Note 5 verizon wifi causing high standby battery usage

I have galaxy note 5 from verizon. Whenever I am connected to a wifi by battery drains from standby usage. I did research and it seems like a wifi bug because my 4g is still on even when I am connected to wifi. When I am not connected to wifi it is fine but I can't afford to not use wifi.

I tried to clear cache, tried a different wifi, package disabler, altering advanced call feature but nothing worked.

Anyone know if there's a fix for this?

Welcome to Android Central! Is it Cell Standby that's showing up in the battery stats?

Is the cell signal strong when this happens, or is it pretty weak?

I'm on Verizon, and I have NO idea why this worked, but switching data from global to LTE/CDMA only seems to have fixed my cell standby draining while on WiFi.

I have to disable wifi or I have issues. Also, it seems that the Note 5 doesn't really work with CDMA very well (if at all) and now you need voice over LTE to have internet while on a phone. I feel like the phone is always trying for LTE networks now vs with other phones it would settle on 3g networks when LTE was not around.
