Made it 20 hours today from 0400 to midnight with 7:43 SOT and 39% remaining. Light day of vacation and web research for a project. On Friday I pulled 2.5 hours of call time and about 4.5 hours SOT with around 30% remaining.

This is lasting far longer than I expected.

How's yours been so far? Better or worse than your previous phone?

How the hell do you get 7+ hours of screen on time??? Are you running at like 5% brightness?? I think the most I've ever gotten was 6ish on a Mate 8 and a Mi Mix, both of which had 4,000 or higher mah batteries. I don't feel like 7+ hours is legit unless you're going out of your way to make it possible.

50% brightness indoors. No special battery tricks. Yesterday just happened to be a good day. That's why I started the thread. I'm curious what others are getting.

My former KEYone (3505 mAh) lasted two days on a charge with 20-30% left on day two. That was after calls, email, texts, web, etc.

On the PH-1, I just want a full day from a charge—even if it's occasionally running on fumes by the time it hits the charger. So far it's lasting with room to spare.

@Jaymil - Do note that battery life varies from person to person since everyone's usage is different, apps are different, network conditions, brightness, what kind of settings, sync and so many other factors.
So comparing SOT of one person with another is not what you should be doing. You can see how it performs compared to your previous phones with similar setup and usage patterns.

Wow... yeah thanks for talking to me like I'm 10 yrs old and this is my first smartphone...lol I'm using a Mi Note 2 right now with a 4000 mah battery and about 5 apps installed (just wiped it to sell to a friend but needed to use for a few more days while waiting on my essential). I only installed a few apps to hold me over and I still top out at about 6 hours SoT. I know how apps and usage effect battery life... save your lecture for the mall kiosk.

Didn't know my results would be this controversial. lol :p

Same question from the first post... how's your battery life been and how's it compare to your previous phone?

Regardless of how you got the results.. its good to hear. The Verge's review had similar results and everyone kinda wrote that off as an outlier. I'm fine with not getting 7 hours, long as I can get a solid 4.5 ish I'm good.

Re: Essential Review thread

I'm on the road slot, so most of the time my phone's are on the car charger, but today I wanted to test out the battery. Here are the results. Pretty good, 5hrs screen on time. Could probably get it to 5:30-6:00hrs. I'm at 12% right now.

While the battery lasts 24hrs, my SOT has been around 4hrs. I usually don't care about SOT rather how long before I put it for charge, so in that regards, it is still average as my OP5, S8 and Note 8 all perform better than the Essential Phone.

How much percentage is left on your other phones in comparison? "Better" doesn't say much, really. Numbers would help. :D

All I wanted was a full day of calls/texts/email/web and some extra at the end of the day. I'm getting that with a fair amount to spare.

My other phones are 20% on day 2 afternoon, so nearly they are OK for 1 1/2 days before I want to charge, and get > 4hrs SOT. I am trying to see whats the difference but I actually have less apps in my Essential Phone.

That's about what I'm getting. I typically end my day with around 4-5 hours of SOT and 50% battery. I can hit 20% by noon on day 2 without much effort. I charge nightly regardless.

I'm getting slightly better battery life than my former S8 — maybe 5 to 15% if I had to guess. It could be from fewer background process.

Day 1 after the NMI64C update:

Voice calls: 2h 51m
Screen time: 5h 36m
Roughly 2h use of Poweramp
Roughly 45m use of Firefox
Roughly 30m use of BB Hub for email/text

20% battery remaining after 21 hours as of this post. Not bad for my use. It's been a long day.

@1901Madison since you were curious.

Currently at 46%
5 hours sot
Been unplugged for almost 12 hours
I was worried about my horrible reception eating battery but that's not the case. The little graph for cell signal is all orange and red haha, still didn't drain my battery.

Good to see more positive news in here. It's definitely better than I was expecting out of an SD 835.

I am loving this phone more than any other phone I have had. Everytime I pull it out of my pocket I'm like damn. The only other phone to give me this sense was the honor8.

I don't have mobile data yet (sim should arrive today) but I'm pretty impressed with battery life... went for a 3+ hour hike yesterday, started w/ 90% listening to my .mp3's (PlayerPro Music Player), got back and still had 75%; with my GS4 I'd have been down to 40%. But I'm reminded that this is a new battery and out of the box they always seem to work better than the phone you're replacing.

Just got this device... Today is my first day of normal usage... I'm at the end of the day with 39% with just over 5 hours of SOT. Very impressed.

I'm getting horrible battery life, nothing like what has been posted here. Today, left home with 100%, maybe 4-5 texts and two 1 minute calls and it looks like 11-12 hours battery life. My SOT is 1:05. I purposely tried not to touch my phone to see how much I would have at the end of the day.

I use waze for 45 minute commute to/from work. 8 hour work day, yesterday I was 10% left at home. Battery saver (15%) came on during drive home.
