Android 7.0 is now a year old and my Samsung Galaxy note 5 still hasn't gotten it. No prompt to update, when I click update manually it says I'm on the latest firmware with 6.0.1. I tried connecting it to Samsung smart switch and clicking backup but it just backs up doesn't say you have an update or anything. I know this phone got 7.0, every other user has it... I'm on telus and according to google telus released this update for this phone already. Phone is unrooted, what do I do?

Oreo is almost out at this point, its just sad! Please help

Unfortunately carrier updates are up to each carrier to release/deploy. Is your phone still on a Telus SIM card? Some carriers limit their updates to being on their network only.

Yes I use a telus Sim card, but doesn't everybody need a Sim card? I'm not sure I understand what you mean. How can I update my phone then?

Some carriers restrict their updates so that unlocked devices with another company's SIM card won't get the update unless they switch back to their carrier network. But this doesn't seem to be your case. Have you confirmed with Telus that the update has fully rolled out? I'm assuming you're in Canada, so not sure if it'll work or not, but here in the US you can also update Samsung phones inside BestBuys with Samsung Experience areas, that might work as well.

Well there is a security update today. So enjoy a beautiful phone that is fast
