Above link has a slick way to get Netflix working on our Optimus S phones. I tried it out and it works great! I've streamed 20 minutes or so and am convinced it works well.

Here's the meat of it (beware, it might break things):

Root is required. Make a Nandroid backup!

Change the following lines in /system/build.prop to make your phone think it is a HTC G2:
1. ro.product.model=HTC Vision
2. ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
Reboot
Install the netflix apk (if you haven?t already)

I changed my build.prop and I still didnt get it to work.. u def need to give more info... otherwise i say its all bs.

uninstall netflix then reinstall after changing build prop and it should woork

it didnt break swipe for me.. Dude.. I edited my buildprop and FLASHED it as a new ROM. DOESNT WORK. I check my buildprop and its changed... I log into netflix app and it loads then says ur device isnt supported bla bla bla. So if u could give some real steps that would be great. Otherwise I still say bs. CAN ANYONE RE-CREATE this working? I HAVE a netflix acct and it is all bad on my end. Ive tried many times last night.

Wouldn't say bs, article does say this hack doesn't work for everyone and is hit and miss.... I gave it a go, signed in to my account, loaded my queue, picked a show to play and then got the "your device is not supported......" worth a try though!

Nope, no joke. I followed the instructions on the link and it's been working on my (wife's) phone. I am running Reborn Rom v2.0. Perhaps I'm just lucky, it looks like this is a YMMV. Anyway, I don't have any better instructions than the link provides. I simply followed them and it worked.

It totally work for me, running Reborn v1.0 (Nameless Rom), except it has a green bar running across the top of the video. Otherwise, it's golden.

Works on the V too. I have tried this with RebornRom, ShellRom, CM7, and aospCMod. Works on all 4 of them for me.

I have tried all roms and none work for me. I guess its YMMV...... Tryin it on some other Optimus S's now....

Ok.. for those of you that its working for... do u have Stagefright enabled or what? Tryin to figure out why its only some that work...

make sure also after you change the build prop that you reboot the phone first than install the netflix..most def works
