OTA_Supersonic_3.29.651.5-3.26.651.6 [official update]

downloading now via 3g. i had to turn the 4g radio on before it could find the update. weird

So for those of us running ClockworkMod Recovery, how do we get back to stock recovery so the update.zip will install? I have the zip file (PC36.img) but don't know how to install over Clockwork. I tried "installing" within Clockwork, but each time it comes back when I go to recovery.

Once I do that, I'm sure all will be well. Maybe.

Co-sign, any help would be appreciated!

I've been doing that for the last 30 minutes or so, and haven't found anything viable yet. So I thought I'd ask you guys, just in case...

PM me with your email address. I have it extracted, but AC frowns upon posting apks here in the forums.

Be nice to separate all the root stuff from opinions/impressions on the update. This thread is cluttered.

1. i see "stocks" was now checked for sync even though i kept it unchecked pre-update.
2. sprint zone no longer allows you to uncheck everything so i kept the first one checked and leave all others unchecked. i continue to set it to sync "only at startup" which i assume is only when you start the app (which will be never for me!)
3. tried to start up Google TALK app to make sure that i wasn't signed in and it attempts to sign in but can't. i never directly use this app but this is strange behavior.

Yes, no.3 happening for me as well - Google Talk wouldn't sign in for some reason !

The biggest difference I see is going from Landscale to Portrait. I used to WAIT FOREVER to do this, now it's right away:) Good Job HTC. Very happy with this update. Scrolling is alot smoother as well.

Wow this update makes the machine seem about 2x faster. Even typing is more smooth! I'm glad they took away the only reason that I wanted to root :-)

In fact, that's gotten bad for me :( - it takes forever to go from landscape to portrait !!

This is how I got the update and kept root...

If you have Unrevoked 3 installed:

  1. Download stock Evo Recovery image (Can't find it anywhere... EVO Stock Recovery? - xda-developers)
  2. Place the file in root of SD card and reboot into HBOOT (volume down/power button)
  3. Do the update that HBOOT asks (vol. up for YES)
  4. Reboot
  5. Once rebooted, download OTA and install (should work now)
  6. Once install finishes successfully you can reinstall a custom recovery using the same method (a list of them are here: public:forever [RootWiki])
  7. Once you have a custom recovery back, you will need to reinstall Superuser as an update.zip through recovery ([APP] Superuser 2.3.6.1 - Now on the Market [2010-09-05] - xda-developers)
  8. Reboot and enjoy!

At step 3 I was not prompted for an "update" any idea on what I may have done wrong?

Thanks

James

Do the OTA, if you lose root or superuser permissions just run enrEVOked 3 again, you get them right back. I somehow lost superuser when I manually installed the update last night.

rooted w/ unrevoked 3...

downloaded zip via android central. Changed name of zip to Update.zip
then had to move zip from SD/download/Update.zip to SD/Update.zip for the recovery to work....

then rebooted and got some wierd icons that i'd not seen before....and took a while to reboot on the 4g logo...
then received a "congratulations you've updated to....blah"

also, mine updated to .5 and not .6 not sure if that makes a difference? or just naming of the file android central had??

just thought i'd share..

update...

damn this thing runs smooth now. avg 53 FPS (used FPS2D app)

Hey ecaggiani, I followed your steps but I'm stuck on the ota download part. Its on the sd card root and I renamed it update.zip, but when it begins to install it stops and says status 7, error and aborts. Any ideas?

I did the OTA normally, by downloading it through wifi from HTC Update then letting it install itself just like a normal OTA.

Sent from my HTC Evo 4G because it WAS the droid I was looking for.
