Official I got the OTA DL09 update discussion. See Post #2 for problems/solutions!

Forced the update today

I'm in S.E. Michigan.

I saw the announcement this morning and went into the phone system page and did the "check for updates". It immediately found a small 1 minute long update to run. Ran that fine - it rebooted, and then on power-up it found another much larger update (it estimated 10 min to complete the install) - presumably the DL09 code. did the d/l on that OTA and it loaded with no issues at all.

I did a *228 after it was all done. Checked the version info page and now see DL09 listed. I did have to turn off "media sync" on my USB connection 2x. All I use the USB cable for is recharging and file transfers - no media sync BS.

I did try out the GPS in Google Maps after the update - very quick lock-on to my location and very accurate. Much improved!!!

Regards, Al

I plugged my phone into my cpu after the update, gave me some new driver update, and now my phone is taking its sweet ass time to connect to media sync.

Just updated and GPS works!
ok now:
USB wont mount anymore, ( i tried the turn on usb debugging mode)
shows up as verizon_mobile disk with files: Toollauncher_bootstrap.exe & others.

any ideas? I use mac & linux (dont work in xp either, incase it wants these drivers)
and it used to be cool the SD card mounted as a drive!

A lot of us are getting this. I haven't had any success with the work-arounds mentioned in this thread.

Go into your Settings - USB Settings and change the option to "Ask ..." back out then go back in and change to "Mount ..." and it should put it back the way you want it.

Hi ! Big Bear, Southern California, in the Mountains, checking in. I did my update around midnight last night. Very smooth. The phone seems blazingly faster for whatever reason and my battery life is better, still shows full bars since this morning, with heavy playing around on it.

The GPS is 99.9% better. Inside the House it locks in fast and pretty much shows the House next door. It used to show a few blocks away. Using it outside it takes about 5 seconds to lock on the correct address. As it is, I am happy enough.

It seems The new little symbol has nothing to do with 911 location, it just tells you that any one of your 3 choices of GPS is on, but it doesn't mean it's running, until you actually use it via maps or location based browsers. I think that's already been mentioned though.

I havn't tried hooking it up to my computer yet and se if it has the same challanges as some others have, but then again I never have tried that since I got the phone, never felt a need too.

Now Bring on Froyo!

After I do that my computer says the disk isn't readable :(

So far, so good

Just updated around 3pm in NC.

Everything seems fine so far.

Definite improvement with GPS as well as the bottom row of lights staying lit correctly.

I'm curious if anyone that has had the update for a little longer has noticed any significant change in battery life (good or bad)

When I plug into my computer, It goes to USB Connected like before, But idk what this media sync is, and when ever I plug it into my computer a web page opens up for VCAST Media Manager, I just downloaded it for giggles

I dont like how the media player on the phone now will start playing when I click the app.

I am rooted and had previously renamed various apk's in the system\app folder to temporarily remove bloatware. Beyond that I am not running any custom ROMs or anything. Upon downloading the OTA update I received the IP failure message. I went in and renamed all of my .old apk's back and the update was a success, though I did lose root. The backlight appears to be holding with the display timer but my GPS is still lagging a bit.

NOt sure if this has to do with this update or not but I noticed today under settings\about\status my signal str would down to -70's dBm. Anyone else know if this is the norm or related to the update?

Wifi problem?

Does anyone have a problem scanning for wifi? After the update i cant connect to any wifi network. it says "unable to scan for networks"

Looks like the youtube issue i'm seeing is related to the usual account connection issue. The difference now is that it automatically tries to connect to my account (which fails) where before it would just open youtube and not try to hit my account until I hit the menu and account.

I don't have the media player problem. It hasn't started playing my music at all. I had to actually select the song I wanted it to play.

I did my DL09 update this morning via OTA on my unrooted phone. All works great now except I am finding the battery drains REALLY quickly and the battery is getting very hot. Anyone else experience this?
