On the GS6. What's more of a deal breaker for you, no removable battery or no SD card?

Meh. There's the problem that about half of the consumers have a pay-for-data plan. So, pushing and retrieving movies and such from the cloud is not necessarily an economical thing to do.
true, battery is also a concern, as uploading and downloading will eat the battery alive.

Im also concerned about data security with cloud storage.

It isn't that .. it is reps in stores have been shown time and time again to not know what they're talking about. I highly doubt Samsung tells everything they do in the design process and why to their store reps. Their reps sell their phones as is .. They don't tell customers how it was built.. because most don't care. So going on that .. it makes sense that the guy wouldn't know this.

Well...looks like he knew a little more than you gave him credit for with the reason they left out the card according to the latest GSM:

There lies to the key to the lack of a microSD slot. If you were to put an SD card on your Galaxy S6, you’d have compromised this blazing-fast performance. This is actually true for all 2014 high-end phones, but it seems Samsung wanted users to truly feel the difference this time around and has decided on not including the storage expansion on the feature list even if it made a lot of users sad.

Yeah, I've kinda settled on the Note4 to replace my Note2.
I wanted something a little between the size of the Note and the S4, but I just found out the S5 Screen is only 1/10" larger than the S4.

I love my Note 4! big screen, great battery life, replaceable battery and micro SD card. (I have had to replace the battery on every cell phone I have ever owned.) If Sammy is going the sealed phone, no micro sd card route, my Note 4 may be my last Sammy product.

Uh .. the guy said the rep said that it was due to price .. not speed. So not sure what you're trying to say? :).

right, cause it had nothing to do with the tens of millions of dollars they'll make from higher storage device sales ... speed is a positive spin they'll put on it, but don't kid yourself, this is about one thing, money

Bottom line is that you're not going to be able to point to a single factor. I'm sure money was part of it. I'm sure speed was part of it. Also simplicity of support. And battery life. And security. The point is there were just too many factors going against including a MicroSD slot, and apparently not enough money in keeping them around to make it worth their while.

Agree here completely. I think security is a big factor as well especially with them pushing Knox and Android having the multi-user option now.

Don't care about non removable battery. Scared by smaller capacity battery, coming from my G2.

It's call showing a significant improvement over a marginal one like the M9. Samsung swung for the fences, there are a number of areas where they can benchmark and boast, which leads to your obvious statement of it's all about the money.

Or they could have done another idiotic marginal improvement like the S4 and S5 and they'd be getting destroyed like HTC is...who will NOT make money this year, or at least nowhere near what they could have if they stuck their neck out like Samsung did.

I flatout refuse to buy any phone without both. "Premium"-looking design at the expense of features is supposed to be Apple's thing. I liked Samsung for prioritizing practicality.

What is this I hear the S6 Active model might have a SD card but no way to change the battery, unless you got a special tool kit and a hair dryer ?

What is gonna be a S6 Active ?

I am trying to understand why removable storage is such a big deal NOW. I have a T-Mobile Note 4 32GB version with a 64GB micro SD card. I can tell you that the micro SD card is empty and has been since I got the phone. All my pictures are stored on the internal storage because it processes faster that way and then they are auto backed up. In the past it was a big deal but that was before we could upload our music to Google Music and then just stream it or auto back up your photos to Google photos. I get that some people don't have unlimited data on their phones and can't stream all day long but to essentially eat up 32GB or more of storage with stuff you may use 10% of the time just does not make sense. Is it necessary to keep every picture you have ever taken with your cell phone on your actual cell phone? (if they are backed up to Google Photos you can access them anytime you want) Do you really need to have your ENTIRE music collection on your cell phone? (Google now lets you upload up to 50K songs to their service). I will be pre-ordering the S6 tomorrow from T-Mobile and I won't have an issue with any of the changes.

Don't know where you heard that, no one else has heard that the Active would get an SD slot, and I haven't seen anyone reporting that it was even rumoured, just some people sore over missing SD slots wishing it'll be there. In fact it's strongly likely the Active won't have an SD slot.

You should provide a link to the source.

I agree completely and been saying this from the beginning. I dont hoard around every single pic and my entire music collection with me. Maybe 5 years ago I did but there are so many storage and back up options now there is no need to. I plan on getting the 64gb but I can probably get by with the 32 also.

When you could buy Micro SD cards and not pay the extra money for the STorage from the mfg. It was cheaper.
I'd rather have a Micro SD card and a removable battery. So when I go on a trip in I don't have to worry about the battery being dead.
And the Sd card to store pictures on. The phones with the 16mp camera are great to take pictures and store.
Got a bunch of apps also on the SD card not to mention ringers and all also..

This is something a select bunch of people want and it was important to us.
Weather it was important to everybody else or not.

Its like the heritage of the phone is gone. Why didn't they just come out with another model phone and not mess the original up.
And then see which one sold the best. And model everything from there.
