Nexus 6p battery

Re: nexus 6p battery

Well yesterday was amazing, took it off charge at 7.30am, at 11.20pm I had 12% battery left and 6 hours 37 minutes of screen time. This was amazing!

Re: nexus 6p battery

I tested how much battery I lose just leaving it on my nightstand while I sleep once it is at 100%. For nine hours, I lost a total of 2% battery.

Re: nexus 6p battery

My first redemption of my $50 store credit. 😀

It's got a "night mode" w/ability to turn off various settings:

Not sure, but I think the free version has this, too.

Edit: So today, I got
14.5 hours of use, 12% left
5 hours SOT
Streamed music over wifi almost entire time

Battery Life Thread

How's everyone doing on the battery life front?

With my screen brightness in the middle, normal usage - mainly e-mail and internet browsing, I'd say overall the battery life is below average for me. I had a Oneplus One right before this that actually did a much better job. Not complaining, just making note of the battery life. For the screen, it is about where I expected it to be.

Re: Battery Life Thread

Battery life is outstanding for me. Full charge at 100% at midnight then it was 98% at 6am when I woke up...now it is at 85% at 12.19p, that is with light usage since I am at work but that is still very impressive IMO

I agree that battery life on standby/screen off is very good - for me, with actual moderate usage with screen on, apps running, etc. - doesn't seem that great

Re: nexus 6p battery

Yes, that Awake time really kills your phone. This is from my Nexus 5 running Marshmallow, which had the same issues with the Gas Buddy app -- it was always Awake. After fixing it, I charged the phone about 10 pm last night:

My 6P shows similar results but I rebooted it this morning, for an unrelated issue, so the battery only shows the stats since the restart.

i have the gas buddy app, it's not keeping the phone awake all the time for me. the screen drain is really bad for me, but this is only the second day I've had it. when I got it last night, charged it all the way up and drained it all the way down. then charged it all the way over night. will be on a charger more regularly after today/not used as much

Re: nexus 6p battery

Doze is amazing. Went from 1AM last night to 11AM this morning (10 hours), with me picking it up to check it a couple times in between, and the phone only lost 4%. It worked wonders on my previous Nexus 5 as well, but it's even better with that 6P. This is my first phone with an enormous battery and I didn't know what I was missing before haha.

It seems it may be a combination of GasBuddy and Bluetooth being on. Additionally, if GasBuddy isn't started (or was force stopped) it shouldn't be using battery.

Not sure my phone is going into Doze mode or not. It lost 10% of battery life over night and another 10% when I left it at home all day. I look at the battery screen and I'm not seeing that straight line going across on the battery usage view. I had been hearing that people were only losing 2-3% overnight, not 10%.

For location, I use Power Saving mode. I still get location based stuff needed by apps like Instagram, Facebook, and weather apps. I only use high accuracy when I need to do navigation, which is rare.

quick update from my first day's use:

exactly 3hrs of screen on time used 407mAh @ ~50% screen brightness. First full day of owning the phone. Received yesterday night, charged up and drained, and charged. Chrome came in at a surprising 2nd, 8% compared to the Screen's 12%. Gmail 3rd at 6%, Google Services at 5%, and Android OS at 5%.

Tonight when I get home, I'll charge it up/factory reset and go from there. I don't wanna get in the habit of draining my phone all the way down every day - can't be good for the battery - so I'll bring a charger to work.

So I haven't been seeing the type of great battery life others in here, and the majority of major reviewers are.

I have my screen brightness on auto, I'm on wifi most of every day, and have location in battery saving.

With that, I'm getting about 16 hours to empty with 2.5 hours scree on time. And with that, the screen is always by far the biggest drain (according to Gsam)

Now, I know that isn't objectively bad, but I keep hearing people easily making it through the day with 3-4 hours scree on and there is no way I could even approach that as is. I don't even do anything most would consider processor intensive; I don't play games or watch much video...

Any thoughts?

(note, while typing just this message out on my phone at a decently fast clip, my battery went from 28% to 23%...)

Battery has been fine for me. Fourteen hours up time, 3hrs SOT, I streamed an hour of music, and I'm at 50%. I use manual screen brightness and cell reception is pretty good.

I'm happy with battery life as well. Coming from the G4, I am pleased with the battery life! Screen varied 50% to 100% throughout the dayScreenshot_20151109-194508.jpgScreenshot_20151109-194500.jpg

i think it's too misleading to include screen on time without mentioning where you set your screen brightness..

so far it seems like the battery life for actual use is pretty average. keep in mind eventually all the flagships will get doze with 6.0, and they will all share the benefits of the improved screen off battery life - only thing we'll all have in common is screen on time

My first full regular work day, without extra fiddling and playing on the phone, and I'm very pleased.

The phone was unplugged from about 6:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m., included using Waze for both my commutes, as well as being connected to my car and an external speaker via bluetooth during the commutes. Work Exchange email is push (which I haven't done in years). My screen brightness is set at 50%.

I a very happy with these results. With my G2, I would have it plugged into the car charger during both commutes and I would still be in the red zone on the battery by 10:00 p.m.

Indeed, until other phones have marshmallow and doze you're comparing apples and oranges, but that's the nexus advantage.
