MR2 OTA Update (1.66.605.2) (Leak)

Downloaded, installed no prob. although did have to uncheck the "fast boot" option to get it to install... so far so good. Reboots were driving me crazy. Although my reboots were several a day only when I was driving when at home on wifi no reboots... we'll see how tomorrow goes as I be driving lots tomorrow!!

Good Luck ! Please keep us informed of your findings.

I'm guessing here, but would you have to reset all of those things since the RUU factory resets the device?

Thank you, but I figured it out. I had all of the settings properly set but the phone only recognized the ringtone. A quick reboot solved my problem.

Forgive the dumb question, but where should the 1.66.605.2 show up? I have looked at my about phone-software information and all that shows up is Android version 2.2.1 and Baseband version 1.16.00.0402w_1. Am I missing something? Also, Android market is completly broken - it won't even load. Any thoughts to help an Android novice?

Settings > About Phone > Software Information

My phone shows the Build Number to be <1.66.605.2 CL343045 release-keys> and the Software Number to be <1.66.605.2>. Also, unlike yours, my Baseband Version is <1.39.00.0508w, 0.01.69.0510w_3>That's how each is written in the menu except the "< >" are not in there.

Figures what out?

I posted the full ruu for non rooters, plus roms for rooters.

Looks figured out to me.

Oh I had posted that before I went over to XDA and found your planejane rom. :) You are an amazing man sir!

i downloaded and installed this leak. however when it was installing and showing ok for each item installed one of the tp sd bypass. anyone know that means? I am also not able to download anything from the market at all.

So can us unrooted folks install this and not mess up any future OTAs that come out? I'm about to take a road trip so If I can fix the 3G rebooting issues I'm having before I leave, that would be awesome!

this is a signed official build, and will ONLY work for uprooted phones (will brick a rooted phone) and you will not loose access to future OTA's.

This is however the complete ROM and will completely wipe your phone of all data (SD card will be fine).

It seems to have fixed the random reboot problem for me. The phone did power cycle once at about 5 this morning but it was doing that about every three days before the bum update.

Random Question, is it normal for the files to be so large?

For an RUU yes, since it completely wipes your phone it needs the entire ROM. OTA's only patch specific files and are much smaller.

The problem with that is, if there is one there will be more. It should fix ALL of them.

1. Some people were having occasional software rebootes even before MR1 upgrade
2. We do not know for a fact what is causing the rebootes and that it is the same bug on all phones
3. Software development is not a black or white thing. Every time you edit a file you run the possibility of altering how it interacts with a hindered other files any one of which can cause a bug winch you have to track down.
4. Almost every device random reboots at one point or another (often times not even noticed by the owner), not just Thunderbolts. The fact that it does it once does not necessarily mean it will happen again. Sometimes this is caused by a third party app.

Installed smoothly
GPS Moe Accurate
My Verizon works

Strangely Market is older verion so no push for apps

Now all we need is a root method

This is normal after an update, but normally the market will update itself within a few hours, strangely though for me it hasnt yet and I have been running it just over a day.

Last line of a short description and the only time it mentions apk data...

I know, I just realized it the other day too when I was giving out bad info., but fact is that it's there, and clear, and NOT misleading and is an amazing app. Highly recommended for root users.

The point is that most of those features ONLY work if the phone ROOTED, and since the update we are talking about is for NON ROOTED phones the app is all but worthless to us.

Really liking the update. Phone seems much more stable. Only downside is that my mobile hotspot will not work; I will have to try it again later. Also, I can't access some of my previously purchased and free apps. I guess they have to update their compatibility.

working great!

So far so good! Seems to be very stable. No reboots and I've been driving since about 730 this am its now what 1215... It would have definitely rebooted several times by now! Only lost the 3g once but I was in marginal area... Hotspot works, message about it being free is gone, but it does still work. Had one odd error msg. when a txt message failed but clicked resend and it went through no prob. Not in a 4g area today so i cant speak for that. 3g seems to work better, and by that i mean stay connected to 3g longer and have a stronger signal, and I live in the country!! A couple apps didn't come back but i believe someone else mentioned the market now checks to see if the apps are compatible with your phone so i would say thats the reason for that... video skype doesn't work anymore as others had said so that kinda sucks... but i would rather have a phone that doesn't reboot so i'm good with that. So far i'm happy!!

Sorry to ask a noob question again, but after the MR2 update has been flashed can I remove the PG05IMG file from the SD card?

What apps are you no longer able to run? This is one of the things that is making me hesitate on this update...My Bolt is running well at this point and all my apps work.

If you have the leaked Skype Mobile (Video), it won't work after the upgrade.

Someone else said that HBO Go and Discovery also do not work. Maybe they'll be updated soon ... or maybe Verizon is up to something no good?

My market still hasn't updated. Any suggestions?

Also my contacts are all messed up. I'm thinking about redoing the update.

So far it seems that ones being reported to not work with the MR2 are apps that would be data intensive. Could it be that Verizon is hoping to get tiered data plans out there before these are fixed? They are all about the $$.
