Photon and Evo 3d

It's not a matter of being partial. I owned the 3VO first. For the most part, I liked it. Watching Green Hornet in 3D was AMAZING, loved Sense 3.0 and the HTC user community is a cut above. However, the call quality/volume & speakerphone quality/volume were unbearable for me and my clients. Personally, I believe a phone must excel at being a phone first and multimedia device second. The 3VO had it backwards. The quality of the Photon's screen is debatable depending if you can see the "screen door effect" or not (fortunately, I have to look really hard at mine and at just the right angle to see it) but the call quality and volume of the earpiece and speakerphone are 2nd to NONE (read all of the reviews). Therefore, the Photon serves as a much better phone for me. I am a businessman and call quality is my number one priority plus the Photon's signal is stronger and the phone seems a lot snappier with no lag.

Bottom line: Both phones are excellent.
Your choice depends on which features you consider to be important. (However, I've seen more posts about trading in the 3VO for the Photon vs. the other way around.) Unfortunately, the advertising for the Photon pales in comparison to that for the 3VO!

I'm so glad you finally have a good phone. I remember when you had a bad EVO3d. you know a broken phone.

what I don't get is why you think all of the evo phones are the same as your broken phone? after all the vast majority of evo3d users are not returning their phone. just look at all the polls on this website...the EVO3D is the most popular phone carrier wide on this website. Even the poll that asked if you were going to return the evo3d for the photon and a vast majority said no way. while my external speaker is a bit low, the volume on my earpiece is so loud that I have to lower it to 50 percent. call quality is beyond awesome and my signal strength is great as well. I have my phone 28 days and I have not even had 1 dropped call yet. I live and work right by the ocean so I'm only getting up call signals from 1 directions I'm not surrounded by cell towers.

I so wish you could try my phone for a day. You would be shocked to find out just how good a working EVO3d is.

His point is that on craigslist there is no point in trading a Photon for a used Evo 3D. The seller could have easily return the Photon or exchange it for the Evo 3D (new) at a Sprint store. Hence your story about people on craigslist wanting to trade a Photon for a used Evo 3d makes no sense. Hence he called you a liar.

Because nobody trades in Craigslist within their 30 day return policy? This argument is laughable. I hope you are not siding with that argument as you can look at Craigslist from days back and see that people are trading. Did you know that you are required to pay a fee to trade your phone in within the 30 days as well? It's not free. You don't simply walk in and swap it. It seems that you are misinformed and making assumptions.
The two don't even go hand in hand. Because you can go to sprint and pay 35 dollars to return your phone you won't try to trade someone on Craigslist? Okay...

My point also wasn't that people were trading on Craigslist, you need to read reviews. They speak for themself. Quit trying to accuse me of lying and get back to the discussion. I stand by all my statements in this thread as they are all true.

Your comments are oddly negative for the Photon forum, though.

The Photon reviews were mixed at first, when a lot of people had trouble with silent calls. But in the last week, since the update fixed that, the reviews and comments have been very positive. The poll on this website is biased because when it was running the Photon was brand new and still a little buggy, and few people had tried it, whereas the EVO3D was still new enough to be exciting, but well distributed. Most people seem to vote for the phone they have.

As best as I can tell, both the Photon and the EVO 3D are very popular with the people who have bought them. People generally seem to prefer the EVO's screen and UI, but others like the battery life and radio quality of the Photon. At least, that's what I've been reading.

I hadn't come here to offend anyone. I also have not attacked anyone. I also never said anything about a return window. You are clearly misunderstanding my statements or making the wrong assumption. Your personal attacks are noted and have been forwarded to the moderators. Good luck finding all the "liars". Calling someone names is childish and I don't come on the forum to play childish games, nor do I come with an "agenda".

I made no personal attacks nor called you any name. What I have done is called reading your post, offering a counter point and pointed out statements of yours that do not make sense based on facts.

I never said that trading a phone on Craigslist before the 30 day period made sense, I only stated what I observed. Like I said, I stand by every statement I have made.

