Photos taken with my Galaxy Gear

makes you question the motives behind all the negativity by these "reviewers"

at least good ol' gsmarena gave it a good and fair review lol

Das, looks like you and I are the only ones that have this Gear all figured out, maximizing features, email notifications coming through to the Gear w no issues. I took a stab today w app watch styler at creating my own watch face. Here is a pix of it. You know once these developers start working on it and getting apps out, it is gonna be a bigger hit. I still think price needs to come down between $150-$200 to make it a bigger success.

Everyone, please test drive and app in the Samsung App store via the Gear Manager titled EasilyDo. It will give you notifications and reminders of meetings, FB post (I don't use FB, but those of you that do it would helpful), and a host of other things. Even Ebay has created an app for the Gear.

Ian I agree with you that as more and more apps become available the Gear will only improve. I never thought $300 was too high of price as an early adopter, but I do believe that Samsung would have sold even more (although they don't appear to having a trouble as it is) if it was compatible on a higher percentage of their main stream Galaxy devices at launch.

I've never worn a watch for more than a day or two, it's so irritating having something strapped to your arm. Now I'm wondering how I'm going to get past my watchophobia. This sounds like such a neat toy but I'm almost certain to not use it because of it being uncomfortable. Before mobiles became ubiquitous, I had a pocket watch. But a pocket watch version of the galaxy gear would be really odd, would you have a camera on it?

I'm with you on watchophobia. I used to wear them all the time but stopped several years ago when I became reliant on my smartphone for everything. Now having had a naked wrist for 8+ years, it feels weird to be wearing one again, let alone one the size of the GG.

But I keep telling myself its just a wearable bluetooth device. Not a watch. I really hope this lets me break the annoying and rude habit of grabbing for my phone every time I get a notification.

Quick question for the GG owners.....Dose it have a volume control on the watch its self?
Can you turn up/down the notification and calls when in use?

Thanks!

I think that you will enjoy the Gear. I didn't read most of the reviews about the Gear because I knew that I wanted it no matter what they said about it. The one review that I did read knocked the Gear badly, but the reviewer even admitted that he had not ever used the device. He was just going by what other reviewers said.

I like the Gear more than I thought that I would.

Wow, what as shocker a blogger posting a review on a device they actually never used. What site was that on, I would like to comment on that page.

Yes you can control volume on the watch for calls and silence for notifications if needed

The post is somewhat old now (9/4/13), but there are later ones on Time.com that seem to follow this same pattern. The first one that I read was here: Samsung’s Galaxy Gear Is a Very Samsung Smartwatch | TIME.com. A more recent one is here: Samsung’s Galaxy Gear Smartwatch Shows How It Shouldn’t Be Done | TIME.com

It has for me. I do not have the need to constantly pick up the phone every few moments.

Yes, and yes to your second question.

Thanks!

After 3 days of wearing the watch, I have forgotten about it until I get an email or notification. I have not worn a watch for about 5 years. On the other hand, I keep constantly looking and wanting to fiddle with the Gear while wearing it.

Lol! :thumbup::D
I also haven't used a watch for over 6 years now, and I think if I get the GG I would be doing the same thing! :D

No need to do that. When you reply, scroll down below the reply box and you will see either Go Advanced reply button or something about managing attachments. There, it will prompt you to look for your attachment to upload. Once done, you scroll to the bottom of the page to close the attachment section, hit reply and voila, it should show.

Are you using the AC app?
If you are, you'll see a button with a camera, press it and go from there. Pretty easy!:D

Also, the camera on the Gear can be set to take photos by voice (say smile, cheese, or capture) and you won't even need to touch the screen.

This watch gets more amazing each and every day. :-)
