OTA link

Ok finally got it to go through! I followed the XDA links (including a factory reset) and now it went through.

Thanks everyone for the help!!

For those getting the Status 7 Error, this is what I figured out.

Back in May there was a small OTA update, I never got it, so my software code on my phone was 1.22.605.0 that OTA update changed it to 1.22.605.2

Go here: HTC Incredible/Guides&Tutorials - XDA-Developers

download the may OTA update, put it in your root directory of your SD card, name it update.zip and do follow the same update processes.

Once you have applied this OTA update from May, you can then install the new Froyo OTA update.

im getting installation error with this install too!! :(

Working fantastically!! Now just exploring. Remember when renaming file just put "update" as it adds the .zip itself. Had a problem at first with it showing up as update.zip.zip. Needed to go into ASTRO and delete the last zip. FROYO be had!!!

What's the current thinking on upgrading the Adobe Flash app to the latest version after the update? Go for it, or leave good enough alone????

Just updated my Incredible to Froyo using the update.zip and the installation instructions for Nexus One provided via the above link and all is well. Just be patient and you should have no problems. I copied the file to the SD card using the Bluetooth File Transfer app found in the Market.

Nice surprise, although I must say that the update is not really such a big deal for me. The biggest thing I was looking for was the ability to use it as a wifi hotspot, but that requires an extra $20/month from Verizon with a 2GB monthly limit. I'll continue to use PDAnet when I need to tether. It's free and works with no additional data plan, other than the standard $30 plan we all have with our Droids. This only supports USB tethering on a single machine, but it works very well.

I wonder when someone will crack the wifi hotspot app to work around this requirement that I pay the additional $20? I'm not rooted, but maybe that's what I'd need to do? Anyone know?
I'm new to this so I need some help. I downloaded the OTA. I see it listed in the Bluetooth File transfer app with the really long name. How do I copy and move it to the sd card? Also, how do I rename it?

You are the man!

I am just glad I could finally give something back to the android community. Even though it was just as simple as catching a url.

Thanks a bunch Teslatech. One question the URL you posted is that what showed up in Alogcat or is that the URL where you posted the update.zip? I would have though it was a URL inside VZW's network. If we know what it is maybe we can figure out how they post OTA's for future updates. Just a thought.

Thanks again.

So I applied the file to my phone, and I'm having some issues.

First, it completely reset all of my notification sounds, very annoying.

Second, ATK keeps having apps to kill ALL THE TIME. Some apps are just randomly firing open. I haven't access AK Notepad at all today, or ShopSavvy, and they both just randomly started for no reason.

Starting to become very annoying with all this.

Froyo removes the API's that the task killers need in order to function correctly. They are not needed nor supported in Froyo, so uninstall them and life will be grand. Let the OS do the memory management as it was designed.

For everyone wanting this and keeping root. Either flash a rooted ROM or wait for unrevoked to give you an easier root method before you upgrade.

HALLELUJAH!!!!!! now I finally don't have to deal with all those bastards who join Android forums JUST to say "YAY I JUST GOT THE UPDATE! IT'S SO AWESOME!"

How do I know that they just join the forums to say that? Because their post count is usually below 3

My Dinc is slow as dirt now with this update, anyone else having that problem? Unlock screen takes forever.

Well...

This worked like a charm.... took about 15 minutes... but all seems stable...

Only issues I have come across are:

Notification and Ring Tones: The update changed all my notifications and ring tones to random tones I have on my phone.... didn't know until I got an email and the Beatles started playing... LOL!

Swype: I did have to uninstall the Swype Installer and the Swype Program. Downloaded via my orginal Swype beta email (which updated it to the latest version) and installed.... Rebooted the phone and all is working.

Lego!

What's the current thinking on upgrading the Adobe Flash app to the latest version after the update? Go for it, or leave good enough alone????

Current version is working fine, updated version can't currently be installed (at least on my phone and several other's). So leave it for now, and update it once they get the market issue resolved.

im getting installation error with this install too!! :(

I am no where near an expert, but I was hitting the same thing all morning until I ran a factory wipe from the Recovery menu... then updated the 2.1 OS based on instructions in the XDA link (check previous comments in this thread for that). Then I loaded the Froyo update.zip provided in the XDA link and it worked.

I'm thinking the cause was because of my uninstalling or removing some stock programs/folders a while back. Either way, it's working smooth now, no issues yet, although I do have to reinstall apps and all.

For some reason when I go to apply update.zip in the recovery menu, it errors out with a (Status 7) error. I'm not rooted and I am saving it as the right file name and in the right spot of the SD card. I've done this before but idk whats going on. Any thoughts?
