[Odin] Froyo leaked packaged custom ROMs w/root and clockwork **UPDATED**3/25

When you plug your phone into your pc with usb debugging enabled, pull down the notification bar, click usb connected, then hit the gray bar under the green droid on the screen that appears, an auto play window will pop up on your computer, click "open folder to view files", the directory that pops up is the root of your sd card. This is where the update.zip file should be. Look for it there, everything should be listed alphabetically. If it is not there you will need to find where it is and delete it from that location, then save a new copy to that first directory.

When you find those files you got from DroidXcon, make sure you saved a copy of them to your pc, then you will pick up the instructions from the first post at step 3.

I found the file in post#1277 on page 128. Bummed I can't work on this from work....grrrrrr. I have a feeling the root of my problem is the unzip file to the sdcard. Thanks a Mill for the instructions. I'll let you know how it goes after I get back home.

Read my previous post. You are having problems unzipping or extracting files. The update.zip has no effect on that. Update.zip is a key to get you into red clockworkmod recovery, and you aren't at that point yet. DO NOT use the file in post #1277. You need to use the already unzipped files DroidXcon sent you in a pm. You don't need to do anything to those files, no unzipping, no extracting. Just start the instructions from #4. I said #3 in my last post, but you already have ODIN downloaded so you don't need to do step #3. If you no longer have the unzipped files DroidXcon sent you I can send you the files.

EDIT - My bad Dave, I got confused with all the posts going back and forth between you and DroidXcon. Yes, that is the correct file in post #1277 that you need to download to your computer. After you download it to your computer simply start back up in the process at step #4. Sorry.

You're welcome. Unfortunately by the time you get home to start on this I will be at the Chicago Blackhawks - Phoenix Coyotes game. I'm sure by then DXC will be awake. But it should be a simple process from here. Download the file from post #1277 to the downloads folder of your pc, open the ODIN file on your pc. Power off your phone, pull the battery out, plug usb cord into usb ports in the back of your pc, hold down the volume button and plug phone into usb cord. Keep holding the volume down button until you see the first box in ODIN turn yellow, then let go of the volume down button. Click the PDA button, navigate to the md5 file in the download folder and double click on it. Click the start button and wait for it to finish installing. When the box that was yellow and the large box above it turn green the install was successful. Close ODIN, unplug your phone from the usb cord, put the battery in your phone and power up. Done.

thank you landshark! i updated it no problem, you made it quite simple for me. what is the difference between 2.6 and 2.5?

Yes, this is the method you will use from now on to flash new ROMs, themes, add-ons, etc. Download the zip file to your sd card. Boot into recovery one of two ways. The easy way is hold down the volume button and choose recovery from that menu. The other way is to hold down the volume up, volume down, and power buttons until you see the samsung logo flash for a second time, then let go of all three buttons. Either way should put you into blue stock recovery or directly into red clockworkmod recovery (cwm.) If you booted to blue, hit the volume down button once so apply sdcard:update.zip is highlighted and hit the home soft key. This will take you into red cwm. Scroll to install zip from sd card with the volume button, but instead of the home soft key, in red cwm you use the power button to choose things so hit it. This will take you to the root of the sd card. If you put the zip file there you will see it. If not you will need to use the volume buttons and power button to navigate to whatever folder you put the zip file into. Once you have found the zip file, use the volume buttons to scroll to and highlight it, then hit the power button. You will go to a confirmation page, just scroll to the only yes in the menu and hit the power button. Once the installation is complete hit the menu soft key (lower left of the phone) until you are back at the main red cwm menu where reboot system now will be highlighted at the top of the menu. Hit the power button and wait for the phone to reboot. Done. Easy peasy, winner winner chicken dinner.

Worked like a charm for me to upgrade to the 2.6 rom. Do I need anything extra to flash a theme or is it the exact same procedure?...looking to add SuperDark.

You're welcome. Read the first post in Adrynalyne's thread. He outlines all the changes he made between the different versions.

Just installed Super Clean version 2.6 smoothly but during my first use of the browser, I got the force close error "application browser (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly". Is there a fix for this?

Exact same procedure. Download file to sd card, boot to recovery, install zip from sd card. Now you have the tools to flash anything you want to try - ROMs, themes, add-ons, etc.

@Landshark, I did see that but I assumed the updated deBinged browser was in the latest 2.6. I guess I misunderstood. I will update that now, thanks.

I thought so too, but installing this debinged browser is apparently fixing the problem for people.

Can I flash the new 2.6 kernel via cwm? I upgraded my 2.4 to 2.6 and I have no mobil data now. I tried reflashi.g but nothing.

I like having these updates come out... but I don't like the theme that came on this ROM, is there a way to change the theme back to the "normal" one, or is it easier for me to just go back to the 2.2 version or something like that?

When the Fascinate originally came out it had the 4 buttons on the bottom, the 2.6 version I just installed has more like the Froyo release at the bottom that the came out officially for the Original Droid... the Phone, Apps, Browser thing at the bottom... I want back to the original look.

do you know how to use clockwork recovery, if so
flash this

Touchwiz launcher + widgets/apps
http://adrynalyne.us/files/patches/eb01_touchwiz.zip

if this does not work or gives you problems just flash debloated version
