Phone will not hard reset.

I have a Blue V50 phone, circa 2021, probably Android 8 - 9, to which I have lost the PIN, and therefore wish to do a hard reset. But the described method for bringing up the boot loader -- pressing the volume-up and on-off buttons together, does not bring up the boot loader. It merely starts the phone. What can I do? Please advise.

Most androids to get into recovery to factory reset turn the device off then restart before it restarts hold Volume up and power button same time and this should take you to the menus in recovery to perform factory reset , but remember it will ask for your Google's credentials when doing so after factory reset as it's still linked to your Google's account.

Thanks for the reply. However, I have tried exactly this maneuver with this phone at least a dozen times, always with the same result. It simply turns on to the login screen. So I took it to Geek Squad at Best Buy and asked the techie there to show me how to hard reset it, and he could not either, with exactly the same experience.

Is there any other way of getting this done?

Thanks, but the Vol Up button does not work either, although the result is different -- it causes the phone to reboot.

Another possibility to consider is that one of the Volume keys is faulty, this preventing you from successfully booting into Recovery. Not much you can do in that case.

The button press sequences can sometimes be tricky, so it might help to see exactly what you're doing. That would require you to take a video (using another camera) of the process so we can see exactly how you're pressing the buttons and for how long.

Good point, OP did mention it restarted to screen log in page so that's an indication didn't do it correctly
