the phones radio to better hold onto weak or inconsistent tower signals, I suppose that could be more of a power draw.

You and I think alike...I agree with both of your thoughts here. I'm hoping for the first scenario...

Downloaded, installed no prob. although did have to uncheck the "fast boot" option to get it to install... so far so good. Reboots were driving me crazy. Although my reboots were several a day only when I was driving when at home on wifi no reboots... we'll see how tomorrow goes as I be driving lots tomorrow!!
