Whether it is burn-in or image retention is irrelevant because either way, when you go to show people that cool picture you took or watch a YouTube video, that nav bar is going to be visible.
Wrong..... the V20 occasionally shows image retention which isn't permanent on a mostly blank screen and it's difficult to notice. I have to pull up a test screen to see it.
Yeah, but it's helped me add a new crop of names to my Ignore List.Well then. I see this thread has train-wrecked hard this afternoon.
I have gotten the assurances I need to keep the phone regardless from Google Support re warranty (see below). Burn in is covered. Anyone that wants can copy it off for their use should the need arise......Iwith all the frustration with lollipop I switched to Apple. I was hoping the P2 would be the phone that would bring me back to Android.
I'm pretty confident that Google will somehow fix the display issues. I will say I hope they do anyway. I was an android fanboy since the OG Droid. But with all the frustration with lollipop I switched to Apple. I was hoping the P2 would be the phone that would bring me back to Android. I admit I miss it. But I won't come back using an awesome device with a sub-par display. Premium price should equate to a premium device. On all levels.
Anyone remember the widespread screen bleed issues with the Nexus 7. Asus stepped up and fixed the issue. I still have my 2nd Gen N7 and the display is still fine.

Yeah I was going to say.. Is it really an issue if you have to pull up just the right app on a certain color to see it?

Looks like you may want to wait for the Pixel 3...
Personally, I love my P2 XL, and all the issues that people have with the screen don't affect me at all.
I only see the blue tilt if I specifically look for it, it's a non-issue for me.
I actually prefer my colors to be less saturated, so that kerfuffle doesn't bother me at all.
And this latest issue, well... If you have to follow a specific procedure just to check for a problem, I kinda doubt I'd ever notice it in my day to day use of the phone.
I love my P2 XL.
BUT... I wouldn't mind having a better screen. Who would?
And the good thing about Google being one of the richest companies on the planet is that they can afford all these learning experiences.
I'd be willing to bet they won't have any screen issues with the P3 XL.
So I'm going to continue loving and using my P2 XL, and when the P3 XL comes available, I'll buy that too.
You can stick to the S8+ forum, too, while you're at it.
Pity. The forums are for everyone to comment, last I checked.

The v20 is LCD, which means it's not permanent and usage may actually decrease the retention.Wrong..... the V20 occasionally shows image retention which isn't permanent on a mostly blank screen and it's difficult to notice. I have to pull up a test screen to see it.
I have a theory on the burn in issue. Based on the phones I have in my house hold and friends I think part of the problem is the screen brightness (original xl,v30,s8,s8+,and 4 different iPhones). My 2xl seems to be much brighter at the same brightness settings as almost all of them. Currently my wife has a v30 and as we know basically the same panel. My 2xl at 10% is roughly the same as hers at 40%. I wonder if googles calibration is to high for the panel. It might also account for the washed out look. I am phone crazy one little thing will drive me crazy. I really hope I don’t get any burn in, because I got amazingly lucky. My screen is great. Almost no blue shift mine is more the normal just a bit darker. Not blotchy or grainy at all. Lastly my colors are actually very good.
