[ODIN] Official Froyo ED01 packaged custom ROMs w/Root - Updated 06/12/11

Newb question also :/

Is clockwork already built into the ED01DB_DOx_SHARK.tar file? If not how do we get to clockwork cooked in to complete your steps: 'Zip files get flashed in CWM, and tar and bin files get flashed in ODIN. So if you have the CWM 3.0 file ending in .tar, you flash it in ODIN as is. If you have the CWM 3.0 file ending in .zip, you flash it in CWM.'

Or is there another step involved that isn't listed? On one thread it is stated as needing a kernel before cwm can be flashed. Is it possible to flash the ED01DB and then boot and flash cwm using ROM Manager.

Thanks!

It contains the stock recovery.

Do this

Use ODIN to flash teh ED01DB_DOx file

When done, unplug phone, Close ODIN

Re-open ODIN, plug phone back in and go to download mode

Load the CWM 3-30 Fix All .tar file in ODIN

Flash via Odin

Close Odin, Unplug, REboot.

So running the ZIP in clockwork is needed if already installed and only needs to be updated, correct?

I would reference the post of the developer that you got the .zip recovery from about installing from recovery.

Otherwise you're correct.

if it is a .zip you install in Clockwork

if it is a .tar file you install in ODIN.

I recommend the ODIN version.

As stated in the OP, all the ODIN packages contain an older version of CWM, CWM-Froyo. It is the only recovery I can include and get the phone to boot up after flash. That is why the instructions direct you to flash a different recovery after flashing the ODIN package.

Thanks everyone!! Still trying to learn all this fun android stuff... FINALLY switched over from bb/ios... and loving it!!!!!

Update From VZN

I just did the ODIN update to ED01. After doing the restore section, and rerunning the phone, I now really love it. All the added stuff is way cool.

I was on EC01 froya, and never got notifications for updates. I just received notification to D/L Froyo from VZN. I did, then canceled before installing.

I am afraid it will mess with all the good stuff thats been done already. Am I right?

Do I want to do this?:-\

Funny you should ask. PM sent.

LAndshark,

Is the version that is up for D/L the newest version? I know it seems to work great on my phone, other then being a power pig.

Thanks for all you've done. I wish I had the skills. But it is to late to teach an old dog......:D:D

Went from 1.3 CR to 2.0 last night thru odin, everything works fine so far except charging the battery while the phone is shut off. The Large Battery symbol shows dark with no indication of green to display the amount of charge that is present as you start charging. Also the wheel symbol does not move to show progress?, .The battery will charge but will not display results. The biggest problem though is that I cannot start the phone from this stage. I have to pull the battery and then hit the power button to get the phone to turn on. Any buddy have any thoughts?

Sound more like a problem with your USB connection than the ROM. Try cleaning out your USB port as best you can. I have read where someone else was having a similar issue and they got it fixed by cleaning out the USB port with som isopropyl aclohol and letting it dry.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. It's weird that it will actually charge the phone, you just can't see it progressing and doing a battery pull to be able to turn the phone on.

this community update to 2.0 killed my 3g. it was running fine for one night now whenever I use an app that accesses data, the 3g will continually drop in and out. I flashed back to the Eb01 modem, and it doesnt help. I was on the debloated one before this with no issues. I guess I will have to get verizon to update my data connection?
