[Odin] Froyo leaked packaged custom ROMs w/root and clockwork **UPDATED**3/25

Did you use the .tar file with Odin in the OP or the .zip for cwm from the other thread? If you used the .tar, try redownloading the file again. Maybe something got corrupt. If you flashed the .zip, make sure you wipe cache and dalvik cache. May need to wipe data also.

the .tar.... sigh ok thx ill see...

cl36, the reason you have to reinstall everything is because you are doing a data wipe and flashing back to DL09. Once you are on EB01 and going from one version of EB01 to another there is no need to wipe and flash back to DL09. DroidXcon was having everyone flash back to DL09 for the first time they flash to EB01 so they were starting out with a fresh slate. Once you are on EB01 there is absolutely no need to flash back to DL09 unless you are having major problems and need to start over from a fresh slate, and even then DXC usually has people flash back to DI01 to get a deeper wipe. Adrynalyne himself said unless you get force close issues or any other buggy problems there shouldn't even be a need to wipe cache/dalvik cache when switching from one version of EB01 to another. He is now recommending a wipe of cache/Dalvik for superclean 2.5 and 2.6 because they have EB16 merged in which is actually a build for the US Cellular Mezmerize. I have flashed every superclean that has come out and have not needed to wipe or flash back to DL09 at all from 2.0 to 2.4. I just wiped cache and dalvik before flashing straight to 2.6 based on Adrynalyne's advice. Hope this clears up some questions for people.
Landshark,

So even though I have EB01, I should still clear cache and dalvik? - i don't fully understand clockworkmod to do this right - is there a place to read about cwm setup and usage?

+1 on this. Coming from DL09 to any of the EB01 builds you will need to wipe data/cache/dalvik cache. That's why DroidXcon put this warning in big, red, bold print in the first post of this thread:
[NO DATA WIPE MAY CAUSE FC IF COMING FROM ECLAIR] Super Clean version 2.4 - EB01 Froyo leak root+Froyo ClockworkmodTHIS VERSION DOES NOT WIPE DATA OR CACHE (TESTED by Standupdad Please thank him)

hi guys i was wondering if someone can help me with this ? i flashed sc 2.5 with odin and when i go into clockwork this is what i get

E:Missing bitmap progress_empty
(Code -1)
E:Missing bitmap progress_fill
(Code -1)
CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery v2.5.1.x

is it because i did something wrong ? and how can i fix it ? thanks

imo its good practice to wipe regardless....any time you flash something new..i could be wrong but i have not had a brick or problems yet....

How do I wipe cache and dalvik cache? Sorry for being a bother.

You wipe cache and dalvik cache in red clockworkmod recovery. Go into recovery by either holding down the power button and choosing recovery from that menu, or by holding down the volume down, volume up, and power buttons until you see samsung flash for the second time, then let go of all three buttons. You should be in stock blue recovery, hit the volume down button once to highlight apply sdcard:update.zip and hit the home soft key. This will take you to red cwm, scroll with volume button to wipe cache partition but now in red you use the power button instead of the home soft key. When that is done scroll to advanced, hit the power button, scroll to wipe dalvik cache and hit the power button. When that is done, hit the menu soft key so you are back at the main red cwm menu again where reboot system now will be highlighted at the top of the menu, hit the power button and wait for the phone to reboot.

The error code is normal. There should be an updated recovery that gets rid of that [RECOVERY] Updated ClockworkMod for ALL ROMs - xda-developers

See my post #1509 for an explanation of how to wipe cache and dalvik. Normally going from one build of EB01 to another you don't need to wipe at all. But Adrynalyne is THE expert and because superclean 2.5 and 2.6 have parts of EB16 which is actually a build for the Mezmerize, he is recommending at least wiping dalvik cache. You can read about cwm here:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...ls-trade-troubleshooting-returning-stock.html
DroidXcon does a good job of explaining how to use cwm there. After you read it you can post questions and I or someone else can clear anything up.

Yes PJnc284, this new red clockwork mod gets rid of the bitmap error messages. Unfortunately for those of us on nonvoodoo, the new clockwork will not stick on our phones if you flash a new rom until we get some custom kernels. I wrote up a how to on how to permanently get our phones to go directly to the new red cwm and not have to bother with stock blue recovery and update.zip. The method will work once the devs get their hands on the source code for Froyo and put out some custom kernels. Until then those of us on nonvoodoo will have to keep update.zip on our sd cards and just ignore the error messages in red cwm, they are harmless.

When I hit the home soft key at apply sdcard;update.zip I ended up getting an error.

sounds like you don't have the update .zip from the OP on your sd card. You need to download it on your computer and transfer it to your sd card.

Did it just take you to green or leave you in blue?

Sound like both of you have an old update.zip or it is not in the right place. Plug your phone into your pc with usb debugging enabled. Pull down the notification bar, click usb connected, click the gray bar on the screen that appears. You should have an auto play window pop up on your pc. Choose "open folder to view files" The firs directory that opens up is the root of your sd card and where the update.zip file should be. If there is an update file in that directory, delete it and download and replace it with this one MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service. If the update file is not in that first directory, download the new one there and search the other folders and delete any update.zip files in the other folders. I made that mistake when I first rooted my phone. I put the update.zip file in a folder labeled sd card instead of in that first directory.
