I'd rather purchase last year's Pixel 2 XL than this year's iPhone XS Max.
It's not that bad

I actually wish Microsoft could've gotten themselves straighten out. We need a strong 3rd player for consumers.
Wow! Must be nice to have a thousand dollars to throw at a phone. That's nearly a month's wages for my hubby!! Still if you can afford it then it's a good option if you don't mind the notch.
Here in Canada it looks like the iPhone XS Max 512 GB is $1999.
If it wasn't for iPhones we wouldn't have the androids that we have. ??????
If it wasn't for Matias Duarte you wouldn't have the iPhones or Androids that you have today.![]()
I love my phone even nearly a year on. Best phone i ever ownedDefinitely pay it off , and trust me your not losing out because that phone is already great in another year something will be out and then you can decide , but the pixel 2xl is a solid phone for 2 or 3 years more
And tbh comparing it feature to feature me and the hubby kept saying "Our Pixel 2s can do that already" when we were watching the presentation. It felt like we were already ahead of Apple with our current phones.I'd rather purchase last year's Pixel 2 XL than this year's iPhone XS Max.
It is just mindboggling. I spent a grand in 2011 for a MacBook Pro and thought that was expensive. It was still working in August when I traded it in against a Pixelbook. That too would have been £1000. But I hope it lasts as long as that MBP lasted (7 years). In the end I paid £549 for it and by selling my surface 3 for £200 I only paid £349 for it in real terms. 2 GRAND on a PHONE that has a restricted, closed OS that cannot do as much as a laptop even, just bonkers to me. It is more expensive than a current MB Pro. I can't justify those kind of prices for a PHONE!!Here in Canada it looks like the iPhone XS Max 512 GB is $1999.
I like a couple things. One thing I would love to have is optical zoom. I normally don't need it, but sometimes it comes in handy. The A12 chip looks very good, hopefully Google will come out with their own chip in the future that can rival with Apple.
A side note, I think my wife will finally switch over to Android now that all the new iPhones don't have a front button anymore. She refuse to get a new iPhone without a front button. She is ok with the software button Android has, and when her iPhone 7 dies, she might finally make that switch.
A prime motivational factor for my wife to go with a Google phone was the savings of being able to go with Google Fi.
