It's not a matter of being partial. I owned the 3VO first. For the most part, I liked it. Watching Green Hornet in 3D was AMAZING, loved Sense 3.0 and the HTC user community is a cut above. However, the call quality/volume & speakerphone quality/volume were unbearable for me and my clients. Personally, I believe a phone must excel at being a phone first and multimedia device second. The 3VO had it backwards. The quality of the Photon's screen is debatable depending if you can see the "screen door effect" or not (fortunately, I have to look really hard at mine and at just the right angle to see it) but the call quality and volume of the earpiece and speakerphone are 2nd to NONE (read all of the reviews). Therefore, the Photon serves as a much better phone for me. I am a businessman and call quality is my number one priority plus the Photon's signal is stronger and the phone seems a lot snappier with no lag.
Bottom line: Both phones are excellent. Your choice depends on which features you consider to be important. (However, I've seen more posts about trading in the 3VO for the Photon vs. the other way around.) Unfortunately, the advertising for the Photon pales in comparison to that for the 3VO!
I'm so glad you finally have a good phone. I remember when you had a bad EVO3d. you know a broken phone.
what I don't get is why you think all of the evo phones are the same as your broken phone? after all the vast majority of evo3d users are not returning their phone. just look at all the polls on this website...the EVO3D is the most popular phone carrier wide on this website. Even the poll that asked if you were going to return the evo3d for the photon and a vast majority said no way. while my external speaker is a bit low, the volume on my earpiece is so loud that I have to lower it to 50 percent. call quality is beyond awesome and my signal strength is great as well. I have my phone 28 days and I have not even had 1 dropped call yet. I live and work right by the ocean so I'm only getting up call signals from 1 directions I'm not surrounded by cell towers.
