[Odin-EC05] Froyo EC05 Prerooted/CWM v2.5.1.0 RFS (Odexed)

You backup should be in a folder on your sdcard called "clockworkmod>backup". Otherwise you would have had to manually go into that folder with a file explorer and physically delete the backup.

yeah...you would have thought so. but apparently it didn't backup my system like it said it did. not too happy with that...at all.

i guess that's one of the hazards of manually updating though.

Well the Odin package, and OneClickRoot's do not do anything "erasing/formatting" speaking to your sdcard. So at best guess something went wrong with a backup you made in CWM which is the first time I've personally heard of a failed backup, that just disappeared.

I have heard of corrupted backups but that is usually do to a bad sdcard or a sdcard with errors that needs to be reformatted and your information restored to the sdcard.

I'm guessing something went wrong with the backup. It will teach me to make sure I actually check to make sure the backup worked before trying something new. Lesson learned!

Between me, you and the rest of cyberspace I'm trying... Working on something over here.... No promises yet.

Hey, thanks so much for all of your effort. The odexed EC05 is a huge deal since it gives people who are struck on the official EB13 a path to get back on Sprint's future upgrade path without having to delete anything.

For the fact that Sprint has penalized me for officially upgrading to EB13 (still no official EB13 to EC05), I was forced to use unofficial means to fix it myself.

Now that Sprint had forced me to do this, I've decided to take the plunge and use community roms. EXT4 has made my phone so much more responsive, and my quadrant scores are now brag worthy.

Thanks a million for everything

This method only works on phones that's already rooted correct? Just to want to be sure.

Now I finally got it to process after disabling anti virus and downloading the driver for Samsung. My phone screen is white and KERNEL shows up on the top box but it's been there for 10 minutes now. Am I doing something wrong?

Go ahead and pull the cord.

Then reset Odin

Pull the battery out of your device and leave it out. Then put your device into download mode without the battery. Run the entire Odin package again without the battery in the device.

It's still failing for me. When I reset it and re-do the process, my phone screen turns to light green. Everything is all connected.

I thought I bricked my phone attemting this, because the phone/yield/computer kept showing up and it wouldn't power up for me. I finally learned that I can try it with the battery out, and that allowed the update to be applied.

Now I get to reload this whole thing again...

Okay. First reboot your computer and restart Odin so everything is reset.

Make sure all anti virus/spyware is off.

Use a different port/usb cable if you have one... Ports on back of computer/laptop are usually the best. If you have an option of using a computer over a laptop, that is better because the power source from the computer is usually more consistent and stronger than the laptop. If you must use a laptop then make sure it has its power cord attached and not just running on battery for best power.

Pull your battery and power up the device and attempt the Odin process again. Make sure only Auto Reboot is checked.

Paul...you THE man! Thanks, everything is up and running now!

Awesome. Worked on the second try after I instinctively popped the battery after the first failed try. Thanks!

Great compilation of information Paul. Thank you very much for your work.

With the EC05, I did a Full Wipe and reflash and my Wi-Fi stopped working (constant hang on retrieving IP address). I re-flashed, and the problem went away, oddly enough. So if anyone else is having a problem with Wi-Fi after updating, try doing it again

cheers,

"4) Extract the 'EC05x DXC.tar.rar' file to a folder on your hard drive to get the neccessary 'EC05x_DXC.tar.md5' file located inside."

_______
I followed the link provided to download the file, but there is nothing to extract, it's just a single RAR file from what I can tell. Did I do something wrong?

I'm fairly new to all this and trying to get the EC05 update on my phone. I currently have the DK28 and am looking to this thread for direction on how to update since other threads I saw said they were specifically for updating from Eclair or EB13. Can I just use the EC05x DXC.tar.rar file in Odin? Or do I specifically need the EC05x_DXC.tar.md5 file? Just want to clarify or find out how to get it before proceeding with the update. Thanks!

Open the " EC05x DXC.tar.rar " with WinRaR or 7zip and you will see the "EC05x_DXC.tar.md5" inside. That is the file you need to place in the PDA slot in Odin.
