Photos Taken With Your Galaxy S3 Camera!

This photo was taken the day after I got the phone...so all setting are default out-of-the-box. (auto mode, auto focus, no filters, auto iso) As you can see, the bottom door sill is overexposed and so is the front wheel well. The front rim is out of focus and slightly blurry (as if my aperture is wrong). The photo was taken towards the end of the day so the sun was indirect...but still plenty of light for a good exposure. I took a bunch of other photos but deleted them because they were all blurry!

Are all the reflections caused by the fresh coat of carnauba wax messing with the auto focus? *i'm a bit frustrated*...can someone suggest some good basic settings or techniques? What's the best filter? What's the best ISO? Should I manual focus from now on? I want to use this phone for "hip shots" rather than having to manually set up the exposure every time.

I would try turning HDR on. If you want to shoot magazine style glamor shots you need a better understanding of what lighting conditions to shoot it in. Once the sun gets below the horizon like that you're not going to get a great shot with a smartphone shooter. You should do a little research on basic photography techniques. There's nothing unique about the S3 other than it doesn't like low lighting conditions like most phone cameras. If you look at my photo it looks good because it's shot in nearly ideal lighting conditions. Sweet ride BTW if that's a real ISF :)

Thanks for the tips. After having more time to play with the camera, I've learned that auto-iso is the culprit...it's not accurate in low light and/or mixed light situations. In the picture I posted, auto-iso chose 80 (wtf?). Now I manually use iso 200 in low light and adjust it higher if the flash is activated (I use the flash as a light sensor). I find that iso200 works nicely in most low light scenes. And thanks for the compliment on my car. Yes, It's a real IS-F. I didn't know they made fake ones :)

I played with panorama stuff the other night. It worked pretty well, but I noticed it's tough to get a "true" image when you're not level. You can notice a light pole gets doubled in one of the pictures.
