disable any antivirus thats on
try a different USB port in the back of the computer
Make sure your battery is out during the entire process

Thinkin about doing some surgery on my Fascinate...ugghh. Ended up dling EB01 full froyo rom with root last night from DXC's list. It's buggy bc I'm getting FCs for Gmail of all things now. As a result, I can't get into the market. Backups are completed.

Should I return to stock and do this process all over again? Or should I go to the EB01 developers rom again then bump up to a newer rom? DXC thought the code may have gotten messed up because I had so many problems when I first rooted and flashed. Any guidance/thoughts?

Hey Dave, I'm trying to remember all the things you've already tried. As far as getting into the market, did you try going menu=>applications=>all=>market and clearing the cache for the market? If I remember you wanted to stick with stock because of the Vcast videos? Is that right? I'm wondering if there is a way to have you try the debloated/deodexed version and figure out how to get what you want installed separately.

ok.....I have a quick question now....I checked with my friend's phone and his phone is not rooted its pure 2.1 eclair version. I saw his phone's batt usage and his display was only 30 some %......mine is usually from 67~86%.....its more than a double....my display setting is lesser than his phone....Im pretty sure that it will increase my batt life much longer if my display is about his....any thoughts??? (is that bc im using rooted version????)

most likely because he is using 3rd iteration kernel of eclair,,,and you are using a leaked version of a kernel that we dont even know if they were done testing everything, im sure as time goes on the official version will be better and by the 2nd or 3rd update it will be more refined,,,,or you may have a custom undervolted kernel by then.

Are you getting the percentages from menu=>settings=>about phone=>battery use? If so I believe everything listed in that menu will add up to just about 100%. So all that shows is of that 100% of battery usage what proportion is dedicated to each one. So your display being at 67-86% does not mean your display is sucking the battery life out twice as fast as your friend's at 30 some %.

I could be wrong, but I swear I read that somewhere else. Who knows with everything I have read in these forums. No doubt for the most part our battery life has suffered on Froyo, just not quite sure why. Hell I've been doing so much reading because I've got a buddy who has a Droid X he wants me to root for him, so I've been reading the DX forums. I hope I don't start giving out DX info, tips, and tricks to the Fascinate people by mistake.

Am I able to change the themes of the phone? If so do I have to use certain ones to go with the mod?

No it doesnt overclock and i dont support that since it is not healthy on the cpu and the rom is already very fast....yes you can change themes just need to make sure they are EB01 compatible..... you should know if you are using eclair that you need to use a version that will wipe your data or you will get force close loops from hell
