I got the black bumper case from GP. Love that I can put the phone down and not worry about scratching the lens. It is very simple case but I am very upset with the quality of the case. The corners are already worn and the material that the case is covered in is peeling off. I have had the case for less than a week.

Call and have them refund you for the purchase so you can replace it with another one. My first one I received had the same issue and they refunded my purchase so I could purchase another one which didn't have the issue.

I did and I will. I would love to know why some of them are peeling, I wuld hate to get another one and have it happen again. I am thinking about getting the quickcover or the tech21 portfolio case instead. Use my GPE refund to cushion the cost of the wireless charger.

I'm a professional guy. Love the style of the Nexus 5. It's the only other phone aside from the Z10 that looks stylish naked. Definitely a no case kind of guy. I want people to see the Nexus branding on the back.

Then it happened. The old forgetting that I placed my phone on my lap while driving in my truck. I jumped off and the street messed up my phone. The street messed up my phone good. So I am a case guy now.

I bought a case because Im paranoid about damaging my phone.

I got the Google Bumper case but find it too bulky, so I ordered the Ringle slim and am waiting for it to show up.

I'd keep the speakers grilles and other openings away from the sand too.

I'd keep the whole phone in my hotel before heading to the beach.

Not trying to offend anyone but....having a nice phone without a case (unless you never go outside) strikes me as incredibly stupid and short-sighted.

Cyanogenmod makes an ultra thin case in many colors that's sold by Cruzerlite. I bought mine from them in black and couldn't be happier.

I've yet to put a case on mine. I can't come to terms with covering it up. I've been rocking it naked since they first came out without a problem. Just be careful.

Naked is clearly much sexier. I've kept all my previous iPhones naked for many years, my N4 naked for a year, and now my naked N5. I am a very careful guy and have never dropped my phone or even had a scratch on my N4 and N5. Two weeks ago I had just finished playing tennis, was covered in sweat, had a racket under one arm, can of balls under the other, N5 in hand, and was rushing to open a gate. Phone slipped out of sweaty hand and cracked screen on pebbled concrete. It happens

Saying that, my N5 with new screen is still sporting around naked. I'll just write off a new screen every 4 or 5 years.

I don't find it matters what phone you have. It is simply a variable "x". The question is case or no case for x phone? In this equation x really only has two solutions:

1) you are willing to assume the risk of a caseless x phone

2) you are not willing.

Simple as that. You drop it and the phone breaks or screen cracks, that sucks.

If you're referring to the black model then yes, I prefer it as mother LG gave birth to it Looks INCREDIBLE as far as the reviews go. But if you buy the white model then scratches will appear sooner than you think so a case will be needed.

I'm using the official (black) bumper case... Because a friend of mine gave it to me
Anyway, I was already planning to get it from the Play Store.
I think it's a very well made case: I used to keep my previous phones naked, but this Nexus 5 seems more fragile than my Nokia phones and my Desire HD. Moreover, this case isn't particularly thick, and the phone looks good even with the cover on.

I really don't like cases, but I still wanted protection when my phone is in my pocket or thrown in a laptop bag. The Spigen SGP Crumena leather sleeve has been working really well. I've been using the same 2-year old case for the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, and now the Nexus 5.

I love a case just because I like to add extra colour to my phone. and I'm OCD and always changing it up. Maybe its a girl thing - I dunno? But I don't like the bulky cases. I don't mind the wallet type because the one I have (which is purple) utilizes the sleep wake sensor where I never have to press the power button every time I open it. I love that!. I also have 3 other colored gel cases (bumper cases??) in solid purple, see through hot pink and see through turquoise from Cruzerlite (which I LOVE because it has the cute little android guys on the back ) I am case addicted!
I also used a screen protector on my old galaxy ace2 phone, but so far on My nexus 5 I haven't felt the need to put one on it. So far no scratches at least!
