Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues (With Car)

I was having all kinds of Bluetooth issues with my Nexus 6p and Toyota 2015 Prius V. Podcast would constantly disconnect from Bluetooth. GPS sound would stutter. Phone calls were hit or miss whether Bluetooth was still connected.

I was on 6.0.1. I recently received Google's January security update. Since receiving that update, I no longer have any Bluetooth issues. Everything works as it should.

I don't know if Google fixed something with this January security update, but I am happy again.

The January security update did not fix the problems with my Nexus 6P and 2015 BMW. If anything they're worse.

I don't know what happened, it's all good and can finally say 6P is the best android to date. LOL

Seriously, I was getting so pissed off that I thought about selling my 6P. There were times I had to pull over because I couldn't get it to pair/work.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe and it works perfectly with my 6s Plus. But I've grown so bored with iOS and don't think it's worth the extra money over the 6P - so I ordered a 6P. But I'm worried about this Bluetooth thing. This is very important to me and I've had no issues with iPhone, so I'm definitely worried about it coming from the 6P. Have you contacted Google on this?

Yeah, earlier in this thread there is a link to the Google page where Android OS issues can be reported. There were over 450 people who said they had this issue with various cars. Google is aware of it but it is not fixed.

I figured there had to be something making Google aware. I hope it's something that can get fixed in the long run. I'm tired of using iOS. I like it well enough, but not with Android phones available to me. iOS just tends to lose its luster with me after a little while. I really feel like it is very unintuitive.

I'm not convinced it is technically a Google issue. It is odd to me that it seems to be hit or miss, some people have problems with the systems in their car, but others have no issues with the same system. You can see that in recent posts; some have reported they have no issues with the Ford MyFordTouch/Sync system, others can't get the BT to work. Because of this, I have to wonder if it might be an app or even just an option that some people have set on their phone. Google does appear to be working on it, in fact some claim that the January update fixed their problem.

I had a ton of issues with the blue tooth in my Chevy Cruze until the last update. (The typical skipping or not connecting.) Now they're gone for the most part. The only odd thing that has happened was that the audio was playing out of the phone while connected to my car. A quick switch off/on of blue tooth and it worked fine. Hopefully someone can narrow down possible culprits to help those of you still dealing with it.

When my Moto G2015 received Marshmallow, I found that if a Bluetooth adapter was missing the HSP spec, phone calls would fail. I was able to test this on 3-4 Bluetooth devices that supported HSP and 1 device that did not. As such, I replaced my car Bluetooth adapter with one supporting the HSP spec.

My only issue with a skoda octavia is that when i am streaming music from spotify or google music to my radio, if i make or receive a phone call, when the phone call is terminated the music has stopped and i must press play on the phone to start again.
This do not happen with my wifes phone that is not a nexus.

I posted on the Android Support website about my Bluetooth issues. And this morning I received an email from android@googlecode.com that said "the development team has fixed the issue that you have reported and will be available in a future update"

2012 Mazda 3 i

Calls are sometimes loud, sometime soft. I have Bluetooth Connect and Play app and sometimes when I unlock the phone, the song automatically pauses. Could be a result of the app. Twice in the couple months I've had the phone it just stopped working in the middle of a song for no reason.

Bluetooth is probably my only gripe w/ this phone. Definitely not strong in that aspect.

EDIT: In regards to my app I use to automatically lauch Google play, would Tasker be a better option or is there another app to use? I have Tasker and it would be easy to create this profile but wanted options.

This is your only post in this thread:

2016 Tacoma with no issues. Phone, music and text messages all come through without hitches.

Unless I missed something, it looks like you're not having issues.

Could you clarify?

I thought I had posted my other issues here as well, my bad. It connects with my truck fine. But all other Bluetooth devices all essentially useless (headphones, speakers, watches, etc).

My problem with that statement from them is this line: "available in a future update." That could mean the February Security patch. That could mean 6.0.2. That could mean 6.1.0. Who knows? It might still be months away before they push out that fix. It is promising that they figured it out, but it's still a pretty vague statement on when the fix is coming.

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

2012 Porsche Cayenne with latest upgraded version of PCM. 6P will not stay connected via Bluetooth (when I can get it to connect at all). When I get it to work and place a call, I frequently (meaning almost every time) lose the Bluetooth connection. At first, I thought it was a problem with my particular 6P, so sent it back for a replacement. Same issues with the replacement, I'm afraid, and no difference that I can tell with 6.0.1. Really frustrating.

Oh for sure, especially when the email was so short. Hopefully it's gonna be sooner rather than later, but I figured I'd pass along the word that I received.

Omit what I posted it acted up again. :(

Disconnected, couldn't pair until I shut off my Murano and couldn't be heard where I had to call back.

This is getting ridiculous.
