Panda News: Beast Phone Coming to AT&T

The Nexus family isn't about specs, it's about having a phone straight from Google that has Android tailor made for its hardware, and getting updates and other goodies first (Google Talk with Video, Google Wallet, etc).

If you buy the latest Nexus, you will be able to stand against most any other phone in real world performance for the next year (until the next Nexus is released), especially using custom ROMs and kernels. This is the reason I sold my Sensation 4G (superior specs on paper) and kept my Nexus S.

Umm... yes, it is. When the Nexus One came out, it was created to be a flagship device to really launch Android (because every other phone on the market was "meh" at best).

Google may have backed off a bit with the Nexus S, but that's definitely arguable.

Yup. Pretty much.

Once the community get it's hands on this device, expect amazing things to unfold and new life to be added to this phone down the line. It's what's kept me sane with my OG Droid phone all this time.

At this point I'd honestly rather have the AT&T SGS2. Better soc. Smaller phone. Better camera, front and back.

If the SGS2 had the 720p display but at 4.3", that'd be the ultimate phone for me.

Touchwiz, gingerbread for another 8 months, no thank you.

Man I hope a Nexus goes to AT&T, as they use the same frequency as my carrier here in Aus, 850Mhz.

What will a quad core 2 GHZ processor do that my Nexus won't? Texts will still send, phone calls will be answered, pictures will be taken. All these better processors do is give the phone capabilities that not many need or care about. The nexus will be my phone for the next 2 years and nothing except a cancelled launch will stop that. Stock out of the box and first to receiver updates>playing modern combat with a bit more smoothness.

Not so fast, by the first qtr. AT&T will have at least 10 or 15 towers on LTE, so whats your point? :p

And how many will VZW have?

The phone specs are starting to get so out of control it doesn't even matter anymore. With a Nexus with a dual core 1.5m 8 mp cam ummm what more will I need? It's now getting to be over kill.

Why is this thread in the Nexus forum?

Hmm I'm not sure about that. The Nexus One was an experiment from the start. It was sold through Google's site. It wasn't available on Verizon.

Oh, the OG Droid was out and was a great device.

The thread was started under the speculation that the phone he was referencing was the GT-i9250. That's why it was posted here.

Pretty sure Cyanogenmod is already available for the AT&T SGS2. I think you could avoid both Touchwiz and Gingerbread (when ICS comes out) if you were willing to root.

And I think most people interested in a Nexus are willing to root :)

Please try to quell your faux outrage, especially considering you posted this gem which had no new information.

Could one of the moderators move this to rumored devices since Panda clarifed that it's not a Nexus?

Im thinking the Dinara that was talked about a while back?

Verizon and ATT both rumored, but most likely both....

Imagine that. A post about the Nexus Prime in the Nexus Prime forum...you could learn from that gem ;)

Hmm... there was nothing to learn in that forum clogger. It was just recycled information.

Yea... this device is not a sammy, a nexus or the like.. reference design submitted to ATT for their new LTE network.. but since their current 3g network is on the half I wouldnt switch carriers because as we all know. "its only a beast till the next one launches"
