Post Pixel 6/6 Pro Reviews thread

It seems from the consensus that the optical (why didn't they get a good ultrasonic?) fingerprint scanner kinda sucks. I mean, that's the main way to unlock the P6/P6 Pro and it's not that good. Reminds me of the first gen ultrasonic fps and that was garbage.

That is the "feature" I'm not happy about. Love my finger print scanner of my Pixel 4a, it's in the perfect position when I pick up my phone for immediate unlocking. The scanner swipe up and down for the notification shade works great and I use it all of the time. For me the glass finger print scanner is a step backwards. Should have been the power button.

I'll reserve judgement on this until I get my phone and try it out myself. Hopefully it's not as bad as some people are saying

Yeah, I didn't plan that video at all so I just rambled and even missed some important points that I wish I could add in. I guess that's what happens when you just "do it raw and mostly unedited" in the sense that I'm just winging it. I wasn't even expecting it to be that long either, tbh. Whoops, lol. Sorry...

And to clarify, no, I definitely didn't do it on purpose. There are so many videos I need to make based on this phone, so this sets me back tremendously. When I was able to get an order in it has an estimated ETA of January 17th, so that's brutal.

Thankfully, something came up and I'm really thankful for it. We'll be back in business soon (after I take care of some things at home. Some health things came up this week that I need to attend to first.)

That was pretty impressive! I'm no expert because I almost never shoot videos (and I certainly DO NOT fly drones LOL) but the video from the 6 Pro looked professional!

On a side note, dude was making me nervous flying through the tree branches LOL
The between tree branches obstacle courses were a littles.....nerve-wracking, especially with a $900 phone attached.

Brandon, I'm glad to see you here. Please keep us posted on how everything is going for you. I enjoy your tweets and of course the great reviews you create. Definitely leave reddit in your dust. reddit and those trolls aren't worth the aggravations.

I have a weird issue, not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Been a while since I've used Android so I forget everything.

So I turned off "Lift to check phone" and left on "Tap to check phone", and I've also not left the always on display on. Sometimes when I pick up the phone without touching the screen I get the ambient display go on. Sometimes it doesn't. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

I see what people are saying about the screen brightness being too dim. I didn't notice last night as it was dark as I was setting up my phone but today sitting in the kitchen and bright sunshine streaming into the room I find I have to up the brightness slider on the phone quite a lot, probably 70% to get a decent screen to look at (of course I have old eyes)

Sounds like a bug unless you are accidentally touching the screen without realizing it; and I could see that happening easily with the curved glass of the Pro when trying to lift the phone from a flat surface.

I'm interested to see how it looks for me. On one hand, I've got the Galaxy Note 8 currently that I've used for 4 years and that screen is bright. But it's also 4 years old. I'm wondering if the Pixel will almost trick my eyes with the bright themes and UI or if I'll be able to pick up on it right away.

70% is about where I have to have the brightness slider on my Pixel 4a in bright sunlight. So I'm thinking not bad. I can live with that. Maybe just keep it on Adaptive Brightness.

I thought it might be my big lumbering hands at first accidentally touching the screen but since I noticed I have been very careful and just move the move by the sides without touching the screen at all and the screen comes on (the always-on version not fully lit up).

I don't have the latest update that google said is coming (version SD1A.210817.036) so maybe it'll be fixed once I get that? I hope anyway...it's weird it doesn't happen all the time, just intermittently.
