Nexus 6p battery

Re: nexus 6p battery

4.5 hours SOT and 24% battery remaining. Tbh, I'm not sure whether that's good or not. Certainly won't be a problem on weekdays.

Re: nexus 6p battery

I use my phone as a range finder for golf with the Skydriod App. With my N4 I barely made a round of golf on a full charge. 4 to 4:30 hrs depending on the pace of play. Yesterday I played my 1st round of golf with my new N6P. 4:15 hrs. I only used 25% of battery. I am happy. I am use to always throwing my N4 on the charger whenever I had a chance. Combined with that habit and the fast charge, battery life will never be an issue for myself with the N6P.

Re: nexus 6p battery

I'm going to repeat what I posted in another thread.

I just finished my first full day with the phone, and I am thrilled with the battery life, considering the circumstances.

With a day of what constitutes very heavy usage to me (downloading apps and configuring them, streaming music and videos, and just generally playing around much more than I normally would) I got 13 1/2 hours and 5 hours 20 minutes SOT before I got down to 15%. And it wasn't until later that I realized I've had location services on all day (something I've had to get in the habit of turning off unless I'm using it for fear of bleeding my battery dry in my G2). I was also extremely impressed with the virtual flat-lined battery drain due to Doze on the 1 occasion when I set it down for an hour. I have no doubt that I'll be able to easily get through a normal day (at least) without having to recharge - again, something that I haven't been able to do on my G2 since the Lollipop Apocalypse.

And I had originally intended to let it go until it shut down just to see how long it would go, but I connected it to my computer to sync my music via DoubleTwist, which ended up slow charging it a bit; enough to get me another 3 hours of pretty consistent use and playing before it got down below 20%. I'm very happy with the results today, but looking forward to seeing how it performs on a "normal day".

Re: nexus 6p battery

I seem to have found my problem with the phone not going into sleep mode, it seems to be Gasbuddy that was keeping the phone awake. I believe it is a problem Gasbuddy has with Marshmallow, and may impact Bluetooth as well.
Thanks. I'm going to try this. Last night input my phone down with 42% battery left. I force closed everything because I felt like my battery wasn't lasting like everyone else. I had my WiFi set to sleep when not plugged in(should I have it set to do that?). When I woke up, my battery was dead. I'm going to uninstall Gasbuddy and see if things change. uploadfromtaptalk1446992420334.jpg

Re: nexus 6p battery

I feel like my battery life is awful at the moment - 3 and a half hours of SOT, down to 25%. How long have you all had your phones for? I presume the battery life on this thing will get better eventually...

Yes, that Awake time really kills your phone. This is from my Nexus 5 running Marshmallow, which had the same issues with the Gas Buddy app -- it was always Awake. After fixing it, I charged the phone about 10 pm last night:

My 6P shows similar results but I rebooted it this morning, for an unrelated issue, so the battery only shows the stats since the restart.

Re: nexus 6p battery

My battery life 2 to 3 times better then my N5 which I really appreciate. My work days are long and with N5 I would almost have no use for my phone after because only have 5% battery life. After work would the pre time get catch up socially and on media but with N5 I would have to wait until got phone to charger. I would seriously have the dilemma of sitting in my car at work to charge my phone so I have enough juice to either go out or go on short errand. After work is my time to unwind last thing want to do is be held up by my phone. With 6P with larger battery and more battery efficient hardware I can confidential use my phone throughout my work day and have plenty life phone to go about my business after work.

Yesterday was normal long 12+ work day and I had 77% battery life left to play with after work with SOT of a hour. My Nexus 5 would be at 15% at most so again a breath of fresh air with the N6P. I left phone off the charger as well when I went to bed. Woke at 10 am today use phone until die at 12 noon. So my phone lasted my 30 hours with close to 5 SOT.

I think I could got more life out of my phone if turned on battery saving mode. I also don't think my phone went into doze when I went to bed at 1am.

Location on max
Screen on 50%
Adapted display off
WiFi on for half the time.
Battery Saving Mode OFF
SRBG mode on.

I don't think my phone went into doze when I set it down to go to bed. Something gradually drain my battery when I went to sleep last night. Which is odd right?
From the screen shots is you could doze was more active when I went to work but was not active when went to sleep. I have more flat battery spots when phone was in my pocket at work than the gradual slope when phone was resting as I slept for 9 hours. I wonder if ambient display and constant AC notifications where killing my battery when I was sleeping?

Re: nexus 6p battery

Right now I have 41% - approx. 18 hrs left
Time on - 3h 39m 37s

Re: nexus 6p battery

Chrome is eating up about 5% every 15 min. It's showing as a higher usage than my screen. Does that sound right? I'm kind of disappointed in battery life right now. Wandering if the Turbo 2 would be better.

The Turbo 2 has really good battery life. Not quite as good as the first Turbo, but still really good compared to almost any other phone.

Re: nexus 6p battery

Screen on time is really not a good gauge for battery life. Streaming Spotify while playing a resource intensive game while also downloading a podcast is not going to give you the same battery life as simply browsing Facebook (and nothing else) will. Or you could take the phone off the charger at 100% and stream music for 10 hours, never turning on the screen, and then use it for 5 minutes and the phone dies with 5 minutes of screen on time.

People use their phones differently. If you can do everything you need to and make it through the day without panicking about the battery dying, I'd say the battery life is fine.

Re: nexus 6p battery

i expected the battery to be great but im not noticing anything special. just to be on the safe side have just factory reset the phone, charged it to full and installed all my apps its 1100pm now, lets see how long it lasts.

Re: nexus 6p battery

I'm good with my battery life. This is the second full day I've had the phone. I haven't felt charger anxiety once. I would have had to charge my s3 many times by now...

Re: nexus 6p battery

Also just found the setting to kill wifi when sleeping. That should help significantly...

Re: nexus 6p battery

Loving Doze: left it unplugged over night (with just wifi on) and only lost 2%. My old phone would have been dead.

Re: nexus 6p battery

do tell us how
Settings - > Wi-Fi - > Settings (3 dots in upper right) - > Advanced - > Keep wi-fi on during sleep

If you have apps that use data in the background (and who doesn't), the setting for best battery life will depend on the amount of data you pull, how strong your WiFi signal is, and how strong your mobile data signal is. In general:

More data/strong wifi/weak mobile = "always"

Less data/weak wifi/strong mobile = "never" or "only when plugged-in"

YMMV

Re: nexus 6p battery

I just put it on the charger about 20 minutes/day. I have never had less than 80% left - happy!

good explanation, I think my wifi and data signals both are good and the speeds are fine as well. i am dropping about 9 to 10 percent battery overnight dont know if that is good or not, is it possible to check which apps are using the data or wifi overnight to sync? i know the mail apps and things like whatsapp would do it.

funnily enough I used chrome for 28 mins and it has used more battery than my screen which i used for an hour 118 for chrome vs 109 for the screen.

Re: nexus 6p battery

I am seeing the Mobile radio active thing come up on a few apps. A couple of hours after taking the device out of charging I saw Foursquare, Google Play, Cell standby etc at 1-3% of battery consumption (each). I forced closed the ones I could so lets see if that settles it. Besides that, I have no problem lasting an entire day without a charge and a quick 20-25 minute charge both ways from my daily commute pretty much lets me not plug in at night.
