all this tells me is that bestbuy can't get resupplied fast enough, so they are having shipping problems. let me explain.
I'm a retierd photographer. yet I work part time as a salesman. since I've done sales off and on for years, I'll tell you what I've learned...
any product that that is sold today is sold at the highest price that the store can get away with. it only sells it for a marked down price for just a few reasons:
1) a sale price may be posted to help tease shoppers to enter their store and help buy other non sale items. a good example of this is a grosery store. this is not the case with bestbuy.
2) the shipment that came in is way too much for demand so the store posts a sale price to help get rid of extra inventory. this is also not the case with bestbuy or they will not be sold out area wide.
3) demand is so low for the product in question that they must reduce the price to help persuade buyers to get the product instead of another. hmmm, could this be the reason?
the real question now is why is the photon sold out almost everyplace?
if it's not a shipping problem to replenish the stock, then the stores are loosing money by not ordering more cases of phones...so that's not it.
try to understand that a store looses money for each day that they can't sell an item, so they will order 2x or 3x the amount then last time to ensure that they will not be out of stock and can make money on that item. a loss in sales can in fact cause a loss of a job position or two, so stores will not play games like this...at least not the head store manager who's job is at stake.
again, let's talk about pricing. the NS4G is selling so bad for sprint that they have lowered the price to $35, yet the evo4g is still selling well and is $100 now and it has been out longer then the NS4G. a poor selling smart phone going for $35 vs and older, better selling phone going for $100...do you kind of see what I'm getting at?
the reason you are seeing the photon sold out each day for weeks is that it is NOT a big seller and they don't care enough to get more in, or it is a shipment problem. not because it is selling like hotcakes. to not have more in in a week or less means that they are loosing sales, and even if they are only making 50 cents per phone, having them in stock is still worth it to bestbuy.
with that said, I still think that the photon is a great phone. I hope you enjoy yours.
but with all the hype, Ill bet the epic touch will out sell the evo3d 2 to 1 easy. heck, I might get one just for the name only. after all, who doesn't want to be epic touched?
