Nexus 10 Slow WiFi after 5.0 Update

Ever since 5.0 came out, I've noticed my Nexus 10 has a pretty significant increase in "Buffering" from Netflix and Hulu, and loading icons from Clash of Clans to the point where the game becomes unplayable. I didn't have these issues before when using KitKat. I've waited a little while to see if it would fix itself but it hasn't gotten any better. Now when I want to play my game, I have to switch over to my phone and when watching Hulu, I just quit mid episode because it goes from fine to 3 min Buffering, plays 1 second, 3 min Buffering, plays 1 second etc til the end of time. I've not had this Buffering problem previous, aside from the occasional 15 second buffer then all was well. Is anyone else having this problem or can someone help resolve this?

You might want to perform a speed test on both the tablet, and on a wired desktop as a first step.

I've noticed some quirky things also on my N10 after 5.0. KitKat was working perfectly, and I wish now that I didn't do the update until 5.01. Sometimes the wireless just turns itself off, and I have to go back into settings and turn it back on. It is a lot slower than with Kitkat. Screens that snapped into place before have a noticeable lag to them. But most frustrating, like you, is the buffering when watching videos. Mine isn't as bad as you describe, but is definitely there. Watching TV on the TWC (Time Warner Cable) app can get frustrating. The screen suddenly goes black, buffers for as much as 20 seconds, then comes back on where it left off. This can happen 2-3 times in a half-hour show. I never had any of this with Kitkat. So, I'll patiently wait until the 5.01 update, rumored for late December.

My computer, in Mbps, performed 11.99 down/1.08 up. My Nexus 10 performed 0.51 down/0.03 up. These were both wireless connections as well.

A second test right after gave PC 14.83 down/1.10 up and Nexus 10 .32 down/.29 up

I was getting real bad dl speeds the past two days. I was going to reboot my modem and did a test just before I did, and guess what, it was over 50. (I have a 100 connection) I don't really know why it is working all of the sudden.

Wow- that really is bad. I have to assume you have rebooted the N10 already as a test. You might also want to try rebooting the wifi router and also "forgetting" the connection on the N10 and then re-establishing it again to see if that will help. As a last resort, you can try changing the settings on the router to see if there is something the 5.0 N10 doesn't like. For example, changing protocol (AC vs. N vs. G), frequency (2.4Ghz vs 5Ghz), channel, or channel width.

Performing a cache partition wipe on the N10 can't hurt either, although I don't think that would do much in this type of case.

I've wiped both the partition cache and the app cache, restarted the Nexux 10, disconnected and forgot the router information and re-entered it, restarted the actual router and modem, and still nothing has changed. I've also changed the setting to only recognize 2.4Ghz because 5Ghz is turned off on my current router for issues with other devices dropping connection when both are active. My WiFi bar says I have a solid connection the entire time, and barely ever drop below 50% signal strength but it seems that no information is being passed. Even when I have an app running that displays data sent in real time, it's measured in B/s and barely breaks a couple hundred at its peaks. Also when I get to buffering/loading bars in the middle of my activities, the data app says 0B/s for both download and upload, almost as if it stopped trying. If you have any other suggestions I'd be willing to try them cause this is incredibly frustrating. I never had any sort of these issues when I was using KitKat.

Its been about two weeks since my device was upgraded and it has been a horrible experience. Here are just a few of the problems I'm having:

1. No sound. If I'm start it in Safe Mode I get sound, otherwise, the sound no longer in works.
2. Very slow
3. Pages freeze and lock. Websites simply stop working and I constantly have to close and reopen the browser.
4. Apps such as Flipboard, lock and the graphics just disappear in addition to the font changing to hieroglyphics
5. I need to hit the Start button a minimum of 5 times before the unit turns on

These are just the major problems I'm running into. These are others, but I want Google to solve these NOW before working on the others.

Anyone else have these problems?

If Google reads these posts, how about some answers?!

Im having most of the same trouble as you Bmilano, although not the sound issue..
I'll be patient and hope that the .01 patch fixes what minor issues I have.
I much prefer 5.0 even with the few temp glitches....

Having the same issues with WiFi speeds, a lot of buffering and drop offs with connection. I wiped the 10 right after the lollipop update so I guess Google has to figure this out.

I reflashed my Nexus 10 with the 5.01 factory image and made sure to do a factory reset via the stock recovery. I have found the experience to have both positives and negatives compared to 4.4.4. I've found performance to be much smoother and better overall, but that might be because I am using the stock launcher now and was using Nova Prime on 4.4.4. But I too have had an issue with WiFi being slow. We don't have any WiFi issues with any of the other devices in my house and I've never had this sort of issue on this tablet even back when it was running 4.2, 4.3, or 4.4. The thing is, the issue isn't constant. Sometimes it is fine. I cannot figure it out at all. WiFI Analyzer shows a very strong signal and I've been on channel 6 for years. The same app shows only one other AP on the same channel and the signal for that one is very weak.

Hopefully we see a 5.02 that resolves this issue. And hopefully it comes quicker than 4.3 did after 4.2.2. Anyone remember the horrible and constant crashing of the Nexus 10 with 4.2.x?

I have also been having issues with slow Wifi after upgrading my Nexus 10 to Lollipop. I contacted Google support about it, and as my Nexus was still under warranty they agreed to send me a replacement. And guess what?! The replacement Nexus has exactly the same problem! :(

I have taken this up with Google support again, but it clearly shows that the issue is in the latest software and is not hardware related.

Yep, that is often a mistake just accepting a replacement. Google support is very quick to just send replacement devices for no good reason and without adequate troubleshooting. Pretty strange, actually.

My Nexus 10 is pretty much unusable after this update. With 4.4.4, I would get a crash on awake about half the time, which was fixed, but the wifi is now awful.

I can stand 10 feet from my Asus router and it will still take 30-40 seconds to load a simple web page. If I am in a different room, even though it reports full signal, I get nothing. I tried a SpeedTest and was getting sub 1MB/sec speeds. Tried it with my Wife's Ipad from the same location, 80MB/sec.

The weird thing is if I disconnect and reconnect, it works great for 10-20 seconds then drops off a cliff again.

I will never buy another android tablet or Samsung product. After being burned on my last Samsung phone ( Verizon Galaxy Nexus ), and this tablet, I am going iPad for sure with my next tablet. I will still use Android phones because my HTC M8 has been absolutely perfect, but the fact that Google can release this OS on this device with such a glaring problem makes me realize they are either too busy or they simply dont care.

I have factory reset after 5.0.1 and still have the same problems you guys are having. What's more confusing is that my speedtest results are 44.55 Mbps download speed and everything that requires internet still runs slow! Even simple pictures in my Twitter feed take time to load... Has anyone been able to figure this out?2014-12-22 13.12.08.jpg

Wow reading all of these posts makes me not want to update to lollipop and just stick with Kitkat.
