Note 5 vs Note 4

The software Kies to get the pictures off of your phone and into your Mac is terrible. It DOESN'T work half of the time. I have no idea who made this terrible piece of software. 90% of your time it won't recognize your phone so all your pictures are stuck inside the phone. You need to remove the MicroSD card and plug it into the computer manually.

If Samsung goes Note 5 without MicroSD card support, I will not buy their product anymore. Scary to think I won't be able to get access to my pictures without finding some way to wi-fi export them for Note 5 and newer devices.

I have a ton of things disabled as well but that lag is still present. Funny thing is on my note 3 the lag isn't as noticeable especially when you go from the camera to the gallery.

Nonetheless, the N4 is a great device. From an ergonomical perspective the Note5 looks like an improvement.
Have you adjusted your animations in Developer Options?

For me, it made a noticeable difference.

Got my N4 last Nov. 14, so I'll wait for the N6....N5, not that big of a change and not a fan of the glass

The glass doesn't bother me at all. My phones all live in cases. I'm not going to totally rule out the Note 5 since its not been formally announced and I've not seen one in person. That said, the rumors aren't making me happy.

I prefer note 5 of course ...it is upgrade than note 4 in many things ... And it looks fantastic

I use iDrive cloud storage for my pics & videos. $4.99/yr unlimited. Works pretty well too!

Only reason am upgrading is to get the s6 edge plus. Otherwise Wait till the Note 5 is available and get a Note 4. There should be a few $ a month price drop.

The catch is users are constrained to using where there is WiFi coverage, or using their data cap to access their own content. The cloud is nowhere as practical as local storage, but better than nothing.

Another negative is WiFi on public networks is not exactly as secure and less secure against data theft than carrier data.

As far as SD card storage goes, its nice to have when I need it but there are still USB OTG adapters for then. I wonder how many Note 4/3/2 users access content on their SD cards so often that an OTG adapter can't fit the bill. I have my music on my SD card but that's because there's just no reason not to. On my 32GB Nexus 5 I have the music on the phone itself. My point is that we'll live. If I choose to consider the Note 5 because it has some attribute that makes it desirable I'll learn to live with what it is. I may not like it and choose to stick with the Note 4. Samsung may not sell a lot of Note 5s this year but even if the Note 6 has the Note 5's limitations we'll have to learn to live with it or switch to something else. I think enough people will learn to live with the Note 5 that it will not cause Samsung too much heartache if some of us opt out. I'm not going to quit the Note series forever because of the loss of a removable battery and SD card but I may skip the Note 5 because of it as I don't need an upgrade. Come 2016 I'd probably get the Note 6 even if its just a "Note 5s" because I'll want a new phone and I like the S Pen.

I'm not sure where you're coming from, bro.

I just said that my phone didn't slow down at all while using an SD card.

Maybe it's because it's one of these, or that I never run apps off an SD card. (My phone is an LG G4)

I still think that you must install apps to the phone's internal storage for the best performance, but an SD card bottlenecking a phone is beyond belief to me, unless it's a bad/faulty card or you had apps on it. It should only slow down during initial boot, when the phone is scanning both the internal storage and SD card for media.

And I noticed that in 2 of the threads, the SD card was a Samsung EVO SD card. I've never used them, and I think they're fine, but my friends had one and they kept corrupting the data inside.

I don't know how things will go in this forum. I noticed in the S4 and S5 forums as rumors started to spread about the S6 not having removable batteries and SD cards the forums started to get a lot of comments from people who were not forum regulars that started to tell everyone why we should not use SD cards. Samsung is known in international markets for using viral marketing to promote their products. I can only guess they have started to use VM in North America. Hope it does not get too bad on this site. One of my photography forums I liked to frequent has been pretty much ruined by one company's VM push.

If all goes to form and it did earlier this year. Every time someone comments on the positive usage of SD cards. Several people many new to Samsung forums will start posting SD card hate.

The only reason Samsung is removing SD card support is to increase the average selling price of their phones. Even if the slot is available on a phone, the user is not forced to use an SD Slot.

I've never upgraded from 1 phone to the very next.....I prefer to skip a generation. Since I just got my Note 4 in May, I'll be sticking with it at least until the Note 6 comes out...maybe even the 7.

I'm the same way. I like to skip a generation. Besides, skipping a generation, no matter the phone brand, seems to be an actual upgrade than just getting the following generation you currently have.

I am in the process of making my Note 4 self aware.

True. Very true.

I Love my Note 4 and previous Note 2, and am Totally Addicted to the S Pen ! In the Note 4 I have learned to get a long without an SD card as I had major indexing problems with an old card and just never bought a new one, because I have been ok without it for now, but still Don't want that Feature/option to be removed......as far as the Removable Battery..... That would be a Huge NO NO to me to take it away. It's not that I often switch out the battery, but so many things happen to our phones that doing a Battery pull FIXES! It also keeps longevity of using that phone. Just like when I snapped a brand new Battery into my Note 2 when it was acting up and it totally revived an older phone that would have become totally useless without that option!!! So I will keep my Note 4 if they remove SD slot and embed the battery! I will also upgrade my Husbands current Note 2 to a Note 4 for him and skip 5!

Tyranny! Give me sd, or give me Moto X Pure! I will buy a 64gb Moto X out of principle and freedom of choice :) Support companies that offer a good device with sd. Freeeeeeeduuuummm!

The lack of a removable battery is a deal killer for me. When I go to Disney World or New York City etc., I carry around 2 extra batteries for my Note 4. Even if the Note 5 gets good battery life out of the box, true to form, when Android updates come out, battery life will be half - or a some fraction of its original. Charging is not always an option on the go. Will have to consider other manufacturers for the first time in a while.

The galaxy note 5 is more functional and samsung has been tasting the success of note series.so i think the note 5 is the best

Hello, I don`t understand why not having a SD card and a removable battery are such big problems for most of people who read the rumors about Samsung Galaxy Note 5. It looks like a good phone with a bigger screen, better battery (4100 mAh), higher resolution(2560 x 1440) , more megapixels(16MP), more RAM memory (4GB), more internal storage (128GB), BSI sensor, continuous autofocus when recording etc. You should just check it and compare it to other phones and you will see its value.

Im sure it will be a good phone but lets just say I bought a Note 5 and decided I loved it so much I decided to use the note 5 forever, well guess what batteries degrade over time and eventually the note 5 will probably become useless. As for the Note 4 just buy a new battery!
