I downloaded to a PC first, then transfered to my SD card

To those having errors -- are you downloading directly on the phone then moving/renaming the file with Astro or another file manager? I just saw another Dinc that got the errors described by teamberkey and others -- the user DL'd the file straight to the phone and moved/renamed with Astro. When he then dl'd the file to a PC and renamed it on the PC (making sure file extensions are visible) then moved to to the SD card, the install worked.

Yea I downloaded on PC, renamed, moved to SD root and went through the install process. After a couple redo's, I then tried renaming the file through ASTRO, still no luck.

I suppose I could try a factory wipe and then run it... unless anyone has a stroke of genius to lay on me.

IF YOU ARE ROOTED THIS WILL NOT WORK. Unrevoked = ClockwordMod Recovery. You must have the STOCK recovery installed to apply the OTA update.

I am rooted using unrevoked and tried the update before reading that it is not possible. So after it did not work I used my nandroid backup to restore the phone. Everything seems to work except the market. It says that it is "starting download..." but then nothing happens. I have tried restarting the phone but it does not help. Any suggestions?

Boot back into recovery and then try to install the update again not sure why your getting these FC. If that doesn't work you might want to do a wipe in recovery and try then to install again.

not real familar with that stuff you mean I should follow the same steps that i took to install it the first time? I just did a factory reset from the recovery menu and rebooted now it's taking me through the initial steps, just rebooted, hopefully this will fix the issue.

Update: the factory reset worked fine now running Froyo Holy Shins!! I thought I was in trouble

AppBrain wants to update Flash Player

The Froyo update went off without a hitch, but AppBrain is giving me a notification to update Flash Player. As far as I know, 10.1 is definitely installed, so what is this? I'm not able to access a Market page for it either.

just installed the update and waiting on my phone to finish rebooting. I'm so excited I saw the new splash screen so I guess it installed correctly. I have a question though as my screen comes on sense tries to load but continues to force close. now I'm scared

Mine did too but it was my keyboard. I quickly clicked force close button then long pressed on the text box. This allowed me to switch keyboards to the standard one and the force close quit coming up. Just a thought in case you have an aftermarket keyboard installed.

The build that is installed, IIRC, is .79.1 -- the latest build is .92.xx. Interesting that App Brain prompts you to update. It will be a while before HTC/Verizon bless a later build through the market.

thank you guys I was so scared I messed it up.

If you do not factory reset your phone HTC sense might not work correctly. I don't know if you can do this before the update but I did it after I installed the update by powering down, going into recovery and doing a factory reset from there. I would do a backup of apps if you don't wanna go through the trouble of reinstalling all that stuff as well.

can someone please answer my question!? I am rooted with unrevoked, did not run unrevoked forever, did not update my radio, did not flash any custom ROMS or any of that. can I download the update.zip directly to my phone and upgrade manually by following the steps on the main page of AC?

just did the update!!! now i need to reset all my widgets and such to make room on screens for new things. so far so good.

It does not work. I keep getting a "Installation Aborted" error. I am following the instructions correctly as well.
I will have to just wait for OTA I guess.

I renamed the file to just 'update' (in case the .zip was hiding somehow) but that didn't work. Renamed again to 'update.zip', but still hit the same error... maybe a sign I should just wait for the OTA.

If on your computer you rename the file with the "hide extensions unticked" (in your folder options on computer) you will see where it has the "update.zip.zip" though , if I can do it anybody can
