question... when i try and load my custom recovery and update from HBOOT it says "partition update fail", then when I try and go into recovery mode I get the evo with the red triangle. Please help. I just want root back with the update!

Oh and just in case anyone was curious. after i flashed the stock recovery and ran the OTA update I simply deleted stock recovery zip and re-ran unrevoked 3.21

So maybe a dumb question, but if i'm not rooted, i have to either wait for the update notification for ota or do it the manual way described in the front page story? Clicking on firmware update in system update doesnt work?

You want to check htc software update, not firmware.

Mine did the same thing! I just went and had Sprint send me a new one yesterday. It should be in route for delivery for TODAY!. I'll hold off from rooting to see how stock feels. ITs been a while.

I have latest release of Unrevoked 3 and had to install the new software update manually. Was the "scariest" install so far for my Evo. Took a long time to install after several battery pulls.
Biggest issue with this update....I thought the new update addressed the issue of not being able to edit calendar events. Well I still cant edit my calendar events and my calendar says "Valentine's Day" fall on February 13th next year........Who moved up Valentines Day a day earlier.
Anyone else able to edit their calendar events with this new software update?

I love this update! Even more than 2.2. Everything is much smoother. I'm so glad that the movies I have on my phone play back smooth now. They used to stutter a lot before.

+1 I'm confused. Got a notification for an OTA update to 3.29.651.5 last night... Ran the update, etc. and am now having trouble with App Brain. Can't fast install form web or install/update form phone at all...

Anyone else? Wtf?

Yes, I had this problem after I updated to 3.29.651.5. I couldn't download any apps or updates from the Market or AppBrain. Every one I tried got stuck at "starting download...." I fixed the problem by clearing the data in the phone's Download Manager (Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/Download Manager/Clear Data).

I haven't been able to log into Google Talk, but I haven't tried to fix that yet (I suppose I have to clear that app's data too).

I also had a big problem logging into the stock YouTube app because the keyboard kept disappearing on the captcha screen. I tried accessing "input method" from the text field, but none of the keyboard selections I made would become visible. When they did, nothing showed up in the text field when I typed. I finally gave up and kept hitting back trying to exit (nothing else was working to exit). Finally, a screen came up that would let me type in the text field, and I successfully logged in. It was a very buggy process.

I probably have other problems I haven't discovered yet. Guess I've been lucky, but this is the first time I've ever encountered problems updating a phone. I don't see any big change that would suggest a frame rate increase, so I'm wondering if the update was unsuccessful. Other than the problems I encountered after the update, the process appeared to go OK and the phone reports the new version. Should I reinstall it? My EVO is running 2.2, and it's NOT rooted by the way.

I had this so I reinstalled "fast web installer" on my phone.

Thanks for this--I'll check it out. I reinstalled Fast Web Installer and was able to fast install a couple things, but Doggcatcher won't install (either via the phone or web, app brain or Android market) and Smart Shortcuts won't update (and one other, I can't remember).

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing (install of .5 didn't happen the way it should have) because I see all of these comments about how awesome this update is and for me it's just been trouble, if anything...

How to reinstall the update?

I too am on an unrooted EVO with 2.2, btw.
