New EVO Battery Life Sticky: Please Contribute

Same boat as a lot of folks.....sure, the EVO does a ton of things better than practically any device on the market but carrying around extra batteries for swap outs every 4-6 hours is becoming rather comical. Surely, Google has seen these types of threads and is working on some type of fix for this battery hog. Right? I was on vacation this past week and would pull it off of the charger to catch up on emails from throughout the day and it would be at 50% in an hour or so....I have followed all advice on here and nothing works....love the EVO but somethings gotta change.
really? Ppl who use the EVO as a netbook just need the big battery wow ppl are really stubborn about addin a 1/4 inch to their EVO I pity the fool

People who use it as a netbook? What are you talking about? I rooted 2.230 today and it's better but still way off the mark.

Motorola managed to get excellent battery life with the Droid X so its puzzling why the HTC phones, the EVO and the Incredible do so poorly. It's HTC's issue to solve and they don't seem to care. Buying an extended battery just to get a full days use out of a phone doesn't make any sense at all. No pun intended.

Install System Panel monitor your device, some apps need their sync frequencies changed, I get 9hrs easy while surfing the web playing music and answering emails and such in an office which gets crappy cell coverage.

My cpu used to work at 10% while "idle" now its at 3% or lower, these devices never stop working.

Really get system panel and really see what your device is doing.

Ok....I unplugged at 10am with HEAVY usage....mostly some internet surfing, downloading apps....2 or 3 real short phone calls and A LOT of texting (a lot). My phone finally shutdown at 1% at 7pm. SO I got a good 9 hours....not bad.

To me there seems to be to many variables based on apps and usage to fairly compare. I believe that some just have bad luck when it comes to batteries. I had good luck with a Canon camera, battery lasted forever. My buddy had the same camera and it maybe lasted half the time.

A coworker just got his Evo (his wife as well) and I got him caught up on Apps, tips etc. HEAVY use yesterday. Unplugged my phone @ 5am. He unplugged his @ 6am. Mine was dead at 7pm, his was 10% @ 7:30pm.

I can burn through a battery in about 6 hours but only if I'm playing a game or watching movies all day like last month when we where in the hospital after my daughter was born. I average 12-14 hours before I plug it in with regular use. Gps is always on, rarely use 4g. Bluetooth several times a day, wifi on at least 1-2hrs a day but never let it roam or search. Screen timeout is 30 sec and I shut the screen off after each use to reduce battery drain.

I never had probs with the Facebook app drain, Froyo seems better but 2.1 was never that bad to me. Some of you are having bad luck, and the rest of the "battery sucks" crowd is doing SOMETHING or using SOMETHING that is draining the battery.

My wife's new Epic is about the same from what I can tell so far, not bad and for what these phones can do, actually pretty impressive.

My last phone, the HTC Touch Pro would die if I did not plug it in every night so I am very pleased with the EVO battery life.

4G is not available so I don't use it and I have the phone set to default to wifi which is what I normally use for data unless on the road.

I talk on the phone 4 or 5 times a day but I am not a 'long talker' so most of my phone calls go something like this "Hey, I am on my way, I'll see you in a few. Ok, bye." Which probably helps since phone calls are the main battery suckers, but I also use the phone for twitter, texting, and viewing a web page here and there throughout the day. I even used the flashlight feature and took a lot of pictures and videos at a concert without a problem.

I have forgotten to plug the phone in over night and still normally have close 50% left on the battery. The best thing is, when I plug it in, it seems to charge to 100% very fast - like 15/30 minutes of charging I am at 100%.

For long road trips, I ordered a car charge on Amazon for 1 cent plus $2.50 shipping so I should be set. I am so used to my last phone always being a phone call away from being dead that this phone is a dream come true.

Maybe it is because of the fresh new battery it has. If I find I have issues down the road I'll order the extra large evo battery, but so far, no need.

I am currently getting great batter life on my Evo with the standard battery by unchecking always-on mobile and having wifi on while im at home and have connection. I've been off the charger for 7 and a half hours my battery is at 77% with moderate use.

I had "always on mobile data" turned off for about a week and got incredible battery life. I was able to go almost wake to sleep on a single charge with my typical use.

I had to turn always on mobile data back on after I experience a case when I was off of wifi and got a Google Voice voicemail notice about 2 hours late. With this setting turned on, I'm only getting about 7-8 hours.

Im running Myn Warm 2.2 with bfs 9, setcpu 2.03 set to conservative only, no profiles. Im at 80% 5 hours off the charger with moderate use. Mobile and wifi on, BT and GPS off. Im happy enough

EDIT: about 12 hours off the charger now, at 52%

EDIT: Coming up on 17 hours, 18%

I'd have to say the most obvious change to battery life was setcpu. Like I said I didnt add any profiles, only set the scaling on the main screen to conservative. The phone still feels snappy.

the only time i have significant battery drain is when i first boot up the phone after a power down cycle and it drops like 10% right off... other then that though i can still go all day on my evo.

Had a nice 17 hour day to day between work at 6am, school til 2pm, and then random stuff til now and I'm at 50%!!! My epic would have never made it til 6pm. I have "always-on mobile" unchecked...toggling wifi and bluetooth when I use it. I've found that the only thing that kills my battery is GPS. I use a twidroyd probably 2 hours solid a day, plus checking some websites, on the phone for an hour, and sending 100 texts/emails.

Fantastic battery life. Probably going to buy a second stock battery for the longer days. No need to go extended really.

Ok ive seen a drastic jump in battery life

I have an htc evo

i have the tips that are suggested here and i routinely got 6-7hrs of battery life '

However after having a wireless n router installed in my home

Ive gotten 14 hrs per day

And i use my phone

i make around 20-25 calls per day

Stream Music for 6-8 hrs a day (and download podcasts via doggcatcher

I send out around 50 texts a day

Im happy as all can be with this improved battery life

And i owe it all to my wireless router

I wished i did it earlier

Just wanted to share