If my 3VO was as awesome as yours seems to be, I'm sure I probably would have kept it. Again, I liked it overall and watching 3D movies was amazing. Fortunately, I am extremely happy with Photon and I hope everyone enjoys their phone of choice as much as I enjoy mine. (Thank God for the OTA update that fixed the silent call bug!)

P.S. Remember, we are just taking about phones here. I'm sure we CAN all get along! :-)

if I'm not mistaken, the poll about returning an evo3d for a photon was first made well before the photon was out and no one knew it would have that calling bug in it.
as for the "best phone" poll, I agree with what you say, but bare in mind that the evo3d wins carrier wide, not just on sprint. now base that on all the horrorible reviews that the evo3d got and still get and I think we can agree that the voters think the phone is awesome regardless of what others think.

to top it off, I was just in my local sprint store yesterday. after speaking to a sales rep to get a MHL cable that gives us evo3d users full HDML (yes, the evo3d does have hdml but only with the cable), I asked her how the photon was doing sales wise. her reply was that since it came out, the evo3d is outselling the photon 15 to 1.

I have no doughts that hTc put out quite a bit of bad phones to many sprint users. but my point above stands, you can't compare a bad or faulty phone to a working on. that's just silly.

It sounds like you love your 3VO as much as I love my Photon. That means we BOTH win!

I have no doubt the 3VO is well outselling the Photon due to advertising, name recognition and the fact that it was out first.

I doubt Sprint stores are selling many Photons because Best Buy has had the Photon out for 99 bucks for over half the time the Photon is out for both new and upgrades.

Again, no hate on the 3VO. I like it alot, it will outsell both the Photon and Epic Touch.

Sprint isn't selling them but BB can't seem to keep them in stock. (see below)

If an average person walks into bestbuy and has heard of dual core when u c it for $100 u can't pass it up lol

I think Sprint is doing good by offering THREE killer phones!

  1. Motorola Photon (MoPho)
  2. HTC EVO 3D (3VO)
  3. Samsung Galaxy S2 (Epic Touch)

No doubt, they are all great phones in different ways. One day, one company will make a phone that excels in every way over its peers, and the sun will prob go out.

Either way OP, like i said originally, they are both great phones and everyone has a preference, even me! Like i originally said, i would checkout online reviews and ask around the sprint store or whatever to help you make your decision. I tried to layout ny reasons for deciding on the phone I did. I also never said the photon was a bad phone as I too couldn't make up my mind originally. Hopefully my initial recommendation and research helps you choose your phone wisely! :) Either way, you can't go wrong! Good luck!

I went EVO 3d the pentile display was just bothering me. It's an amazing phone! Couldn't be happier

Whatever your reviews are fine with me. But you said "Every post for a photon around here is to trade for an EVO 3d". I find that laughable. Shows us the link where every post for Photon is to trade for an Evo 3d. Show us some proof of that more people want to trade a Photon for an Evo 3d than the other way around.

We shop in different Sprint stores. I stopped by my local Sprint store to tell my sales rep that the OTA update had solved my problem, and asked how the Photon was doing. She says they are selling tons of them, and she can't wait for her upgrade so she can get one, too. Different strokes for different folks. I'm pretty happy with the Photon, and all the things that bug me are Android things and virtual keyboard things. Oh, and the battery only lasts 12 hours, which is annoying. (I miss aspects of my Pre and its giant after-market battery.) There's nothing I'm unsatisfied with that the 3D would improve.

Yes, some people are more sensitive to pentile screens than others. I don't notice individual pixels on my Photon's screen. In fact, to me, my Photon's display looks much better and brighter than my 3VO's display. It all comes down to personal preference. ;)

oh, I was just giving an example of what one corp store was doing in sales. I didn't mean that it was representing ALL stores and YMMV. :)
but I have to ask, you can't get an after market extended battery for the photon? have you tried suidio? somebody gots to make one for the photon.
