Probably doesn't help but I took the mms.apk from reborn and it loaded but forced closed when I tried to do anything with it.
I also tried the mms.apk from scott piligrim and it didn't take what so ever

They don't install like normal apps that way. Add me on twitter. I had something put together already that I didn't post including different mms.apk that I haven't been able to get results from. But, then again, I can't seem to get mms working on my phone anyway.

EDIT: I think we should move this discussion to the main aospCMod thread as well as it pertains directly to the interests of anyone flashing the ROM.

To add data to the discussion, but not a solution... I also have added many different mms.apks and cooked these directly into a re-engineered aosp rom without success in being able to receive mms's.

Glad you guys ran with this! Aosp makes some great roms and it is good for Sprint users to use it also. I have moved on to the Nexus S4G but that LG was a nice phone. If you have questions don't hesitate to ask and I will help where I can. My Optimus doesn't have service anymore so I can't test but keep up the good work. Now if I can just get Aosp to get a NS4G I will be set! LOL

I feel like I might be the only one but... I've run into an issue where running the normal-u01-img-signed.zip will mess up my mms.apk.The stock messaging app no longer shows up in the app drawer, but still exists (with the same permissions) in system/app. I've tried formatting everything (system AND data) along with cache.

I have tried several things, flashing JUST aosp, app is there and working, then gapps, app is there and working, this conversion, it breaks.

Also, this is using the 5/23 version of aosp.

Side note: I don't use the stock messaging app, but I use GoSMS and run into a situation where I can no longer read incoming texts besides the pop-up window with the notification. It works as long as I have the stock messaging app in the drawer, but it breaks with this zip.

Thanks for all the help and work though. I'm brand new coming off of Zefie's CM7, so I am behind in these threads.

I doubt mms is fixed for sprint yet but when you do try it, try before flashing the sprint zip to confirm if the sprint zip breaks it. thanks! I will probably update this weekend to reflect the newest release. hope you guys can wait till then

Pretty much SOS - same old stuff. Sprint zip breaks sms/mms. Camera zoom slider works, but camera always shoots 1x. Don't know about BT since don't use. Don' t know/care about new bells and whistles.

Let's be careful about the wording though. The zip doesn't break the functionality of sms/mms which is how some may interpret that statement. It simply doesn't allow it to be viewed from the app listing...
LOL about new bells and whistles. And I don't care about the bluetooth function either. I would like to see the microphone/earpiece attachment operational again.

UPDATE: Updated with all current information to reflect the latest 20110531 build. Sprint zip packages no longer "break" (remove) native android messaging. So, you may choose to use 3rd party sms/mms or default/stock version.

I tried to flash the ROM and kept getting a not signed error. I toggled the sig verification and it would flicker and come back with nothing on the bottom saying successful. I install gapps, bluepill, and sprint.zips and get stuck at the LG screen.

Sounds like you didn't successfully flash the ROM. Is that correct? I would suggest to re-download the ROM and toggle usb and load it to the root of your sd and try to reflash (run on sentence lol). Then flash the other zips in order as you stated. If you need ROM support please use the aospCMod thread. Sounds like a ROM issue and not a sprint update zip issue.
